Dear Friends, What a pleasure it is to come together for High Holy Days,

gathering in community after a long and lovely Seattle summer! We very much look forward to seeing you as together we celebrate ageold traditions infused with modern sensibilities, hear the lilting holiday melodies and the awe-inspiring call of the shofar. Whether it is your first High Holy Days at Temple, or you measure your Temple participation in decades, welcome back to your Temple.

As you enter our Seattle and Bellevue campuses for the High Holy Days this year, our staff, Board, and other volunteer greeters will be ready to welcome you. If you don’t know the greeter at the door, please introduce yourself; we are eager to get to know our newest members in person, and to see old friends. As always, our security team of guards and off-duty officers will be on-site to help ensure our safety. To assist with that task, please avoid bringing backpacks or large bags. Diaper bags are fine, of course; we love seeing our little ones! And please plan to arrive early to allow time to park; our services begin at the stated times.

Another way we will be welcoming everyone back this coming fall is with great programming for every age and stage of life. Elders will find a rich panoply of offerings through Endless Opportunities. Families with young children can engage with one another at Shabbat Shelanu and other programs. Our Tikkun Olam efforts continue to engage our community and inspire the broader region. And our Tribe events for young adults are constantly reimagined to best appeal to the shifting needs of this important demographic.

Additionally, we’d like to highlight a few new opportunities that our members can look forward to this fall:

■ Dr. Lisa Miller will speak to parents of every age child on The Awakened Brain. Please join us for this year’s Bernbaum Family Lecture on Sunday, October 15, at 10:00 AM in the Alhadeff Sanctuary.

■ Rabbi Laura Rumpf, our Rabbi-in-Residence for Spirituality and Social Justice, will offer workshops on the intersection of creativity and spirituality, drawing on her work with the cutting-edge Jewish Studio Project.

■ Our emerging Nefesh L’Nefesh support group for families experiencing cognitive and memory impairment will enable our community to be there for one another in the face of this growing challenge.

■ At Sukkot, we’ll be rolling out a new initiative for “small groups” of like-minded Temple members to build and strengthen connections. Interested in movies? Wine? Good books? Look for more information in the coming weeks.

I look forward to seeing you and extending a personal warm welcome to Temple!

Fondly,
