As the weather finally cools off, the fun heats up at a variety of winter events hosted by the Island Recreation Center. A community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people of all ages through public recreation programs, wellness activities and community events, the Island Rec. Center had to change and adapt much of its programing during the pandemic. Luckily, most of the popular seasonal happenings make a return this winter which, in turn, will benefit the Carmines Family Recreation Scholarship Fund ensuring that no child is denied recreational opportunities. Kick off the holiday season at the Winter Wonderland Festival on Friday, December 3 at Shelter Cove Community Park from 4-7 p.m. Planned family-friendly activities include carnival games, a rock-climbing wall and inflatable rides, a Golden Candy Cane Hunt, entertainment and treats for all ages. Even the Jolly Ol’ Elf himself is rumored to be making an appearance 40

at this annual holiday event. Afterwards, check out the holiday light displays at nearby Shelter Cove Towne Center and Shelter Cove Harbour. Hilton Head Snow Day returns to Shelter Cove Community Park on Saturday, January 29 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with a snowfield, inflatable rides and entertainment. Pack up your gloves and hat and put on your coldweather coat for a rare day of Lowcountry snowball fights and family fun. Admission

to the snowfield is $5 for all-day access. Share the love this Valentine’s Day during the Daddy Daughter Dance taking place at the Poseidon Rooftop Bar in Shelter Cove Towne Centre on February 5.
