TATTERSALLS IRELAND BREEZE UP SALE

OPTIMISM AND CONFIDENCE FOR 2026

As we approach the end of 2025 it is hard to believe that nominations, inspections and entries for the Breeze Up Sale are now on the agenda. It only feels like yesterday that we witnessed the highestpriced breeze up horse ever sold in Ireland go through the ring at Fairyhouse last May.

We commence another Breeze Up Sale cycle with huge optimism and confidence. The demand for twoyear-olds from the sale has grown exponentially. It gives me great pride and satisfaction to say that the clearance rate of 88% was the highest of any Breeze Up Sale around the world in 2025. The final purchaser table in 2025 featured buyers from an impressive 23 different countries, while from the 212 lots sold, 132 individual buyers were listed.

I can confidently say that we at Tattersalls Ireland now have a Breeze Up Sale that is fast becoming a leading sale within the Breeze Up market. Our turnover exceeded €11 million, a massive 21 per cent increase on 2024. A record average of €54,992 was achieved, a 26 per cent increase on 2024, while a new median record of €32,000 was set.

A major factor in the success of the sale is down to our vendors. They now understand that their two-year-olds

A major selling point for vendors and purchasers is the proximity of the sales complex to Fairyhouse Racecourse, and the seamless nature in which horses and humans can move between both venues. The consensus from riders is that the surface produced by the team at Fairyhouse is faultless, and we are extremely lucky to have a world class racecourse to offer consignors and riders.

Irish Thoroughbred Marketing play a crucial role in ensuring that our sales remain front of mind with international buyers, and their networking and presence ensures we welcome buyers from all corners of the world every year. Flat racing has a huge international appeal, and our team along with ITM are continuously exploring new markets and opportunities.
