TETER, LLP has been in business for 44 years. 1979 1997 2012 2017 2022

Teter Consultants is established in Visalia by Glen Teter with a goal of providing exemplary structural engineering services and building a legacy firm for future professionals.

Fresno office opens to expand the firm’s A/E offerings for an evergrowing geographic marketplace.

Bakersfield office opens to better service Kern County clients.

TETER opens offices in Modesto and San Luis Obispo to service clients in the North Valley and Central Coast and reaches a milestone of 100 staff across its five offices.

TETER has spent four decades building a legacy firm and continuing that vision, TETER transfers 100% ownership of the company to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

When Glen Teter founded TETER in 1979, the first and only service provided was Structural Engineering. As a licensed Structural Engineer, Glen was singularly focused on providing uncompromising engineering services to facilities large and small, ensuring that designs were code compliant, practical, and lasting. Now, 43 years, 5 offices, and 130 professionals later, these core tenets of our client service and solutions are as relevant as ever and have been instilled in every one of our professionals hired since Glen’s early days, Engineers and Architects alike.

As the firm grew, Glen empowered each of our new hires to think and perform as an integrated design team, ensuring that no matter the project, practicality, function, and superb quality are always held in as high regard as aesthetics. This pragmatic commitment to client solutions and integration with creative architecture has resulted in decades-long relationships with our amazing clients, thousands of successfully and beautifully completed projects, and tangible outcomes toward our guiding mission:

Building a Better Valley.

> INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE

Although the central San Joaquin Valley is known for its vast number of agricultural processing facilities, it is also home to many facilities that process non-agricultural products. TETER has a long history of experience with industrial plant design, an area that requires highly specialized knowledge and an understanding of complex manufacturing processes.

Some of TETER’s industrial clients include:

When Modern Custom Fabrication’s facility in downtown Fresno turned out to be on the route of the new high-speed rail, they looked to TETER to start fresh on a new site. This company rolls and welds massive pieces of steel into enormous storage tanks, pressure vessels, and more. Since enormous vessels move better in a straight line than around corners, a site was found that could accommodate a new, very long, very tall building shell. Between the size of the footings needed and the pad requirements for the heavy equipment, an impressive amount of concrete sits underneath this structure.

TETER led the Structural design development services and selfperformed the structural engineering design for this new UPS distribution Warehouse in Visalia. TETER worked closely with other team members to create a cohesive design that was coordinated throughout the project. Because of the project’s size, work was completed in multiple phases, with the Hub building being designed and permitted in 4 phases to jump-start construction and the other buildings being designed in their own.

At 655,000 square feet, this facility is the largest citrus-packing facility in the Central Valley, but we only had a year between initial conversations about this project and the start of construction. That’s not much. Fortunately, our long history with the owner in their various locations means that we can work with different general contractors and get things done the way the company likes and expects.

We designed the structural and architectural systems to meet the client’s standards and desires as well as the food plant industry’s standards for cleanliness and workflow. We worked closely with the client, Design/Build contractor, design consultants and equipment vendors to provide well-coordinated construction documents.

With a relationship going back over twenty years, TETER has provided Saputo with high-quality, responsive services rooted in an institutional knowledge of their local facilities. We have provided architectural and structural engineering services on two of Saputo’s largest capital improvement projects. In a different direction than buildings usually go, one of those projects involved shrinking a 100'-tall building to 30' tall, reducing a community eyesore and improving community relations.

We have produced several projects for Kraft over the years, but structurally strengthening a 300,000-square-foot roof might be the most extensive. Originally built in the 1980s, the strengthening should help the roof last another thirty to forty years. Our solution allowed them to fix the problem in place and not tear it down and start over.
