Directors Welcome Gavin Heydon Director

The first quarter of 2022 has been about coming back together as a team in the office and returning to a new normality in the day-to-day aspects of our personal and work lives. This quarter however did see some horrific flooding in Northern NSW that affected some of our clients and projects in the region, thankfully only impacting project schedules and costs, with no personnel injuries experienced. We are continuing to stay close to our clients and charitable partners in the area to provide support where we can. We forecasted a slower start to the year with the completion of some major works around Christmas. We have successfully worked our way through this quieter period and have extended our team and acquired work with new and existing clients.

Mitchell Purvis Director

This has allowed us to secure our new office location in Ballina which was fortunate to be spared from the flood waters that entered Ballina’s main streets. With the easing of COVID restrictions we finally got the chance to celebrate Projence’s belated 10th anniversary at Merewether Surfhouse along with our families, staff, clients and colleagues. As part of the event, we partnered with the Waves of Wellness Foundation (WoW) to hold a Charity Auction, raising over $37,000 for their Mental Health programs. Looking ahead to the remainder of 2022, we have our sights set on continued growth through some exciting new major projects on our doorstep.

Projence happenings Surfest Women’s Pro crowd funding lunch The Surfest Women's Pro Crowdfunding initiative began in 2015, headed by local business person, Colin Law, to ensure Newcastle’s iconic Surfest provides a world-class opportunity for women in the sport, enabling competitors to vie for $50,000 in prizemoney. Projence was one of 84 local businesses who contributed funds for the prize money pool and entered the draw to determine the naming-rights sponsor for the 2022 Women’s Pro event. Mitch and Gavin headed along to the crowd funding lunch at Merewether Surfhouse, where unfortunately Projence missed out on the win, with APP Consulting gaining 2022 naming rights. Projence is proud to be involved in this event that not only provides a great platform for women’s surfing, but provides opportunities for local women and girls to compete on the world stage.

Projence happenings Projence 10 Year Anniversary On February 25th, we finally had the opportunity to celebrate Projence's belated 10 year Anniversary, having postponed the event in 2021 due to COVID-19. The event, which was held at Merewether Surfhouse, allowed us to get together with family, staff, clients and colleagues who came from near and far to celebrate Projence's growth and success since the company was incorporated in 2011. The MC for the night, Adam Murray from NBN News, sat down on stage with Mitch and Gavin to find out about the history of Projence, and to ask all of the hard hitting questions about business and life as well as successes and learnings over the last 10 years. The evening was a great success and we look forward to celebrating again in another 10 years.
