Capital Campaign Update –What a Difference a Summer Makes!

By Barb Maduell, Senior Development Director

Since our congregation voted in May to move forward with our 16th Avenue capital campaign, our clergy, staff, and lay leadership have been busy with the next phase of our Seattle campus transformation. Stay tuned for the launch of our special campaign page on the Temple website – where you’ll find regular updates – before the High Holy Days. Until then, here are some headlines!

Planning for the first major remodel of our Seattle campus in 62 years is well underway. Led by Board member Steve Schwartz, our project facilities committee is working with our architectural firm, Mithun, to create revitalized outdoor and indoor spaces that will be welcoming, warm, flexible, beautiful, and of course, safe and secure. The permitting process with the City of Seattle is an important next step and will determine the final project schedule. We hope to begin construction in the Spring of 2024 and open our new doors about a year later.

The campaign’s lay leadership and group of other volunteers is growing! If you’d like to be involved – on a committee or just for an hour – we promise to find a way for you to plug in that speaks to your interests and strengths.

Of course, our revitalized spaces will be made possible by… our Temple community! Led by campaign co-chairs Aaron Alhadeff and Laurie Minsk, we grow closer to our campaign goal every day by meeting personally with congregants to share plans, answer questions, learn what matters most, and invite stretch gifts or pledges (over up to five years) that are personally meaningful. The generosity is truly inspiring. Because we’re blessed to have a large Temple family, it will take time to connect with everyone over the coming several months. If you’re ready to make a gift, learn how you can volunteer, or ask any questions, we’d love to speak with you!
