WhileRobinMurrayisconsistently involvedonalllevelswithanytheatrical production–aswellascountlessother innerworkingsoftheCPTC,CarrieGuffy

willbedirectingallofthemusicalproductionsalongsidetheindividualtheatrical directorsforeachplay.Guffyhasperformed,directedandmusicallydirected overfiftymusicals.ShehasaBSin musiceducation,amastersinmusic education,andisadoctoralcandidatein musicalarts.Withsuchesteemedcredentials,themusicalsshehelpstodirect aredestinedtobeoutofthisworld.No mattertheexperienceofthedirector, castingshowsisalwaysdifficult,espe-

ciallywithsuchagifted groupofauditioners.“The talentthatcameoutmade itprettyhardforthedirectorstomakequickchoices,”saidMurray. Eventually,everyrolewas filledwithanactoror actressthatfitthecharacterperfectly.

KarenGozzoNolanlivedin Connecticutuntilshewas28years old,laterrelocatingtoVermont.She hasbeencreativesincechildhood, alwaysaloverofart.Asasingle mother,lifedidn'tallowhertofollow thedreamsofbeingaprofessional artist.WhilelivinginVermont,she wasthemanagerofahomedecoratingcenterforover13years.She workedcloselywithcontractors, selectinginteriorandexteriorproductsandcolorpalletsfornewhomes andcondominiumconstructionprojects.Sheproducedartallthroughout herlifeandafterbattlingararedisease,shevowedtofollowherlife-

longpassion.Itwasn'tuntilrelocating toRotondaWest,Floridain2013, thatshewaswellenoughtopursue herdream.

DASFmembershavebeenworking onnewpiecesofarttodisplay,andthe varietyoftheirdesignsandthesurfaces onwhichtheypaintisextensive.That’s nodoubtwhytheclub’sexhibitofmembers’latestartworkiseagerlyanticipatedbylibrarypatronsandvisitors.

HurricaneIanhitSanibelIslandlast Septemberanddevastatedeverythinginits path.Therewasconstantcontrastofthe soundofrescuehelicoptersoverheadand silence.Noonecoulddrivetotheislanddue tothebridgehavingbeendestroyed.

Weworriedaboutourartistfriendswho hadn’tevacuatedandourcharming108year oldbuildingthatheldourbeautifulgallery.We worriedthatthepaintings,sculpturesandjewelrythathadbeenleftwouldbefound destroyed.

Onebyoneweheardthatourartistfriends wereokay.Alloftheirhomeswereflooded anddestroyedbuttheywereokay.

Thedayfinallycamethatsomeonecould gocheckoutthestateofourbeautifulgallery. Thenewswastrulyincredible.TowerGallery wasvirtuallyuntouchedbythestorm.The backdoorwasblownopen.Theairconditionerwasfloodedout.Treesweredown.Our treesculptureinfrontofthegallerywasbent butthebuildingwasintactandourartworkwasvirtually untouched.Ourgallerylived.Miraclesdohappen.

Forthepast15years,SWFloridahas witnessedtheevolutionofPeaceDay thatbeganwithasmallgrassrootscelebrationatJayceeParkinCapeCoral, withafewhundredpeopleattending, andhasgrowntoincludethousandsof peoplewhocomeoutforadayofpeace withourcommunity.

AsPeaceDayexpanded,thevenue haschangedafewtimestosupplymore parkingspaces,asuddennewlocation duetodamagefromHurricaneIrma,and eventofindwaystoconnectandcelebratewhenwecouldn’tgatherinperson duetoCOVID-19.

Lastyear,HurricaneIancausedwide destructioninourarea,andthemost recentvenue,Wa-Ke-HatcheePark,is notyetavailableforevents.

“ArewegoingtolethurricanedamagestopPeaceDay?No,wearenot! Flowingwithchangeispartofbeing alive,andweknowthatpeaceisalive andwellinourcommunity,”saysorganizerZachariVanDyne.

Oneofthefounding membersoftheFortMyers ACMA,Raybeganplaying guitarduringthelate'60s folkscene.Withthesupportandinspirationoffellowlocalandtouringmusicians,hebeganwritingandplayinginearnestin2010.Traveling alongroadinashorttime,hismusicencompassesmanygenres, includingAmericana,folk,blues,ballads,andalittlebitofcountry.
