XFACTorFILES MAY 2012

PROM 2012 This year’s prom was a major success. The gym was decorated with bright colors and imaginative ideas. There was a lot of fun, dancing , awesome outfits, and memories to last a lifetime. There was a DJ, snacks, and a photographer. This year the prom king and queen were:

Killian Wood and Keonya Jackson. The junior class would also like to thank all families and friends of the school and parish for their help with setting up and taking down and financially. A special thanks goes out to Ms. Humlicek, the Junior class sponsor, for all her help

this year. Over all, prom this year was fun and memorable. I'm sure it will be just as amazing next year.

This year the class of 2012 went to St. Louis, Missouri for the senior trip. They left Saint Xavier at 6:00 a.m. on Friday. The drive down to St. Louis was six long hours. When we got to St. Louis, we stayed at the City Museum until 6:00 p.m. Afterwards, the class went out to eat b-b-q. When we went back to the hotel, we changed so we could go swimming. On Saturday, the class got ready and went to Six Flags. We stayed at Six Flags until 7:30 p.m. and then started our six hour drive back home. We finally got back to Junction City at 3:00 a.m.

The talent show will take place on May 18th at 7 in the gymnasium. There are many participants that will entertain you with their talents and maybe even surprise you. On May 9th, our high school ecology club participated in the Kansas State Envirothon in Salina at the Webster Conference Center. Twenty teams from all across Kansas attended and competed to be the team that goes to the National Envirothon in Pennsylvania this July. In the Envirothon, each member of the team was assigned a section and learned all about that subject, which included Forestry, Soils, Current Issue (Non-Point Source Pollution), Aquatics, and Wildlife. After the lectures, all teams were given 25 minutes to complete a test for each subject. An oral presentation on Non-Point Source Pollution was optional for extra points for placement. Our team gave it their all and received a 22 out of 25 for their presentation. Overall, the team placed 17th out of 20. While they may not have made it to Nationals, they still came out with extensive knowledge of the environment and had tons of fun! 2012 Ecology/Envirothon Members:
