“For me, creating art is all about passion. It’s a way for me to breathe life into the visions in my head, without using words” The falconer: This one came about last winter. We’ve had a few wicked winters lately here where I live in Pennsylvania. I was walking my dog in the woods, thinking about how much snow we might get, and I saw this gorgeous hawk fly past overhead. There are a lot of mountains here; including one that is a bird of prey sanctuary (Hawk Mountain Sanctuary close by) and we have hawks, falcons, eagles, numerous vultures, etc. I walk the dog every day on the mountain behind my house, so we see them daily. My mind just clicked with the thoughts of the snow on the ground, the hawk overhead, and the cold. It just popped into my head.

Heaven’s Spear: Angels have inspired me in the past, although I rarely create visions of peaceful angels. I see them as warriors, and this was the first in a series of battle angels that I did. It was about power, divine, awesome might, and I feel that it really came across in this image.

Garden of the Muse: This one came about as an experiment. I’ve seen images of muses portrayed in so many ways, I wanted to add my own version to the rest out there. I could think of no better place for a muse to relax in than a lovely garden. That is of course, when she is not whispering in someone’s ear.

Casa Atreides: I’ve always loved to create personal versions of works I admired and this was a great opportunity to make them. When I decided to do my version, I thought there were interesting things in both the movie and the book, so I mixed them together (without using any references, only my imagination). I decided to start with Lynch’s Steampunk style – thus the similarity with Belarusian and Tsar costumes.

-Nickname: Angelitoon; -Age: 45 years old; -Country: Spain; -Studies: Self-taught; -Tools he uses: Organica, 3ds Max, ZBrush, VUE, Photoshop, ArtRage, After Effects, DAZ Studio and plenty of plug-ins for special effects.

62

Entropeya: I wanted to create something different from “Casa Atreides, something more industrial and sci-fi. I imagined a contaminated world ruled by technology in an environmentally dangerous way. I usually try to avoid copying planes or rockets, although, this time I tried to create some kind of military airplane. I also experimented with geometrical displacement techniques to produce detailed buildings.

63

“What I like the most is when you start a design and then see the same image finished. Post-production and composition – it’s like finishing a puzzle”

64

Moon water: this started like a game. The main idea was to practice by designing spaceships because, at that time, I was working on a commission for an online game. I wanted to create a mix between a vehicle and a building (following my style) - something that looked connected. Then I included an engaged couple getting ready to travel to Moon water.

Work Space: is my idea for a lovely corner, transformed into a workplace. Inspired by Scandinavian design!

67

“I love Scandinavian interiors, with clean white forms and beautiful details as an accent

The Orange Boss: it’s a small, sunny loft, where I focused on Michael Shapcott’s canvas “Pele”. He inspires me a lot!!!!

69

NYC Sunrise: when I started this project, I had no idea what I was doing. I left it unfinished ... and perhaps half a year later, I thought of it and finished it for two hours!

“What I like most about 3D programs is the rendering part - where you have the possibility to change points of view, perspectives, composition, illumination, etc

Futuristic Hips: this image was also sculpted and rendered in ZBrush, except for the details. The postwork was done in Photoshop.

72

Dark Warrior: I created this image using ZBrush and Photoshop. The whole image was sculpted in ZBrush and then rendered using different materials and illumination. Lastly, I did the post-work in Photoshop.

Mechaminers: only the model was sculpted in ZBrush. The scene was composed by duplicating the same image in 2.5D mode and rendered at the same time in ZBrush. The post-work was, once again, done in Photoshop.

The cube: this work is a tribute to Minecraft and a test of urban representation.

77

Welcome in the new age: this is a representation of a futuristic cityscape - melancholic and desolate.

78

79

Dawn of a new resistance: me and my friend (http://syst-eeem.deviantart.com) have done this work for a fantasy contest.

Fly house: a quiet place above everything and everyone where I want to take refuge when I reflect on new work.

80

-Nickname: Iluviar; -Age: 22 years old; -Country: Belarus; -Studies: degree in Linguistics (Japanese); -Tools: Photoshop.

Harbingers of inspiration: this is an illustration of a story I imagined myself: “Every night Lilliana locked herself up in a tower alone with her cello trying to give birth to a new creation. For many days she’d just sit there, embracing her instrument and looking out of the window till dawn broke with no tune to cross her mind. But then, the night sky became clear and soft moonlight filled the chamber. A butterfly sat on Lilliana’s hand, specks of inspiration on its wings - and a magical melody blossomed in her soul. Brightly shone the moon that night...”.

82

Magic of the water: the main character is a sorceress who masters the water element. I wanted this work to look mysterious and enigmatic so I decided to pick cold blue colors for it.

84

Red Passion: I wanted to create a character not quite real, consisting partially from fire and smoke. She is strong and confident and controls the fire using her fan.

85

The Mill: my first landscape manipulation. I love this place; I want to have a house like that.

“I like to inspire other artists. The poems and paintings featuring my art are a special joy for me

87

Sweet Light: this was just for training with a bokeh composition. I haven’t found a girl-model for this image and just sent it as it is.

88

Cherry Blossom: the blossoming of the sakuras is a very beautiful time in Japan. This is a Japanesestyled place, in this period from my dreams.

89

Ancient Echoes: I love the forest - these places inspire me often.

Crossing the Rift: I was inspired by the video game “Enclave” and its OST. The “Celenheim Light Theme” gave me all light dreams which you can see on this image.

90

“I am absolutely sure the best of our creations come from our hearts

91

priscila fernandes www.eclipsy.com.br http://eclipsy.deviantart.com/

-Nickname: Eclipsy; -Age: 22 years old; -Country: Brazil; -Studies: self- taugh; -Tools: Photoshop and Wacom tablet.

“Experiment, try and test. It’s the best way to get better”

Lilith, the face of sin: as a great fan of mythology, Lilith and black and red, I used those colors to represent a goddess who gave origin to all dark things - a representation of sin as a beautiful thing.

92

Poisoned heart: this is about what love does to us. Here, Snow White is a representation of how love hurts in a good way.

My own fears: again, as a lover of black and red, we have an external representation of her inner side; the fear, the sinner, the darkness...

Empty vanity: how emptiness is appearance! Life is more than mirrors and external beauty.

94

Dark Symphony: just feeling the music in a purple mood.

“You can only become a real artist when you come up with your own techniques, your signature, something on your pictures that says your name implicitly

carina grimm http://CarinaGrimm.deviantart.com

“I photomanipulate because I need it, I need a release; I need to express myself to let my feelings flow through my art”

-Nickname: VikkiGothAngel; -Age: 18 years old; -Country: Portugal; -Studies: self-taught; -Tools: Photoshop;

A magia do teu Amor: which means “The magic of your Love” represents how a person’s soul can immediately turn into something beautiful, something light, how we can see so much beauty around us just because we are in love.

99

Stay with Me: it represents the fear of losing something or someone whom you try to stay together with, regardless if that is the best for that someone or not, just like the model in the picture keeps a pure white dove chained to her, even if she knows she is hurting.

100

Visions of you: was made while thinking about the people sharing true love even though they are living far away from each other, which is my case as well ... so in the darkest moments, you see that person guiding you no matter from how far.

101

If Forever was just a Word: I must admit I was not feeling too happy when I made this. I was in constant fear of perhaps losing My Beloved one day, because I see people cheating everywhere, promises being broken ... that is how this mixed media got created, thinking about “what if ... promises will always be just words ... how something so fragile and beautiful could be a lie...
