EFA says NO to the Italian Constitutional reform L’ALE dice NO alla riforma Costituzionale Italiana During the past years, on many occasions, the regions, territories and the people living in the Italian Republic have asked for a change and have requested reforms. The demands and expectations focused on more autonomy and independence rather than a new centralism.

Nel corso degli anni ed a più riprese, le regioni, i territori e i popoli che vivono nella Repubblica Italiana hanno desiderato un cambiamento e hanno richiesto delle riforme. Quello che oggi si chiede ancor più insistentemente, non è un nuovo centralismo, ma più autonomia ed indipendenza per i territori.

Even if, clearly, the need for reforms is beyond any doubt, this objective cannot be achieved at all cost. Before questioning in the merit this botched legislative exercise, the European Free Alliance (EFA), expresses concern for the superficiality that characterizes the political debate in this regard.

Sebbene, sia chiaro, la necessità, di riforme sia indubbia, non è certo ad ogni costo che questo obbiettivo debba essere perseguito. Prima ancora di contestare nel merito questo malriuscito esercizio legislativo, l’Alleanza Libera Europea (ALE), esprime preoccupazione riguardo alla superficialità che caratterizza il dibattito politico al riguardo.

The Italian government claims that the reforms will bring the Republic up to the pace of time. What instead will happen it is the contrary, an inversion of the “democratic pyramid” and the estrangement of the decisional power from the citizens.

Il governo Italiano sostiene che le riforme porteranno la Repubblica al passo coi tempi. Quello che sembra delineato è invece il contrario, con un rovesciamento della “piramide democratica” e del livello decisionale che si allontana sempre di più dai cittadini.

We strongly believe that new emerging nations and territories represent the future of Europe. A Europe where nations will interact on equal terms with each other and where the state centralism will make room for the government of territories and local autonomies. We believe in a future where the citizens will be again able to take decisions, actively take part in politics, respect and preserve their linguistic and cultural identity, as well as those of others.

Crediamo fermamente che le nuove nazioni e territori emergenti rappresentino il futuro dell’Europa. Un’Europa in cui le Nazioni dialoghino alla pari tra di loro ed in cui il centralismo statale lasci spazio al governo dei territori e delle autonomie locali. Crediamo in un futuro in cui le decisioni siano prese nuovamente dal cittadino, che possa attivamente prendere parte all’attività politica, nel rispetto delle identità, linguistiche e culturali individuali e collettive.

To those highlighting the historical, ultimate need of these constitutional reforms, we oppose the equally important need of a political reform for Italy.

Italy’s autonomous provinces like South Tyrol are facing the risk of reversing the trend that so far has protected their autonomy. Instead of moving towards new forms of autonomy and independence, the Italian central government and the Constitutional Court seem more and more eager to erase what is defined by now, and label it an anomaly, a situation of foolish privilege.

A chi rivendica la necessità improrogabile, storica, di queste riforme costituzionali, noi ci sentiamo di contrapporre l’altrettanto necessaria riforma della politica in Italia Le Provincie, autonome come il Südtirol sono di fronte alla minaccia di veder invertire la tendenza che fino ad ora ne ha preservato l’autonomia. Invece che procedere verso ulteriori forme di autonomia ed indipendenza infatti il governo Italiano e la Corte Costituzionale sembrano sempre più ansiosi di cancellare quella che viene descritta oramai come un’anomalia, una situazione di insensato privilegio.

EFA expresses its support for the initiatives undertaken by its member parties active in the Italian state. We consider that a wrong solution to a problem creates just the illusion to have solved it. We demand that the debate about the reforms reopens to provide effective, clear and democratic solutions to all Italian citizens.

L’ALE esprime il suo pieno supporto alle iniziative intraprese dai suoi partiti membri attivi nello stato Italiano. Riteniamo che una soluzione sbagliata al problema crei la falsa illusione di averlo risolto. Vogliamo che il dibattito sulla riforma si riapra e dia soluzioni concrete, democratiche ed efficaci a tutti i cittadini Italiani.
