WELCOME Thank you for selecting Southwest School of Art’s, Summer Art Studios, for your child, and for encouraging your child’s interest in art! This short presentation has important information about what to expect during your time with us. And what you can expect from us. We will cover items that will help you and your student have a successful and fulfilling time with us this summer. We look forward to an exciting and creative summer with your student….let’s get started!

About Us! • Southwest School of Art is a nationally-recognized leader in arts education and the only independent college of art in Texas. In addition to our BFA degree program, we offer studio programs that serve more than 4,000 adults, children and teens each year. • The mission of the Southwest School of Art teaches and advances the visual arts for the benefit of students seeking higher education and for others seeking education and enrichment. • We are in inclusive, diverse, and tolerant campus. Students will be expected to respect themselves, classmates and others who are on the campus. Discrimination on the basis or race, gender, religion or sexual orientation will not be tolerated. • To ensure a fun, educational, and creative environment we discourage disruptive behavior. If a child has repeated disciplinary problems, they will be dismissed from the program with parental notification, and without any refund of tuition.

Hi everyone! My name is Arianna Villareal, but I also go by Ari. I am a third-year student at the University of the Incarnate Word with a double major in Psychology and Criminal Justice. After undergrad, I hope to go into social work and eventually go to graduate school as well. Some things I enjoy include drawing/painting, yoga, boba runs, picnics, and sunny days. Ari is a Counselor for Summer Art Studios 2021.

My name is Kalle Duncan, I am a sophomore studying studio art at the University of Texas in Austin. I am a San Antonio native and took many courses at the Southwest School of Art from elementary to high school. I look forward to meeting you all this summer! Kalle is a Counselor for Summer Art Studios 2021.

I am Anahita (Ana) Younesi and I was born in one of the most beautiful cities in the Middle East, Isfahan, Iran. As I was living in an artistic atmosphere with a lot of monuments and handicrafts, I gravitated to the arts. I began painting in my childhood. I received both my diplomas, Bachelor’s, and master’s degree in Art with a focus on painting. I am now pursuing a Master of Fine Arts at UTSA. I have participated in various art exhibitions worldwide, worked as an art teacher for more than a decade and experienced different art fields. My focus is on working with children as an art instructor. Ana is a Counselor and Educator for Summer Art Studios 2021.
