Family Service (JFS) Food Drive and Sort
As in previous years, we are participating in the JFS Food Drive. You will be able to pick up a bag at Rosh Hashanah services, fill it with non-perishable food items, and drop it off at either campus on Yom Kippur. Sunday, October 15th will be a communal food sorting event at JFS.
Yom Kippur Hunger Reflection
The organization MAZON: a Jewish Response to Hunger invites us to use our fast on Yom Kippur to reflect on hunger in America and all those who do not have enough nutritious food to eat. Whether or not you refrain from food, one possibility is to donate the money you would normally spend on food to MAZON or a local food bank.
You can support our social justice work via a donation to the Siegal Tikkun Olam Fund during this year’s Annual Campaign. Learn more about the campaign on page 22.
One of the services Temple offers for the upcoming holiday season is Kever Avot.
Sacred Journeys has supported members of our community who want to participate in this tradition with our Kever Avot service.

What is Kever Avot?
Kever Avot refers to the Jewish custom of visiting the gravesides of parents or close relatives to honor their memory. Jewish communities and our Temple have long practiced this tradition of honoring our loved ones between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
As we all look forward to the Jewish holidays, we often think of loved ones we have lost. They celebrated with us and brought meaning to our lives. This service allows us a space and time to remember them.
Who will attend this service?
No matter when your loved ones died, or where they are buried, we hope you will attend this service and light a candle in memory of your loved ones. If you attend virtually, have a candle nearby to light during the service.
What kind of service is it?
This is a casual, yet very meaningful service, led by Rabbi Weiner. It is a time to reflect on love, loss and moving forward into a new Jewish year.
Sacred Journeys welcomes you.
Sacred Journeys provides light refreshments before the service to welcome you as a part of our Temple family. After the service, if you have loved ones buried in the cemetery, you can visit their gravesites and leave a stone, provided at the cemetery by Sacred Journeys.
