LIVE MUSIC

Each of our campus communities hosts live music throughout the year, with larger scale festivals happening over the summer months. Whether it’s Rock on the River in Timmins in July or Kirkland Lake’s Homecoming festival over the last week of June, these music festivals feature a little something for everyone. If you’re interested in taking in some local talent, Timmins hosts a free summer concert series which features a variety of local bands and musicians in beautiful McIntyre Park.

COMMUNITY FESTIVALS

Whatever your interests, northeastern Ontario has an event for you. The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge is a weekend long celebration of all things kayaking and canoeing in Timmins at the end of August. Featuring live music, local vendors and dozens of kayak races, the event has quickly grown to become one of the largest of its kind in the country. If horsepower and tire smoke are more your speed, check out Notre Dame du Nord’s annual Truck Rodeo just a few minutes over the Quebec border near our Haileybury Campus, or travel a little further afield to take in Smooth Rock Falls’ annual Truck Fest for a symphony of speed, sound and 18 wheeled fury.

If a more relaxed celebration of the season sharpens your skates, be sure to check out Kirkland Lake’s annual Winter Carnival, a weeklong event featuring all of the staples of winter. Ice fishing derbies, snow mobile drag racing, skating, hockey, the list goes on.
