K-12 Construction Processes

T. A. Loving Company is a leading construction company known for construction excellence and client advocacy.

PRECONSTRUCTION

T. A. Loving Company takes a proactive approach to preconstruction. Our teams commit to open communication and cooperative teamwork, which facilitates the solving of complex challenges during the preconstruction phase of projects.

Our in-house VDC department maximizes project value by ensuring efficiency and coordination in the design, which increases the accuracy of our estimates and efficiency in construction.

Our approach to HUB/MWBE is streamlined and thorough. Our trade partners find us easy to work with and our results are consistently above the established goal. Our ultimate goal is to help our trade partners gain experience and grow their companies.

CONSTRUCTION

We believe that the construction phase is all about execution. The plan, developed during preconstruction, is executed by our operations team, utilizing our best-in-class people, processes, and resources. T. A. Loving does not believe in a project turnover from preconstruction to operations. Instead, we provide a single point of contact involved in all project phases to ensure consistency throughout the life of the project.

Stough Magnet Elementary School

Wake County Public School System, Raleigh, NC

Stough Magnet Elementary School is one of Wake County Public School System’s newest facilities providing 44 teaching spaces and a student capacity of 644. The school serves kindergarten through fifth grade, pre-K and students receiving adaptive curriculum. Built on a 14 acre-site, the 103,000 sq ft school also includes ample carpool and bus loading, covered pickup and play areas, a screened loading and service area, improved outdoor gathering spaces and play surfaces with unique play spaces for different age groups.

Stough was originally a renovation project. The owner decided to instead demolish the existing school, and construct a new, larger school that would accommodate more students. The school was constructed within ADA compliance and came in five days ahead of schedule.

Hilltop Needmore Road

Elementary School

Wake County Public School System, Fuquay-Varina, NC

T. A. Loving Company constructed a new 136,000 SF elementary school located on the former Crooked Creek Golf Course in Fuquay-Varina. The site is shared between the elementary school and a newly completed community center. The school has 56 classrooms and a core capacity of 800 students serving students pre-K through fifth grade.

The design emphasizes an immersive learning scape where the building and site work in conjunction to establish an environment for active and engaged learning. The school nestles into the landscape on the southern portion of the site with the classroom wings aligned along the east-west axis and play fields to the south. The grade levels are organized into three bars that extend into the landscape, creating learning courtyards adjacent to the classrooms, in addition to outdoor play spaces.

Morrisville High School

Wake County Public School System, Morrisville, NC

The Morrisville High School project is a major success for T. A. Loving and Wake County Public Schools. Initially planned as a combined Middle/High School, it transitioned mid-project into a dedicated High School to better meet educational needs. T. A. Loving collaborated with the design team and WCPSS to adjust the scope, maintain the original Fall 2025 completion date, and implement cost-saving measures. A delivery approach resembling Design-Build facilitated phased bidding, early procurement, and fast-tracked mobilization.

The high school will now include a 600-space parking deck, upgraded track & field facilities, and high school programming modifications to the interior. The 44-acre site required significant grading, earthwork, and five large retaining walls. A vertical commons links double-height spaces and the building’s design integrates technology labs and outdoor educational areas with the surrounding landscape.
