IMPACT OF GIVING 2024
We foster a sense of community and strengthen the school’s culture, engaging alumni, parents, and community members in alignment with the school’s traditions, values, and future aspirations.

AUTHOR
Valma Dyer, Foundation Coordinator foundation@taschool.qld.edu.au
Since 1911, Toowoomba Anglican School has been committed to nurturing the intellectual, social and emotional development of young people. A smaller school by design, TAS has decades of wonderful traditions that live on today. Our approach continues to be holistic as we focus on the development of the ‘whole child’ and creating young adults who, when they leave us are ready to face the challenges of the future.
Your philanthropic contributions to TAS have been instrumental in enabling opportunities to both current and future generations of young people. Your generosity not only upholds the School’s ideals, achievements, and reputation but also contributes to an enduring legacy of empowering young people through education.
Thank you for supporting TAS’ vision to position our students well as we advance further into the 21st century.
Together we BELIEVE, Together we CARE, Together we LEARN and Together we THRIVE.
FROM THE PRESIDENT
MR MATT SANSON
PRESIDENT, TOOWOOMBA ANGLICAN
SCHOOL FOUNDATION LIMITED
On behalf of the Foundation, I extend my thanks and gratitude for your generous support of the Toowoomba Anglican School in 2024. Together our efforts create a positive and lasting impact on the future of the School and the young people it guides and nurtures.
The Toowoomba Anglican School Foundation, established in 1988, plays a crucial role in engaging the school community and wider public through events, building fund contributions, and donations. These efforts support the school’s infrastructure development and provide bursaries to families in need.
The Foundation leads fundraising and donation initiatives, managing and allocating funds to support the school’s facilities, bursaries, and objectives in line with the TAS master plan. The Foundation also works to foster a sense of community and strengthen the school’s culture, engaging alumni, parents, and community members in alignment with the school’s traditions, values, and future aspirations.
Recently, the Foundation updated its constitution to reflect the school’s evolution from a primary school to a modern educational facility serving day and boarding students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Key achievements include modernising the constitution, developing an investment strategy, donating $250,000 to the Connal Building, providing bursaries to two families, and creating a website for future support.
We are pleased to report a 30% increase in contributions to the Voluntary Building Fund since 2020, with 58% of families participating. The Foundation’s assets have grown to $1,100,000. Looking ahead, the Foundation aims to support future capital projects like the Gill precinct development and Queenies Reserve, and to grow its investment portfolios to fund future infrastructure and bursary commitments.
We are excited about the Foundation’s current position and the future development of Toowoomba Anglican School, and proud to be part of one of Queensland’s leading schools.
FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
MR SIMON LEES HEAD OF SCHOOL
At Toowoomba Anglican School, we are committed to fostering an environment where every student can thrive, regardless of their financial circumstances. Through the generous support of our community, the Toowoomba Anglican School Foundation plays a vital role in making this vision a reality.
The Foundation provides essential funding for buildings and bursaries, ensuring that deserving students have access to the exceptional education we offer. This support not only enhances the individual lives of our students but also strengthens the broader school community by nurturing diversity, talent, and potential.
We are deeply grateful to all our donors whose contributions make these opportunities possible. Every gift, no matter the size, directly benefits our students, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential and enriching the life of the school.
Thank you for your ongoing support, which continues to shape the future of Toowoomba Anglican School.
“We are excited about the Foundation’s current position and the future development of Toowoomba Anglican School, and proud to be part of one of Queensland’s leading schools.” - Matt Sanson
PHILANTHROPIC HIGHLIGHTS
1988 - A FOUNDATION OF PHILANTHROPY TOWARDS 2000
The Toowoomba Preparatory School Foundation (as it was then named), was established by the School Council to meet the future educational needs of children, and to support the ongoing investment in buildings and facilities.
The Foundation established itself as a major contributor to the School with significant donations towards refurbishment and construction of new buildings and the offering of scholarships and bursaries. These included, the refurbishment of the Bell Tower, construction of additional classrooms in Cornish House, refurbishment of Cornish House classrooms, and contributions to the construction of Brewster Boarding House, the AGFE Loveday Classroom Block and the Chapel of St Aidan.
THE START OF THE 21ST CENTURY
The Foundation continued to support the education of children through bursaries and scholarship. This enabled children, both boarding and day, the opportunity to attend the School. As well, significant funds were raised which would be directed at additional scholarships in the future. Other contributions included the new Millenium Centre and assisting the School with the completion of the Creative Arts Building classrooms and facilities, the ‘Friends for Life’ Mural, the new Library, the new Health Centre, the Great Chapel Window, and the refurbishment of the tennis courts.
2010 - 2019
During this period, the School transitioned from a primary school to a secondary school, and became Australia’s first school to offer boarding and day education to girls and boys from Kindergarden to Year 12. Significant investment was made in the advancement of educational facilities by funding the comprehensive redevelopment and expansion of educational spaces across the School. Additionally, the redevelopment of the Aquatic Centre was completed and the Jordan Oval parking facilities were expanded. In the aftermath of the 2011 floods, the Foundation established the Flood Bursary to support families affected by the floods.
2020
The Foundation contributed significantly to the capital improvement of the School. This continued with the most recent donation of the classrooms on the upper level of the new Connal Building.
2024 AND BEYOND
As we move further into the 21st Century, the Foundation will continue to strengthen its strategic direction and build its capacity to support TAS and the young people it educates.
You are invited to strengthen our philanthropic legacy by leaving a gift for the next enriching chapter in the future of TAS students.
PHILANTHROPIC PRIORITIES
The philanthropic principles on which the Foundation was established are based on two pillars; bursaries and buildings. These principles support the School’s commitment to an environment where students learn alongside each other, fostering mutual respect, understanding, and collaboration.
BURSARIES
TAS has a rich history of educating students from diverse backgrounds. Through bursaries, TAS is committed to offering opportunities to young people who might not otherwise be able to attend the School.
BUILDINGS
Providing contemporary learning and boarding spaces is essential to support students to achieve their full potential. TAS will continue to invest in infrastructure projects that enable students to collaborate, learn, and live independently.
Toowoomba Anglican School Foundation is a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. Donations to The Toowoomba Anglican School Foundation Building Fund and or The Toowoomba Anglican School Bursary Fund may be tax deductable. If you would like to discuss TAS’ philanthropic priorities and help support our School, please contact the Foundation on 07 4639 8111 or email foundation@taschool.qld.edu.au.
