Coastal Comfort One of the many advantages of living in a beautiful coastal community is the happiness that transpires when living by the water. Our homes have the ability to relax us and make us happier people. When designed for a family’s personal lifestyle, a home can also create a sense of balance in our daily routine. After all, a happy life is a balanced life – where there is time for work and play, time for reflection, and a time and place for interacting with friends and family.
Nature and color have also been linked to elevated moods. So, naturally, taking the inside out – or bringing the outside in – goes a long way toward establishing a balanced, well designed home. For the Page 2 Design team, we love it when the interiors we design become a place for getting back in touch with our coastal environment. One recent renovation was especially thrilling because we were able to create a “happy place” to which the homeowners were longing to return. A Moorings waterfront gem is restored to all its glory.

This majestic outdoor living room makes the perfect end-of-day retreat.
When Page Franzel, owner of Page 2 Design initially met with homeowners John and Leslie Halsted, it was to discuss expanding the kitchen in the home they had recently purchased in The Moorings. What soon transpired was a whole-home renovation, including custom furnishings and the creation of a spectacular waterfront oasis. The Halsteds chose Vero Beach and Page 2 Design to help them achieve the comforts and happiness that they remembered so fondly. The result? “It’s the sights, the sounds, and the smells I 4

remembered from years ago and missed so much,” Leslie Halsted said. Their home is a beautiful example of how coastal homes can be both comfortable and elegant. From cheerful floral fabrics in the bedrooms and touches of bold color in the living areas to the tranquil waterfront outdoor room, it’s coastal cozy at its best. Page 2 Design extends a special thank you to Joe Faglia, General Contractor and Jeffrey Ray, Architect, AIA of Atelier d’Architecture, for their expert guidance and keen eye for details.

Color Trends Come over to the bright side! Color has the ability to change our soul – to change the way we wake to a new day. Sunny colors associated with tropical flowers are especially happy. Bright green and poppy are enjoying a renaissance.

The Story of Your Home Our homes today are luxuries our ancestors could scarcely imagine. Today, beautiful works of architecture are limited more by economics than they are by physics – and less by climate than they are by our lifestyle desires. What we can imagine, we can build. But what then shapes our homes if prior environmental influences are less relevant than ever due to new building technologies and design materials? It’s all in the story of your home – your lifestyle, your routines, your family, and your desire for keeping it simple. Elegant, simple interior design that provides the allure of effortless style actually requires more work to achieve. But once it’s in place, it’s a beautiful thing! Smart interior design makes room for living rather than “things.” It also makes the best use of living space, whether it’s large or small. Ironically, while climate is less of an issue today, homeowners frequently long to bring the essence A ‘tennis kitchen’ makes practical use of a small space as nature’s fresh hues are paired with clean, white solid surfaces. of nature inside while simultaneously creating comfortable outdoor rooms. Clever interior design creates a seamless palette between the inside of your home and the great outdoors. Page 2 Design was a sponsor of “Arts, Champagne & Caviar” presented by the Cultural Council of Indian River County on February 25th. Hosted at a beachside home in Vero Beach, the event included art patrons and local humanitarians who share a mission to support the visual and performing arts in Indian River County. Cause for Paws Page Franzel and Page 2 Design proudly sponsor Cause for Paws each year. It’s an organization especially near and dear to us. This year’s March event was another huge success. It was “sold out” and generated impressive funds for the Humane Society of Indian River County.
