EVANGELISM

– The spreading of good tidings

– The sharing of good news

– One beggar sharing with another the location of life - giving bread

– The church has been commissioned by God to go to the highways and hedges and compel men (to twist their arms) to come unto Him.

 Luke 14:23

– A casual invitation is not sufficient, God expects us to do all that is necessary to lead/bring sinners into the house of God, that they may develop a relationship with God.

– How far are you willing to go to bring the lost to Jesus?

WORSHIP

– To declare the worth of something

– When we worship God, we declare how much He is worth to us.

– Your act of worship and your relationship to God is inextricably linked.

 John 4:24

– Worship cleanses the contamination of the world from us that we might offer unto God a worthy praise.

– Worship prepares the soil of our soul that we might receive the word of God through both: preaching and teaching.

DISCIPLESHIP

– The educating/instructing of Christians concerning the expressed will of God.

– As we mature in Christ, we understand our need to know what pleases Him.

– God’s command to study is not optional but rather indispensable to a growing church/believer.

 II Timothy 2:15

– Without worship we are not worthy of discipleship, without discipleship we are not worthy to worship.

– Your blessings are not linked to your worship; rather they are handcuffed to your Christian maturity which is developed through discipleship.

– God will only give you as much as He can trust you with.

FELLOWSHIP

Koinonia- The coming together and sharing of like minded believers.

• Acts 2:42

• Partnership

• Mutual Benefactors

• Participation

• Social Intercourse

Fellowship transfers the believers from church members to church family.

Although worship can be corporate, we “enter into His gates” individually.

Fellowship is the Goddesigned time of sharing that makes us one.

Luke 8:19-21

A church that shares together cares together.

SERVICE

The distribution of temporal and spiritual goods and services for the edification of believers and the glorification of God.

The true mission of the church is to bring about heaven on earth.

• Temporally - Acts 4:32-35

• Spiritually - Galatians 6:1

• Naturally - Romans 15:1-2

The church that does not impact the community in which it resides has no right or reason to exist.

THE CIRCLES OF COMMITMENT

The Community

Starting Point. The pool of lost people that have made no commitment to Jesus or our church. The purpose for Evangelism takes place here. It is the largest circle because it contains the most people. These are the unchurched and the occassional attenders.

The Crowd

The Congregation

The people that show up for Sunday services. These are the regular attenders. This group is made up of both believers and nonbelivers. The only thing that have in common is that they are committed to attending a worship service every week.

The Committed

The group of official members of the church. They are more than attenders but are committed to the purpose of fellowship. Only those that have received Jesus Christ as their savior and have taken the membership class are considered part of the congregation (membership).

These are the people that are godly and growing. They are serious about their faith and are dedicated to growing in disciple ship. However, they are not actively serving in a ministry within the church. They are good people but have not yet gotten involved in the ministry. The people in this group commit to three important spiritual habits: daily prayer time and scripture reading, regular attendance to bible study, and tithing ten percent of their income. These three habits are essential for spiritual growth.

The Core

The smallest group in the church because it represents the deepest level of commitment. These are the dedicated minority of workers and leaders. They are committed to ministering to others. Without these people the church would come to a standstill. These people are the heart of the church. When people reach the core, we move them back out to the “Community” in order to minister to them.
