Grazia’s Day in Florence
Piazza Santa Croce
Grazia grabs a sandwich around noon, and wishes to sit and eat in a park, looking at the flowers. She heads to the nearest piazza, Piazza Santa Croce.
To her dismay, there are no flowers or any greenspace in the park.
She’s tired, and decides to find a place here to sit and eat anyways. There aren’t many benches available on the sunny side, but Grazia feels awkward walking across the open plaza to find a seat.
She decides to walk around and finds an open spot in front of the Santa Croce Church.
She admires the beautiful facing, and thinks about the history of the city, questioning why only one side of the facade is complete.
After lunch, Grazia continues her walk.
Piazza della Republica
Grazia walks admiring the city all the way down to Piazza della Republica.
Upon arriving, Michael Kors, Guess, Prada, and Calvin Klein all draw her in.
Having adult children has given her disposable income, and what better way to spend it than on a day with herself!
After going into her favorite stores, she finds very few things she likes. These stores are marketing to young people, but what younging could afford this?
Via del Corso
Grazia looks around and realizes she’s surrounded by tourists!
Tired, she walks on to seek out a cappucino without tourist pricing. She starts down Via del Corso, and as she gets further down she finds cheaper pricing.
Grateful for her cappucino she sits inside, knowing there’s no calm area in the narrow, busy street.
Naptime
Tired, Grazia retires home for a nap. She goes to sleep and dreams of her younger years in the city center.
Grazia enjoyed her day in the center, but loves her family and neighborhood, and is happy to live her life as a grandmother today.
After waking up, Grazia misses her younger years, but is happy to be where she is now.
She prepares to go to the COOP to get chicken and potatoes to eat with her sons and gransons at dinner that night.
After this she picks up her youngest grandson, Julio, and takes him to play and get gelato.
