We look forward to welcoming you to Taliesin Arts Centre.
Taliesin Arts Centre is owned and managed by Swansea University, set in the heart of Swansea University’s Singleton Campus, surrounded by a beautiful park and the coast of Swansea Bay.
Taliesin Arts Centre opened its doors in 1984 and is named after the ancient Welsh bard, Taliesin. Our programming consists of a mix of contemporary performance including dance and theatre; music; film and broadcast. We present work in English and Welsh, alongside a strong international film programme presented in languages from all over the world.
We are a proudly bilingual venue.

When you arrive at Singleton Campus, you will need to drive straight up towards the main building ahead of you, Fulton House. In front of Fulton House is a large green lawn which is Veer to the left as you approach the roundabout and follow round until you reach

Just at the edge of the car park, on the far right, there is a loading bay for Taliesin Art Centre, with the road painted in yellow, where you will see the stage door and the scene
Please use the bell at stage door to access the building.
Parking & unloading
The hatched area at the stage door and the scene dock has very limited space and is primarily used for loading and unloading rather than parking.
If you have a large vehicle with set, equipment or instruments etc., please contact Andrew Knight before arrival to organise how best to use this space.
An Automated Number Plate
Recognition (ANPR) system is in place on campus. Parking is subject to various restrictions (particularly from 8am-4pm on weekdays) and in some cases may also be chargeable. For further information please speak to a member of the Taliesin Arts Centre team who will advise based on your specific requirements.
If there are any problems, or if any member of the company has accessibility needs, please talk to a member of staff when you arrive, they will be happy to help you.
House Rules
Visiting company and performers to enter and leave by the Stage Door.
Restricted access from backstage to Front of House.
No Alcohol at any time in any backstage areas.
There are designated zones outside for smoking or vaping.
Food and drink to be consumed in the dressing rooms or Green Room.
The stage and backstage areas will close 30 minutes after the performance ends, unless an extended get-out has been agreed beforehand.
WiFi
Swansea University provides Wi-Fi coverage across its campuses, for use by students and staff as well as a visitor network for guests and conferences.
Connect to 'SwanseaUni-Visitors' and follow the prompts that will ask you to put in your email address and agree to the terms and conditions. Once this has been accepted, you should be connected to the Internet.
If you have any issues or need further help, please ask a member of the team who should be able to assist you.
Access & Accessibility
The Duty Technician will greet you and help you to settle in backstage, show you to the dressing rooms and green room and support you with any queries you may have.
The Front of House Duty Supervisor will be available from 2 hours before the event start time to assist you with any Front of House requirements.
The Box Office core opening hours are Monday to Friday 1pm – 5pm. They also open late on event days and at least 2 hours before a weekend event start time. Telephone 01792 602060
The building has several levels but has means of access throughout.
The dressing rooms, showers and toilets are all accessible from the stage door and are on the same level as the stage.
The internal route from backstage to front of house has several levels and steps.
The external route around the building is relatively accessible and there is a lift in the foyer to lower level should company members need to access the Green Room and the laundry room in the lower level, by means other than stairs.
If you or your company members have specific access needs, then please let us know so we can help as best we can.
Health & Safety
All backstage areas should be kept clean & tidy.
Auditorium doors are to remain locked until Front of House Duty Supervisor gives clearance to open.
Corridors, entrances, walkways and steps must always be kept clear.
Any accident or incident must be reported to Taliesin Arts Centre staff immediately. All university security staff are first aid trained and are available 24/7.
There is a defibrillator located in the Taliesin Arts Centre foyer.
Fire doors/exits should always be kept closed and clear.
Our technical and backstage risk assessment is on display in backstage areas.
Licences and Policies
PRS information should be sent to Taliesin Arts Centre before your event day or handed to the Front of House Duty Supervisor on arrival.

Emergency Evacuation Procedure
Visiting companies should familiarise themselves with the fire evacuation procedure, exit routes and the assembly point on arrival. The information can be found on the notice board at stage door, dressing rooms and the Green Room.
Visiting companies should have a register of its crew and cast and in the event of an evacuation will be responsible for accounting for all company members at the assembly point.
In the event of an emergency, the fire alarm will sound, and emergency exit signs will be lit.
All company members should leave the building via the nearest fire exit and meet at the assembly point number 2: The Mall, near the library.
The backstage fire exits are:
Ground floor – Stage door.
Lower Ground Floor – turn left out of the Green Room, through the door at the end of the corridor, exit door on the left.
Backstage facilities
Dressing rooms
At stage door level backstage, we have 4 dressing rooms all of which have mirrors with lights, hanging space for clothes and costumes, ironing boards, irons and handwash basins. They also have windows which are high up allowing natural light and privacy. Show relay is available throughout the dressing rooms and in the Green Room.
Toilets and showers
In the same corridor as the dressing rooms there are visitor toilets which have shower areas in them.
These also have mirrors and lighting.
Green Room
On the lower ground floor, backstage, we have a Green Room which is available for the use of visiting companies.
We have a small stock of various teas and coffee supplies and there is a kettle, fridge and microwave as well as crockery, cutlery and glasses, and washing up facilities.
There is a large table with plenty of chairs and two large sofas.
Laundry
On the lower ground floor there is a laundry/utility room with washing and drying machines, hanging rails, and ironing facilities should they be required.
Sustainability
Taliesin Arts Centre actively contributes to Swansea University’s challenging pursuit of sustainable development.
We encourage and support visiting companies to ‘go green’ during your time with us and work together to minimise the environmental impact of our activities and events.

Food and drink
The university has various outlets selling food and drink during the day and hosts a food ordering app called Uni Food Hub
There are several eateries, supermarkets and takeaways in the surrounding areas of Sketty, Brynmill, Uplands, Mumbles, the Marina and the town centre, most of which are within a 10-minute drive (traffic permitting).

Where possible it is best if this is done as far in advance as possible so that you don’t find yourselves hungry just before the performance.
