SOCIAL SERVICE WORKER PROGRAM

The Social Service Worker program provides you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to work with individuals, families and communities who may be dealing with a stressful or traumatic event. You will learn effective crisis intervention strategies to develop the necessary skills to assist clients in addressing challenging situations, while enhancing their social functioning. Experiential learning opportunities such as clinical practical labs and fieldwork placements, provide you with practical opportunities to apply theoretical learning.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS

Early childhood educators are professionals who work as members of multidisciplinary teams that may include behavioural therapists, speech pathologists, consultants, parents and school representatives. In this program, you will research, plan, carry out and evaluate a full range of program and curriculum activities designed to help individual children reach their full developmental potential.

PATHWAY OPPORTUNITIES

Northern College’s School of Community Services has an extensive list of transfer agreements with universities in Ontario, across Canada and abroad. Our articulation agreement with Algoma University provides our Social Service Worker and ECE graduates with the opportunity to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or Community Development.
