WELDING ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY.

Located at our Kirkland Lake Campus, our welding education facility associated with an applied research centre. Northern College is an authorized training body for the International Institute of Welding (IIW) Certification as an International Welding Technologist through the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) provides technology graduates with job opportunities in 56 IIW member countries.

HIGHLIGHTS

Students learn to develop, qualify and implement welding procedures; to use their knowledge of welding, metallurgy, mechanics and electrical engineering in the design and manufacturing of safety structures; and to inspect and maintain the integrity of such structures while they are in service.

Our optional co-op program allows you to earn while you learn. Graduates from our Welding Engineering Technology programs have gone on to start careers in a wide variety of industries locally and internationally.

PATHWAY OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates from our Welding Engineering Technician programs are eligible to qualify to CSAW178.2 as visual welding inspectors. We also have articulation agreements with Athabasca University and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UIOT), which means you can apply some of your college education to a university degree.

Graduates of the Welding Technician Program may choose to continue their studies and complete an additional year in order to obtain a diploma in Welding Engineering Technology.

Northern College’s School of Welding Engineering technology is leading the way in welding education as an authorized training body for the International Institute of Welding (IIW)

CWB

Certification as an International Welding Technologist through the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) provides our technology graduates with job opportunities in 56 IIW member countries across the globe. Welder Fitter graduates may complete Canadian Bureau Testing.

OACETT

Graduates from our Technician and Technology programs may obtain certification through the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT).

MAJIC

Northern College’s School of Welding Technology is the only welding education facility in Ontario associated with an applied research centre. The Materials Joining Innovation Centre (MaJIC), located at our Kirkland Lake Campus, provides students access to additional sophisticated state-of-the-art equipment and allows them to work on real-life industry derived projects.
