What’s On
Whare Kahurangi invites you to reflect on the past and imagine the future – this is an exhibition not to be missed!
Puke Ariki Whare Kahurangi
Whare Kahurangi: 100 Years of Collecting celebrates 100 years since the Taranaki Museum opened its doors and features objects from the Museum’s storerooms and from private collectors around Taranaki. From Skinner’s diary entries charting the beginning of the museum through to the weird and wonderful - living dead dolls, Transformers, a meteorite, our oldest picture of New Plymouth, a cobra, some stolen jewels and the hint to a missing face towel (possibly!) belonging to Edward VII … there’s something for everyone.
WHARE KAHURANGI WHEN 6 April - 6 October WHERE Temporary Gallery, Puke Ariki Museum ADMISSION Free
You can truly be part of this exhibition – from a virtual reality experience taking you to the other side of the world, placing your own possession into the Cabinet of Curiosities, or voting on an ethical dilemma – should the museum open the sealed pages of a letter book from 1841?
