Supernal Interview Into The Law of Time
By Anthony Kilner
Understanding the Law of Time (LOT) as uncovered and interpreted by José Argüelles also known as Valum Votan, is something that I have been adopting into my life for quite a few years now. Supernal Magazine first came into contact with Deborah Haight back in the
March 2021 Issue when we did a book review on The Hierophant- The Return of Memory. At this stage I learned about Deborah’s fascinating connection with José and the Law of Time.
As it turns out both her husband Brian, an Engineer and project manager, both are past Board members of the Foundation for the Law of Time and are passionate about José’s work and the continuation of his work.
I got to ask them a few questions about their experiences with José and the Law of Time. I’d also like to point out that there is a full bio on José HERE:

How did your connection with José come about?
“In 1987, Brian and I were living in Houston, Texas and raising four small children. We heard news of José Argüelles calling for a Harmonic Convergence event and we participated in a meditation for peace, the weekend of August 16-17th, 1987. We were vaguely familiar with José Argüelles from his book, Earth Ascending and there was definitely a pull towards his work. “In 1999, we moved to Idaho with our four children. It was immediately after we arrived in Idaho that I came across another one of José’s books, Surfers of the Zuvuya. Not more than a few weeks later we then found José had written an article posted in the Sedona Journal of Emergence on the subject of the Law of Time. The article intrigued us to the point that we knew we needed to know more.
“In the very back of the same magazine was an advertisement for a workshop in Oregon on the Law of Time.
It was a one week intensive to learn about the calendric system known as the Dreamspell. Brian was the chosen one to go to this workshop due to his interests in mathematics and organizing principles as an Engineer and project manager.
“Shortly after his arrival at the event, dressed as a so called normal person, people noticed that he was wearing a watch. The conversation leaned towards the false timing frequency of the artificial, mechanical clock and how humanity was the only species to operate within a false timing frequency known as 12:60 (twelve hours/sixty minutes), which is connected to the Gregorian calendar system consisting of 12 months with irregular days within each month, meant to confuse people.
“While Brian was still at the event, he noticed that his watch just stopped working - this was a sign in our opinion, so we followed the trail of synchronicity.”
What led you to join José as a Director?
“We studied the Dreamspell count, based on the Mayan calendric system, and soon were contacted by José Argüelles and his wife Lloydine. They were interested in having us join the board of directors for the Foundation for the Law of Time (FLT) and we accepted.

“We organized our days by understanding the frequencies that influenced the day, and we also organized our daily chores by what is known as earth families. We raised animals and created permaculture gardens and began living closer to nature as best we could, yet still having a foot in the world of the 12:60 for income purposes as we transitioned into the 13:20 lifestyle.
“At one point José envisioned natural time (13:20) communities around the world and he asked Brian to travel to South America to see what people in other regions were doing as a community and he found that a lot of the communities were using a bartering system for getting the goods and services they needed. This was an interesting concept, and one from eras long gone. It made us curious to see if we could implement something of that nature in our own community. We managed to do a little of this with our immediate neighbours, sharing eggs and fibre for milk, baked goods, and fruit.
“We also hosted three bioregional summits on behalf of the FLT. People studying the Law of Time came from all over the world with the intention of building relations, exchanging ideas on calendar change, community structure
and bartering systems. We had people from Chile, Argentina, and Australia amongst us, to name a few.
“We also attended a FLT Leadership conference in Oregon which is where we met Stephanie South for the first time. We hit it off and soon she came to stay with us as we all accomplished our functions on behalf of the Foundation for the Law of Time. Twenty years have now passed and we are still following the Thirteen Moon Calendar and participate in FLT functions.
“Over the years José’s work evolved and Stephanie South was chosen to be his apprentice, where they worked on a 7-volume collection called The Cosmic History Chronicles. Stephanie continues to evolve the work and we follow her work closely to this day.” See Supernal’s interview with Stephanie South on Page 20.”

What did José mean to you?
Deborah responded: “He was someone who gave a new point of view on why we are here on this planet and how we can live a life connected with nature. He made me think in a whole new way and I began to scroll back through my life seeing the weavings of synchronicity that led me to our meeting.
“When I first met José, it was at a Leadership Conference. He made sure to give everyone there some one-on-one time with him and so when it was my turn I shared a vision with him that I had when I was in my early 20’s. It was about a new Earth. He listened intently and said it was a very important vision. A few months later, he and Lloydine called to say that they would like to come for a visit. We shared a lovely few days together and it was then, after he checked out our family, that he knew that he wanted us on the FLT Board of Directors.
“So when you asked what does José mean to me, I would say that he was an ever-present guide and mentor. Because of him, our lives changed forever. Once we began to work with the Law of Time on a daily basis, it up levelled our consciousness and this was the whole point. José was one of the most significant individuals that we have ever encountered.”
What was José like as a person?
“He was a gentle person, soft-spoken and witty. He was completely devoted to his mission. I had never seen someone as dedicated to his work as José. He was a ceremonialist. Everything he did was purposeful. When we were together for our board meetings or conferences he always started off the meetings with a song from one of his many flutes and he would always recite the prayer to the seven directions.
“I loved to listen to him speak. His mannerisms were very distinct. He would give a little hum after he said something that was significant, to give people a clue to listen. I was once sitting across from José at the dinner table when he began to receive incoming. He described them as fractals beaming into his mind.
“José led an extraordinary life and he encouraged many thousands of people to get back to natural time and live a life of purpose. He was an exemplar and it was a pleasure knowing him.”
“The Law of Time has given us a deeper understanding of our true nature, our gifts, and the ability to merge within nature at a deeper level.”
What has living with the LOT done for you as a family? “The Law of Time has given us a deeper understanding of our true nature, our gifts, and the ability to merge within nature at a deeper level. It will be different for each individual that immerses themselves into it as it is more than a calendar. It is a way for you to move about the world in a synchronic way, where the timing of things is impeccable, and people show up right when you think of them, and life circumstances become clearer when you can track the codes of the day.”
