Tekniken är konstnärens uppfinning: En grassofon som, utifrån Grass komposition och datorstyrning, sänder impulser mätta i millisekunder till små magneter fastsatta på föremålen. De korta av- och påsignalerna får metallen att svänga och skapar därmed ett brett register av toner.
The technique is the artist’s own invention: A grassophone that, according to Grass’s composition and computerization, sends impulses measured in milliseconds to small magnets attached to the objects. The short on-and-off signals make the metal oscillate, creating a wide range of tones.

Aluminiumets inre struktur avspeglar sig som mekaniska ljudvågor. Ljudvågornas hastighet genom materialet skapar molekylära förtätningar och förtunningar som ger olika klang. Tillsammans med platsens egna materiella transmission, söker den totala ljudupplevelsen ge tillbaka platsen det ljud som har tystnat.
The inner structure of the aluminium is reflected as mechanical sound waves. The speed of the sound waves through the material creates molecular compressions and rarefactions that produce different sounds. Combined with the site’s own material transmissions, the total sound experience seeks to give the site back its silenced sounds.
