Directors welcome Gavin Heydon Director

As we wrap up 2021, we reflect on the year that was. For many it has been another tough year managing life and business through COVID-19 and its many variants. When 2021 commenced we were extremely positive and did not expect it to unfold the way it did. We recognise the toll this has taken on everyone for different reasons. Even as we write this welcome, NSW and in particular the lower Hunter Valley, is going through another wave of high case numbers. Projence has been fortunate to be able to continue working throughout the lockdowns with the team growing closer, becoming more resilient and adaptable within the uncertain working environment. We appreciate the effort put in by the team and know they are looking forward to the holidays. Instead of client and staff Christmas gifts we are again donating to charities who are assisting those close to us, with this year a donation being made to Lifeline (Hunter) and the MS Society on their behalf.

Mitchell Purvis Director

Even with the adversity and disruption in 2021, Projence has executed our strategy and achieved the majority of our goals. We moved into a new office, formalised two new business units (Project Controls and the Northern Region) and have continued to build and retain a first-class team. Achieving these milestones drove us to achieve our revenue and sector diversification goals. We were also grateful to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, however, unfortunately we had to postpone the party until 2022. We encourage you and your families to take a break this Christmas period and reflect on the positives of this past year and look forward to the opportunities that next year may bring. The Projence offices will be closing on the 22nd of December 2021 and be re-opening on the 4th of January 2022. We wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe and we look forward to working with you all

in the new year.

- Gavin & Mitchell.

Northern Region Growing Infrastructure Needs The Northern and North Western Region of NSW has been identified by the NSW Government’s 20 Year Economic Vision for Regional NSW as one of the key growth areas in the state. The Queensland government has also identified the South Eastern and South West regions as substantial growth regions. With the major infrastructure projects recently completed including the Pacific Highway upgrade in NSW, the upgrades of the M1 Motorway in Southern Queensland and the commencement of the Inland Rail Project the region is more accessible than ever. There is a large desire for people to move away from the usual population hubs with the growing prevalence of remote working made possible by the NBN upgrades and experience driven by COVID. With the likes of the Inland Rail and Highway Upgrades there presents a significant growth opportunity for industries to utilise the improved transport facilities also.

The key infrastructure needs of the Northern Region are water supply, adequate roads, schools, medical services, and sustainable power options. It is important that this funding is utilised in an efficient and cost-effective manner to ensure the needs of the region are met. This will rely on thorough planning and execution of the works using the regions experts in the fields of engineering, project management, construction, and maintenance to support the government departments tasked with the upgrades. There is a significant opportunity for the Northern Region to maximise this once in a generation chance to establish itself as a desirable and economically viable region. Projence is on the front foot in focusing our previous offering to the Northern Region with the establishment of our regional office in Ballina. We are here, in the region, to help with any project needs from inception to operations.

With this growth there is a large demand not only on housing but also the supporting infrastructure. There has been unprecedented funding of up to $1.7B made available to regional NSW, through local government and other grants, of which the Northern Region is potentially going to receive up to $300M to improve infrastructure among other community improvements to support growth.

Fundraising Ducktober This October one of our Directors, Mitchell, participated in Ducktober. An annual event run by Waves of Wellness (WOW), raising funds and awareness for Australians living with mental illness. WOW provide surf therapy sessions to those who have mental ill-health and is free to all participants.

Cold water has many proven health benefits including reduced stress, increased circulation, and a boosted immune system. Mitchell raised a grand total of $4,260, coming up 5th on the leaderboard thanks to his family, friends, colleagues, and the donation matching given by Projence.

Every day for 20 days Mitchell immersed himself in cold showers, ocean swims and on the final day an ice bath for 5 minutes to raise money for the cause and to reap the benefits of the cold water.

Recent Wins Tailings Dam Capping and Rehabilitation

Projence will be providing project management support for two tailings dam capping projects for a Hunter Valley client. One of the projects consists of trialling the placement of mine spoil over a small portion of the tailings facility. At successful completion of the trial, the same methodology will continue to completely cap the remainder of the tailings facility.

Site Surveillance Four members of the Projence team assisted long term client ARTC to undertake site surveillance of several worksites on the Hunter Valley Network during their November track possession. The works included turnout formation repairs at Singleton, rerailing at Muswellbrook, points adjustment at Curlewis and Quirindi and supervision of a rail set unloading operation. Projence was able to provide resources to effectively manage the scopes safely with great feedback received from ARTC on our team.

Bridge Replacement Projence continued working on a flood gate repair project with DPIE, having to allow for multiple floods and an extended approval process due to environmental and cultural heritage site works being delayed due to COVID-19. Through our strong working relationship and understanding of our clients’ needs we have been awarded the project management of a bridge replacement within the Hunter Valley Flood Mitigation scheme.

Traffic and Noise Walls Projence has been engaged by Inland Rail (ARTC) to assist in the Project Management of the traffic impact and noise mitigation investigations on the N2NS project to allow for the completion of the task to the satisfaction of the Ministers Conditions of Approval (MCoA). Our scope includes the engagement and management of a team of 8 consultants all experts in their fields to consult with the community, develop solutions and assist in the satisfaction of the MCoA.
