Try to Book Your Flight on a Tuesday

While flight prices fluctuate constantly, Tuesday has consistently proven to be one of the best days to book a flight. This is largely because many airlines release weekly deals and discounted fares late on Monday or early Tuesday, which prompts competing airlines to adjust their own pricing in response. So by Tuesday afternoon, you’ll often see a wider range of lower fares across multiple airlines as they

This brief window typically lasts through early Wednesday and can offer some of the most competitive flight prices of the week. It’s not a hard rule, but statistically, many travelers have had luck scoring cheaper flights during this timeframe. Take advantage of this tip by setting fare alerts in advance and checking your routes early on Tuesday mornings for the best shot at landing a big deal!

Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates One of the easiest ways to save money on your fall flight is to be flexible with your travel dates. For example, there is typically less demand for flights that take off on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so it is usually

This special anniversary edition features a two-hour visual journey through all three seasons of the iconic animated series, projected on a full-size cinema screen with new elements and artistic surprises crafted for this special anniversary edition that offers fresh perspectives on the show’s legacy.

Preserving the original dialogue and sound effects, the concert replaces the recorded score with a powerful live orchestra, performing the legendary music of Emmy Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman, the creative mastermind behind the show’s original music, in perfect sync with the action on screen.

“When I started work on Avatar: The Last Airbender, it was a dream to have the music performed by an orchestra,” said Zuckerman. “Now, over 20 years later, with the concert tour, that dream has come true in a way I never could have imagined. It’s profound for me to see the Avatar community of fans — so wonderfully diverse — come together to celebrate the show through its music. The atmosphere of joy at the concerts is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I’m elated that more people will continue to share in it.”

From taiko and erhu to soaring strings and delicate woodwinds, the music comes alive alongside the adventures of Aang, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Zuko and more, all brought together by Zuckerman’s expanded arrangements and creative collaboration with original series editor Jeff Adams. Control ‘Bad’ Cholesterol

(Family Features)

Getting your Cholesterol checked, and talking with your doctor about steps to control High Cholesterol, could save your life. If you, or someone you love, have experienced a Heart Attack or Stroke, you know how life-changing those moments can be. What many don’t realize is high LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) Cholesterol often plays a silent role behind the scenes. Taking control of Cholesterol numbers starts by knowing your LDL number and working with your doctor to put together an appropriate treatment plan.

Your body produces all the Cholesterol it needs to stay healthy. Cholesterol helps make new cells, some Hormones and substances that aid in food digestion. However, having too much Cholesterol can contribute to serious health risks. Knowing more about Cholesterol and its role in your body and overall health can help you protect yourself from potential life-threatening conditions like Heart Attack or Stroke - even if you’ve already had one. Learn more with this information from the American Heart Association’s “Lower Your LDL Cholesterol Now” initiative, nationally sponsored by Amgen, so you can take control of your heart health.

Know Your Numbers

Keeping tabs on your Cholesterol is an important step toward managing potentially serious risks to your Heart, Brain and overall health. LDL Cholesterol, also known as “bad” Cholesterol, can cause fatty buildup called Plaque in your arteries.

Nearly 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. has high LDL (bad) Cholesterol, but many don’t know until it’s too late. Having too much LDL (bad) Cholesterol can silently increase your risk for Heart Attack and Stroke when it goes unchecked, but you have the power to change that.

“A lot of people don’t realize they have high LDL (bad) Cholesterol because it doesn’t have symptoms,” said Dr. Amit Khera, American Heart Association National Volunteer Expert and Cardiologist. “That’s why I always encourage my patients to get their Cholesterol checked and have honest conversations with their doctors. Knowing your LDL number is one of the most important things you can do to protect your Heart.”

Studies show an LDL at or below 100 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) is ideal for most adults. If you have a history of Heart Attack or Stroke and are already on a Cholesterol-lowering medication, your doctor may aim for your LDL to be 70 mg/ dL or lower.

Get Tested

Don’t wait; schedule a Cholesterol test as soon as possible. High Cholesterol often has no symptoms, so it’s important to get your Cholesterol checked even if you feel fine. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends all adults 20 and older have their LDL (bad) Cholesterol checked every 4-6 years as long as risk remains low. If you have had a Heart Attack or Stroke, talk to your doctor about the right frequency of testing.

A blood test to measure your Cholesterol numbers, called a “fasting” or “non-fasting Lipid profile or panel,” assesses several types of fat in the blood. The test gives four results: total Cholesterol, LDL (bad) Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol and Triglycerides (blood fats).

Talk to Your Doctor

Your doctor is there to help you reach your health goals, including keeping your LDL (bad) Cholesterol at a healthy number. Making decisions together is the best way to create a treatment plan you’ll be more likely to stick to. If you don’t under-

Cutting Medication Costs Without Cutting Corners

As the cost of living continues to rise, many Americans are being forced to make difficult financial decisions. Skipping medications might seem like a quick way to save money, but this can lead to serious health risks and higher costs down the road. In fact, research shows 27% of Americans skip prescriptions each month due to cost. More than half of Americans who filled a prescription this year said the cost felt like a financial burden.

Cindy George, MPH, a Senior Personal Finance Editor at GoodRx and nationally recognized health journalist, shared expert advice to help consumers improve their health care cost literacy, reduce expenses and stay healthy without overspending.

Understand the True Cost of Medications

Many people assume the pharmacy counter price is non-negotiable, but the cost of the same medication can vary significantly.

“Costs can vary by upwards of $100 from one pharmacy to the next, even in the same ZIP code,” George said. “Understanding how to compare prices and find the most affordable option is incredibly valuable.”

By entering the medication name, along with dosage and ZIP code, individuals can quickly compare prices in their area using GoodRx. Using the website or

can explore alternative forms of a medication and get suggestions to help you talk with your doctor or pharmacist about more affordable options.

When Insurance Falls Short, You Still Have Options

Only about half of prescriptions are fully covered by insurance without restrictions.

“Even insured individuals are struggling to keep up with health care costs,” George said. “More are finding themselves underinsured, and that’s making basic health care harder to afford and access.”

That’s why comparison shopping is increasingly important, including price comparisons at different pharmacies.

“Cost comparison tools can help people find lower prices on both generic and brand-name medications, regardless of their coverage status,” George said.

While cost comparison tools are not a full replacement for health insurance, they can be a helpful way to reduce medication costs and avoid unexpected surprises at the pharmacy.

Build Confidence Through Cost Literacy

Cost literacy involves understanding how insurance works, what’s included in a plan’s formulary, how to interpret billing documents and how to challenge costs that seem too high. According to George,

stand something, ask for further clarification.

Discuss your risk factors, including your personal and family medical history.

Having a candid conversation about your lifestyle can also help pinpoint potential risk factors and areas you can work to reduce your risk and improve your health.

If your LDL Cholesterol number is high, your doctor may recommend treatment options. Together, you can review the benefits, risks and side effects to decide on the treatment plan that works best for you.

Take Action Early

The sooner you manage high LDL (bad) Cholesterol, the more you can reduce your risk of Heart Attack and Stroke. Proactively monitoring and taking steps to slow or reverse your numbers can halt or delay buildup in your arteries. In addition, treatment options can be more effective when a high LDL number is detected early.

Learn more about the steps you can take to combat high LDL (bad) Cholesterol at: www.heart.org/LDL.

Living with High LDL (Bad) Cholesterol

If your LDL (bad) Cholesterol is elevated, lifestyle changes can help lower your overall risk of Heart Disease, but may not be enough to counteract individual risk factors such as genetics and family history. Check your LDL (bad) Cholesterol number then talk to your doctor about next steps, including these changes to take back control of heart health.

Eat a Heart-Healthy Diet

From a dietary standpoint, the best way to lower your Cholesterol is to follow a balanced diet, which is low in Saturated Fats, Trans Fats and Cholesterol.

dairy products made with whole milk. Choose lean cuts of meat and skim, lowfat or fat-free dairy products instead. It also means limiting fried foods and cooking with healthy oils, such as liquid vegetable oils instead of butter or coconut oil, which are high in Saturated Fat and Cholesterol.

Be More Physically Active

A sedentary lifestyle lowers HDL (good) Cholesterol. Less HDL means there’s less good Cholesterol to remove bad Cholesterol from your arteries. At least 150 minutes of moderateintensity aerobic exercise a week is enough to lower both Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure. Brisk walking, swimming, bicycling or even vigorous yard work can fit the bill. In addition, the American Heart Association recommends adding moderate- to high-intensity muscle-strengthening activity - such as resistance training or weightlifting - at least two days each week.

Quit Smoking

When a person with unhealthy Cholesterol numbers also smokes or vapes, the risk of Heart Disease increases even more. Smoking also compounds other risk factors for Heart Disease, such as High Blood Pressure and Diabetes. By quitting, smokers can lower their Triglycerides and increase their HDL Cholesterol numbers. Quitting can also help reduce damage and improve how the arteries function.

Lose Weight

Living with excess weight or obesity tends to raise the chances of increasing LDL (bad) Cholesterol and lowering good Cholesterol. Weight loss of even 5-10% may help improve some Cholesterol num

thing is unclear, don’t hesitate to ask your provider, pharmacist or insurance representative to walk you through your bills or Explanation of Benefits.”

Simple Strategies Can Add Up George recommends a few strategies that can reduce out-of-pocket costs for medications:

• Always compare prices, including your insurance’s copay. “People assume their insurance is the best deal for accessing a medication at the

• Consider a 90-day supply. For chronic conditions, ask your health care professional whether you can switch from a 30-day supply of medication to a 90-day supply.

• Try delivery. Ordering through a mail-order pharmacy can add convenience and, in many cases, offer lower prices.

Promise Fund Quadruples Women’s Health Programs

Promise Fund, a West Palm Beachbased NonProfit whose mission is to increase survivorship from Breast and Cervical Cancer by providing guided support and free to low-cost access to screenings and beyond, announced its largest growth to date, expanding from one Women’s Health Program to four with the opening of three new sites collocated at Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. This milestone quadruples access to lifesaving Breast and Cervical Cancer screenings for women with limited or no health insurance and demonstrates the success of Promise Fund’s innovative care model.

Since launching its pilot program in June 2020, Promise Fund has already provided nearly 10,000 screenings and 5,000 Pap tests, and it has navigated 247 cases of Cancer detected through its screenings – proof that early detection saves lives. By scaling its model, the Promise Fund is set to help thousands more women across

South Florida.

The new Women’s Health Programs are embedded in FQHCs to bring care directly into underserved communities. Locations include Genesis Community Health Center in Boynton Beach; BCOM Broward Community & Family Health Centers in Hollywood; and FoundCare/ Yolette Bonnet Center in West Palm Beach.

Each site features State-Of-The-Art 3D Mammography equipment and advanced AI technology from industry leader Hologic, along with on-site diagnostic and ultrasounds, cervical screenings, treatment (LEEP and colposcopy), and navigation services to guide women from screening through diagnosis and care.

The expansion was marked by remarks from Susan G. Komen and Promise Fund Founder Nancy G. Brinker, along with U.S. Congresswomen Lois Frankel, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Sheila CherfilusMcCormick, and Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins.

“Through our pilot program at FoundCare in Palm Springs, we’ve already seen a remarkable increase in screenings,” said Brinker. “We’ve proven this model works, and now we’re taking it to scale. We can and must do everything in our power to ensure no woman dies simply because she lacked access to care. That has always been our mission— and our promise.”

In addition to securing the equipment and funding necessary to provide the screenings in each of the locations, the Promise Fund has embedded each center with a Promise Fund Navigator who provides guided support to women throughout the process. Additional Promise Fund Navigators will be meeting women where they are – from churches and schools to community events and food drives – to provide education on the importance of screening and early detection.

much cheaper to travel on those days than on the weekends. Use fare calendars on booking platforms to compare prices across different days. If your travel schedule allows for it, planning your trip around the lowest fare days (rather than locking in specific dates) can help you save a lot of money on your flight.

Set a Fare Alert on a Flight Comparison Website

Instead of checking individual airline websites one by one, streamline your search with a flight comparison website like SlickTrip. These helpful platforms allow you to compare fares across multiple airlines, highlight the cheapest days to fly, and they also have a flexible date search feature that makes it easy to spot the most affordable travel windows. Also, one of the most valuable features of these online platforms is their ability to set fare alerts for specific flight routes. Once activated, you’ll receive notifications via email or a mobile app when a flight price drops, so you can time your purchase for maximum savings!

With so many factors influencing airfare prices, using a flight comparison website with a fare drop alert is one of the most efficient and effective ways to secure the best deal.

Skip the Checked Bag (If You Can)

Many of the lowest flight fares in autumn (especially on budget airlines) are for “basic economy” tickets that don’t include a checked bag. If you can travel with just a carry-on, you’ll save on fees and also avoid baggage claim delays. Packing light for a longer trip might seem challenging, but it’s often easier than expected. If you’re concerned about fitting everything into a carry-on, research nearby laundromats at your destination. Spending a few dollars to wash a load of clothes mid-trip is far more cost-effective than paying $35+ for a checked bag full of extra outfits.

With a little planning, you can travel lighter, save money, and simplify your journey.

Use an Incognito Window & Clear Browser Cookies When Searching

Have you ever researched a flight route in the morning and then checked it again later the same day, only to discover that the price has gone up? You’re not alone. While airlines and travel sites often deny raising fares based on repeated flight searches (a practice known as dynamic pricing), it’s wise to take simple precautions. Use your browser’s incognito or private mode when searching for flights to prevent websites from storing your search history through cookies.

Also, if you’re checking fares repeatedly over several days, consider clearing your cookies in between the search sessions. These small steps can help ensure you’re seeing the most accurate, unbiased pricing. This can potentially save you from paying more than you need to.

Don’t Assume a Round-Trip Fare Is Always Cheaper

While it might seem more convenient to book a roundtrip ticket with a single airline, doing so could mean missing out on significant savings. In many cases, booking two separate one-way flights (possibly with different airlines) can be cheaper. This mix-and-match approach will help you find the best price for each leg of your journey. It also gives you greater flexibility, as you will be able to fly into one city and return from another (a.k.a. open jaw travel). This option can expand your itinerary, allow for more exploration, and still keep your travel budget in check.

planes that stay overnight at the airport, so you won’t have to worry about your plane coming in from an inbound flight and being delayed.

Keep in mind that delays compound as the day stretches on, so a delay at one airport can ripple through the whole system. So flying out early in the morning can prevent you from getting caught in the delay domino effect.

Follow Airlines on Social Media to Catch Flash Sales Airlines and travel deal websites often announce flash sales, promo codes, and exclusive discounts on their Social Media

regional airports. Therefore, even if your final destination is a smaller city, it may be more cost-effective to fly into a nearby major hub and then continue your journey via train, bus, renting a car, or a short regional flight. While it might add a bit of travel time, the potential savings can make the extra effort well worth it. It may be wise to also consider nearby airports in a major metropolitan area. Major cities often have multiple airports, and sometimes a short drive or train ride can save you a considerable amount on your flight. For example, if you’re flying to the San Francisco Bay Area, you could also check prices for Oakland or San Jose

channels. They sometimes even share these deals on their social channels before posting them anywhere else. By following airlines and travel deal sites on Social Media, you’ll be among the first to know about limited-time offers that can save you serious money on your trip. These deals tend to go fast, so staying plugged in gives you a key advantage when it comes to booking the best flights.

Always compare both round-trip and one-way combinations before you book!

Fly Early in the Morning or Late at Night

Flights that depart early in the morning or late at night (like red-eyes) are often significantly cheaper because they’re less in demand. So if you’re flexible and willing to travel during these less popular hours, you can save a substantial amount on your flight. And there’s another added bonus of flying early in the morning: fewer incoming flights mean fewer chainreaction delays. Early flights often use

Who wouldn’t want to save big bucks on their autumn travels? Booking affordable flights for your fall trip is all about strategy and flexibility. With fewer travelers in the skies and better deals available, fall is one of the most rewarding times to explore new places without breaking the bank. Take Action Against Hunger In America

A $1 donation Can Provide Approximately Four Meals To A Family In Need

Feeding South Florida® – the leading hunger-relief organization serving Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties – is commemorating Hunger Action Month this September with various activities to encourage South Floridians to “Go Orange” to stand against hunger. Hunger Action Month, a nationwide initiative created by Feeding America®, takes place throughout September and is designed to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in America and inspire others to take action toward ending it. This year, Feeding South Florida’s theme is “Power in Every Action.”

Currently, in South Florida, there are more than 1.2 million food-insecure individuals. One in nine individuals in South Florida remains uncertain about where they will get their next meal due to inflation, the strained supply chain, rising fuel prices, and increased housing costs, among other factors. Proceeds raised during the month-long initiative will allow Feeding South Florida to fulfill its mission to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.

An online auction during the month will allow bidders access to fun, unique items while supporting Feeding South Florida’s hunger relief efforts. “Hunger Heroes” tshirts will be available for purchase to raise awareness about hunger. Monetary donations will go further during

In addition to the shows Galluppi’s is known for, the initial lineup of new shows features two national tour stops and an exciting partnership with The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a nationally recognized, award-winning concert series that introduces kids to the music of iconic artists in an interactive, family-friendly way. Sand Bypass And Save Our Homes Under Attack

For well over 13 years Broward County has been planning the Sand Bypass at the port. For our residents that have the beach as their back yard this has been a long awaited project intended to help keep sand on our beaches. In twenty years, we have been through three renourishment projects that are expensive and only last for a few years.

Beginning Wednesday, October 1, 2025, on-street parking at several locations in Hollywood will transition to paid spaces.

The affected areas include:

Over the past years the Army Corps, Broward County and cities have been paying for beach renourishment projects. While these are vital, they have become more expensive. It has also been challenging to acquire the right sand. In the past the funding in percentage would include 70% federal, 20% county and 10% localities and those numbers have flipped to 70% to the localities.

Our most recent beach renourishment project was just completed. We had to perform the project while trucking in the sand. We can no longer borrow from the ocean bed. For years, I, along with my colleagues, have been asking for relief. We are unable to place barriers like jetties along the coast. We cannot continue to do the same thing over and over. The bypass is a welcomed relief.

For over 90 years the dredging of Port Everglades and continued expansion stopped the natural flow of sand to Hollywood Dania Beach and Hallandale Beach. The shoal located just north of the port benefitted from too much sand while the southern beach has been starved for sand. Residents who live north of the port have been pushed back for years; any changes would impact them adversely. The jetty also exacerbated wave action south that created many hot spots. These are created when current swings back into the shoreline and pulls sand out to sea.

The project creates a 7-acre, 50 foot

deep trap that will be created from blasting above the jetty. The trap will collect the sand. The sand will then be pumped out through a hydraulic bypass pump system across the inlet. This is not the first bypass system in our state. Palm Beach has had a bypass system.

After extensive research, the project was approved in 2020 only to be delayed. During surveying, the engineers found Queen Conch. Recently, they were added to the list of endangered species. The County was notified by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that reinitiation of formal consultation for queen conch was necessary before the project could begin. After nearly 12 months of coordination, County staff shared last week the agencies involved approved a working plan. The project is moving forward in October with the construction project.

Save our Homes Caps Assessments is working to protect your investment. There

are real savings available; Florida voters approved Save Our Homes to protect residents from unpredictable property tax bills. It limits yearly increases on homesteaded properties to 3% or inflation rates, whichever is lower. Even as prices rise, tax bills remain stable. Meanwhile, home insurance premiums have more than doubled since 2019. This buffer between market value and taxable value protects full-time Floridian Homeowners. It’s a form of “Homefield Advantage” for year-round Florida property taxpayers. In 2024, Florida homeowners saved over $312 billion thanks to Save Our Homes. In a major breakthrough for marine innovation and sustainability, Floridabased Altitude Water has partnered with RM Design Pro to develop the SXR 68 XL, a 68-foot hybrid yacht that will become the first U.S.-built vessel to generate its own drinking water directly from air using fully integrated atmospheric water generation (AWG) technology.

Designed from inception with built-in sustainability, not bolted on, the yacht also features hybrid propulsion, solar regeneration, AI-based controls, and a fully American-made supply chain; delivering off-grid performance without sacrificing luxury or environmental standards.

“This is more than a yacht, it’s an offgrid, energy-efficient vessel that produces clean drinking water without relying on desalination or bottled water,” said Jeff Szur, Founder and COO of Altitude Water. “By designing the AWG system directly into the yacht’s core infrastructure, we’ve eliminated the taste, reliability, and maintenance issues that plague traditional marine water systems.”

The SXR 68 XL is being positioned as a new benchmark in sustainable yachting, meeting stringent United States Coast Guard (USCG), The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), National Marine

Manufacturers Association (NMMA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier IV standards to ensure charterreadiness and fast-track certification. It is being entirely designed and built in the United States.

The partnership was initiated through M2 Holistic Studio, a design firm known for integrating wellness, sustainability, and technology into luxury environments. As distributors and early adopters of Altitude Water’s technology in new homes, M2 introduced Altitude to yacht designer Rogerio Mariani during the SXR 68 XL’s conceptual design phase.

“I knew there was a reason I chose M2 Holistic Studio to lead the interior design of the yacht,” said Rogerio Mariani, Founder of RM Design Pro. “When they introduced Altitude Water’s technology as a potential sustainable solution for onboard water, I was instantly intrigued.”

“We integrated Altitude’s AWG system with our AI-based Yacht Integrative Control Systems & Monitoring (YICSM), a breakthrough that can now be replicated in future builds,” continued Mariani. “After several meetings with the Altitude team, it became clear we weren’t just improving this vessel, we were creating a system that could help transform the yachting experience.”

“We immediately saw the value of bringing atmospheric water generation into the marine world,” said Marta Halwany and Mahria Carolihna, CoFounders of M2 Holistic Studio. “Our goal has always been to design spaces that nourish the body, mind, and planet. This project was an opportunity to make that philosophy tangible on the water.”

Unlike conventional reverse osmosis (RO) water makers, which rely on seawater desalination and extensive filtration, Altitude Water’s AWG system creates pure, great-tasting water from the humidity in the air- no plumbing to the sea, no salt corrosion, and no plastic bottle waste.

“We’ve placed portable AWG units on yachts for years,” Szur said. “But space is at a premium, and the real vision was always full integration. With this partnership, we’re finally delivering a built-in, selfreliant water solution that can scale across the yachting industry.”

The result is a fully modular, solarregenerative yacht that eliminates the need for external water provisioning, expands off-grid capabilities, and enhances charter Return on Investment (ROI) -- all while dramatically reducing environmental impact.
