On behalf of the entire crew here at MRL, Welcome to the ranch Saturday, March 3rd, for our Annual Bull Sale. It seems like everything we do 365 days a year at MRL revolves around our bull sale. For 49 years now in the Simmental business we have built cow families, and stacked genetics that work for ourselves and our commercial customers. In 50 years in the business we have never weakened or wandered off track on the type of cattle that work under our ranch conditions which are very similar to the majority of our commercial bull buyer’s operation. We have never based our genetic decision on the show ring or the flavor of the month and have never chased the extremes of any trait in one direction. First and foremost we have always paid close attention to sound structure (without this cattle will not compete under range conditions or in the feedlot). Our cowherd is definitely the strength of our program. For almost 50 years we have had total commitment to strengthening our factory. Under our real world ranching conditions the top cow families continue to surface and are multiplied and the cows that don’t make the grade soon weed themselves out of the herd. Through embryo transplant and persistence it is truly amazing that out of over 700 cows the majority now all go back to a handful of cow families. We believe our sire lineup is second to none in the business. Each and every major sire group in our offering goes back to elite cow families. Many of the elite sire groups in our sale you will notice were born and bred right here at MRL and backed by leading females in the business. We are proud of the job these sires do in our program and more so the job they have done for our customers leading off their programs as their high selling and most sought after progeny at sales across the country.
