Welcome Hello Everyone, Once in a while you will find that life gives you a kick in the pants (or chest, as in my case) and you will have to rearrange your goals and future plans. It wasn’t an easy decision to sell all our cattle that reside here at Pura Vida, but for the immediate and foreseeable future, I will need to avoid the temptation of looking after cattle and all the physical work that taking care of cattle might entail (ie. building fence, putting out salt or just lifting the tailgate, etc.). Anyone who knows me, knows I love cattle and especially Speckle Park cattle! Gayle and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to own, raise, buy and sell purebred Speckle Park cattle over the last 14 years and we are especially proud of the cattle we are offering. We believe we have positively contributed to the genetics in the Speckle Park breed through our selection process. During it all, we have met some amazing producers over the years and we cannot thank the breeders enough who welcomed, mentored and Joe & Gayle Stookey helped us in the early years by leasing us bulls, very good bulls, Box 21, GS 316 RR 3 when our herd size was too small to justify a purchase (you know Saskatoon, SK S7K 3J6 306-229-7499 who you are – thank you). Even in these latter years we recognized joseph.stookey@usask.ca that purchasing a top herd sire required a partnership, thank you www.puravidaacres.com Second Chance Speckle Park and Highmark Speckle Park. With our pooled resources we were in a better position to gain access to some top genetics from the best bulls that we could locate and afford. For example, some of you buyers will get the extra bonus of purchasing a female that may be in calf from River Hill 5C Freedom 805F, a bull we partially own with Carla Ducherer (thank you Carla). All the females were exposed to Freedom from June 24 to July 25, 2019, but with this abbreviated breeding season we cannot guarantee any pregnancies, nor could we preg check with any accuracy with such a short gestation, even if they are bred. We would like to hope you will get a calf from Freedom, but recommend you expose your purchased females for another 30 days breeding if a natural mating suits your plans.

I am sorry we are not having a live auction at our place, but we extend a warm welcome and would love to meet or visit with anyone wanting to see our cattle live prior to the sale. My surgery has not yet been scheduled, but is eminent. So just call T Bar C or call us directly to make arrangements to set up a visit. And if you do find yourself buying any Pura Vida genetics or animals at this sale, please know that we will be interested in hearing of your successes long after this sale and we may stop in for a visit, regardless of where you live! All cattle sales require a multitude of people and their varied talents to pull off a successful sale. This sale was no different and it created some unique aspects due to the circumstances and speed in which it occurred. We could never have done this without a long list of friends, neighbours and specialists who offered help, many without us asking. To all of you mentioned below and to those we may have accidentally overlooked - we are forever grateful. Special thanks to: Chris Poley and his exceptional staff at T Bar C Cattle Co Ltd.; Mark Shologan and crew at DMLS; Clarke, Denise and Josh Ward at Wards Red Angus; the Leading Edge Speckle Park Sale consignors: Harv and Fran Fehr - Highmark Speckle Park, Rob and Janice Harasymchuk – INC Cattle Company, Glen and Barb Zerebeski – Green Hills Livestock; Brad and Wendy Nielson; Dr Colton McAleer, Eagle Creek Veterinary Services; Gordon, Faye and Dean Sanders; Ian, Marilyn and Craig Shirley; Tyler and Christiane Prochera; Bo Washniak; Black Diamond Speckle Park Stud in Australia; and Dr John and Jane Campbell. We whole heartedly (no pun intended), thank all of you for your help, support, friendship and interest in our cattle and wellbeing. To the buyers and cattle producers all over the world and those on Facebook and Twitter, we thank you and hope your grass is always green and plentiful. Best wishes and much future success,
Joe and Gayle Stookey
