My Two Cents on Backlinks and SEO

Here at Strictly Business, we firmly believe that print is a rich, productive medium for advertising. Magazines have strong pass-along readership and a long shelf life – your business will be recognized by countless at varying points in time. However, with society advancing and technology becoming more and more integrated into our daily lives, we recognize the importance of having a strong online presence. That’s why we utilize everything the internet has to offer to promote your business. With SEO optimization and a strong viewership on websites, businesses can reach so many people nowadays that they couldn’t before. It’s crazy!

When I was first learning about the opportunities available on the internet, I struggled to understand what any of it meant. What’s SEO? What’s a backlink? Why do they matter? I’m not the most tech-savvy person, but as I learned more about SEO and backlinks, I saw a huge opportunity to further promote local businesses.

We backlink everything that gets posted on our website to yours to boost your SEO so you get more views. You might be asking yourself what any of those words mean – I know I was.

SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” In simple terms, SEO is what gets your website to the top of the search results on Google. SEO improves the quality and quantity of website traffic you receive by targeting people that search key words and topics related to content linked to your website. So, even if what is published in our magazine isn’t on your website, if we backlink it to your website, it boosts your SEO, giving your website credibility on Google and in the eyes of those viewing it.

Our key to boosting your SEO is through backlinks. Simply put, ‘backlink’ is a fancy term for the hyperlinks we insert online. Backlinks are links created when one website links to another. We make a point to link everything: your website, any links you include in the copy and your social media accounts if mentioned. The more backlinks your website has, the higher you will rank on Google and other search platforms because it boosts your website credibility.

But, not only do we want as many people as possible to hear about your business, we want them to use the links to learn more about your business as well. We get you in front of potential customers and then go the extra step to help connect you. The whole point in getting in front of more people is to educate the community and boost business. With great SEO and easily accessible backlinks, Strictly Business helps you do just that.

We love it when we hear that readers connected with local businesses as a result of seeing them in Strictly Business. But, we know that more often than not, Google gets all the credit. We’ve all forgotten where we first heard the name of a business we are interested in working with. When we can’t remember where to look for the information we read, our first instinct is to search for it on Google. While we want readers to know that Strictly Business is a hub for everything going on in the community, we understand that Google is a go-to for many. With our backlinks and ability to boost SEO, though, we know that we are still helping local businesses connect with members of our great community.

Convert Your Farmland Into Cash

Shayne Zutavern, a Farm and Ranch Real Estate Agent for SE Nebraska, is prepared to help turn your farm land into cash. Not only is he equipped to handle land sale from start to finish, but to help you become more aware of exactly what to expect.

“It’s an honor to work at BigIron Realty and help families navigate the decision to sell their farm ground and delivering the highest possible price. BigIron Realty has over 499,285 active registered bidders on our Online Auction Platform, and what that means to you is we will deliver bidders/buyer from right next door, to investors from across the state. No other local farm real estate company has that many bidders ready to bid. None. When you use a competitive auction you can expect consistent over-the-top results for your farm sale – results that you cannot get with just listing your farm. Additionally, when you use an auction, you decide the day of your sale and the day you’ll get your money.”

When selling your land, take the extra time to do some research. Don’t get in a hurry to get it sold – the market is always changing, and potential buyers are always looking.

One of the first steps is talking to your banker, financial advisor, lawyer, friends and then ask them, “Who is the best?” Taking their opinions into consideration, also watch

your mailbox for newspapers, flyers and postcards marketing real estate services. You want someone who’s very good at marketing, because that’s a critical skill in getting your farm sold. Once you have a few farm real estate companies in mind, interview them all. Have at least three different agents pitch you their company and services. By having each agent explain the services, their marketing approach and how they will help you, you will be able to determine which real estate company will deliver the best results for you and your family.

Before fully committing, attend an auction event to see how everything unfolds. If you can, talk to the seller for their first-hand experience. It can also be helpful to speak to previous clients of the company you are leaning towards. Taking these extra steps can make a world of difference for your overall selling experience.

On the financial side, don’t use the commission rate as your sole decision-making criteria. Most of the time, you get what you pay for. If you aren’t sure exactly what your land is worth, search online for other farms for sale in your area, watch for land sale ads in your mailbox and look up the recent selling history for land in your area. Most importantly, discuss it with the real estate agent you decide to sell with. They will have the most insight into the market.

Shayne Zutavern is here to help you get the most for your land. He wants you to have a great selling experience and walk away with as much money as possible. Call Shayne today for a Broker’s Price Opinion on your farm – a $1,750 value for FREE. Shayne is 100% invested in your success.

Cornhusker Bank Celebrates 120 Years of Service and Trusted Relationships

Cornhusker Bank is celebrating 120 years of services and trusted relationships. At the close of business on August 24, 1903, Farmers State Bank in Davey, Nebraska, recorded its first day of deposits of $12,000.

Over the next 120 years, trusted relationships were built, partnerships were forged and that small institution grew into what is the locally owned Cornhusker Bank today. To celebrate this century-plus journey, the bank held a weeklong customer appreciation August 19-25.

The week began with a free document shredding day on Saturday, August 19, in the parking lot at the 84th & O St. Bank Center location in Lincoln. Each day there was something special occurring to thank customers at all locations. The bank had refreshments, gifts and some surprises for customers, and wrapped up the week with a free lunch on Friday.

What sets Cornhusker Bank apart is a long-term commitment to attention to the little things in customer relationships. These little things are the big things that matter so much. Chairman John Dittman shared, “From humble beginnings to now being among the 25 largest Nebraska based banks in asset size, we’re blessed with many great relationships from those who place their trust in us.”

Cornhusker Bank remains locally owned, built on trust, integrity and a commitment to the community. For more information visit www. CornhuskerBank.com.

CHANTEL

Chantel Windeshausen CENTRIS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

Meet Chantel Windeshausen, Vice President, Marketing at Centris Federal Credit Union.

Tell us a little about your business. - Centris Federal Credit Union is a local credit union that has been part of the Omaha, Council Bluffs, Grand Island and North Platte communities for nearly 90 years. As someone that is new to the financial industry, one thing that I love about working for a credit union is our industry philosophy: people helping people. We all have goals and dreams for our future and having a financial institution that is focused on providing financial education, products and services that help meet those goals is something I am proud to be a part of every day.

How did you get started in the business? - I fell in love with the art of marketing in high school and have had the great opportunity to pursue this passion for over 24 years. I am new to the financial industry and I find it inspiring to have the opportunity to support and educate our members who are on their own unique financial journey. I also love being part of an organization that is dedicated to the local communities in which we serve.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - My greatest professional challenge was determining it was time to leave my former employer after 21 years to try something new. While it was hard to leave everything I knew and people I adore, having the courage to take a leap of faith gave me the confidence and belief that we all can do hard things.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? My most important achievement professionally was leading a global rebrand relaunch. It was a time of collaboration with like-minded marketers who shared the same vision and passion for seeing months of research, creative decisions and collaboration come to life. I can only hope everyone can work with a team where you can laugh AND cry together, who you can trust beyond measure and who supports you and lifts you up when you might not realize you need it.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - Anything focused on self-care. A massage, pedicure, yoga, meditation, focusing on my faith, reading a book, being within nature, hanging out with my husband and two boys.

Who inspires you? - I am inspired by people that want to create memorable experiences for others. I am inspired by people that will not give up in the face of adversity. I am inspired by those that realize that lending a helping hand or sharing a smile with a stranger could be what changes someone’s life.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - The little things are the big things.

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? - Thoughtful.

What is your favorite TV show? - Ted Lasso.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? - Centris has allowed me to learn about amazing nonprofit organizations in our community. I am looking forward to doing more volunteer work with Together Food Bank and Duet, a service provider for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? - www.linkedin.com/in/chantel-windeshausen-9637835; www. centrisfcu.org.

ELIZABETH

Meet Elizabeth Schuler, an Electrical Engineer at Farris Engineering.

How did you get started in the business? - For as long as I can remember, my favorite subject in school was math. Growing up, I also liked to build houses in The Sims computer game, which initially led me to consider architecture. My dad pointed me in the direction of the Architectural Engineering program at the University of Nebraska, and from there I discovered I liked the electrical engineering portion of the program.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? - Each completed project is its own achievement. If I had to choose my most important achievement, I would say it was obtaining my professional engineering license. That allowed me to fully step into my engineering role and seal drawings.

Tell us a little about your family. - My husband, Chris, is a shop teacher at Blair High School. We have been married for almost nine years, and we have two children. Noah is almost four years old, and Eleanor is 18 months. I have a younger sister and a younger brother, and we attended Fort Calhoun Community Schools. My siblings and parents still live in the Omaha area, so we see each other pretty frequently.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - As cliché as it might sound, graduating college and entering the “real world” was a big transition. I got married five months after graduating, so that year brought with it several pivotal moments.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - If I am with my family, I enjoy doing a fun activity with the kids. It fills me with joy to watch them have fun. If I get some time to myself, I enjoy reading a good book. Regardless, my day is always better when I go for a run and listen to music.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? - I have grapheme-color synesthesia, which means my perception of numbers and some letters is associated with different colors. I took advantage of this unique trait during a History of Architecture class in college, in which I had to memorize dates for many buildings of architectural significance.

Who inspires you? - I’m inspired by Taylor Swift. She is a very gifted and hard-working songwriter who has worked to develop her craft. She persevered after initially being rejected by the music industry. Now, she is one of the best-selling musicians and has numerous accolades. She is paving the way for newer artists and working to make the changes that are important to her. It is inspiring to see her accomplish so much, especially since we are so close in age and both females navigating male-dominated professions.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? - “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.” - John Wooden.

If you could have a super power, what would it be? - I think my answer to this would change depending on my phase of life, but right now I would choose to teleport. We recently did an eleven-hour drive with our two kids, and I would have loved the ability to snap my fingers and appear in Ohio.

If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? bschuler@farris-usa.com.

How did you get started in the business? - My passion for helping people has been a calling since I was a little girl. ERYNN

Erynn Watermeier

CREATIVE HAIR DESIGN SALON AND SPA

Meet Erynn Watermeier, Spa Manager at Creative Hair Design Salon and Spa.

Tell us a little about your business. - We are a 16,000-square-foot salon and spa. We have 80 employees, 55 hairstylists, seven massage therapists, 10 estheticians, five nail techs and quite a few receptionists to help make everything run smoothly. We typically see anywhere from 100-250 people a day, so managing this place along with my manager Lisa Jensen makes for never having a dull moment. John, the owner, is the best boss anyone could ask for. His motto is happy employees equals happy clients. He is always making sure we feel like we are family here, and trust me, we definitely take care of each other as well as the clients like they are our family.

How did you get started in the business? - I answered an ad in the newspaper for a job at Creative Hair Design when I was 20, not knowing that it would end up leading to my career. I left for a few years to see what else was out there but ended up coming back because this place felt like home.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? - I tend to have a hard time believing in myself. I strive to do my job to the best of my ability knowing what expectations John and Lisa have for the number one salon and spa in Omaha.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? - When John asked me to manage his spa, knowing that I would be stepping into a completely different role than I had previously known. It has been the best thing I’ve done this far. The girls and clients I get to work with make it worth coming into work every day.

Tell us a little about your family. - My family and I are very close and would go out of our way to help each other. My sister recently had a baby, and since it’s the first baby of the family, I am having the time of my life being a first-time aunty. To say I spoil the little guy would be an understatement.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? - I went through a time in my life where my physical and mental health weren’t good. During that time, I realized how many truly great people I have in my life supporting me. Knowing these people are there for me no matter what I’m going through is truly the greatest blessing.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? - It’s always been shopping, but these days I try to spend as much time as I can with my nephew. He is growing up too fast and I don’t want to miss a second of it.

Who inspires you? - It was my grandma Rosie. Growing up I always thought that she was magical but after she passed away I realized she was just a saint. She cared about everyone. Even when she didn’t have a lot to give, she was always willing to help. I can see that it has also inspired my father to do the same and hopefully someday I can say I lived to be half the woman she was.

Help Create a World without T1D at the 2023 JDRF One Walk October 1

Walk with over 5,000 people to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D) at this year’s JDRF One Walk on Sunday, October 1, at Mahoney State Park starting at 11:30 a.m. The One Walk aims to raise awareness for T1D and to fundraise to accelerate T1D research breakthroughs to cure, treat and prevent T1D and its complications.

T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. If you have T1D, your pancreas stops producing insulin – a hormone essential to turning food into energy. This means you must constantly monitor your bloodsugar level, inject or infuse insulin from a pump and carefully monitor your eating and activity every single day.

By joining the JDRF One Walk, you’ll be part of the lasting footprint we’ll make for the T1D community now, and for generations to come. Register for the One Walk today at walk.jdrf.org/omaha! JDRF gratefully acknowledges 2023 JDRF One Walk Chair, Brian Schenk and Presenting Sponsor, Dormie Network.

Questions about this event including sponsorship opportunities can be directed to Luci Foster, Development Manager, at (402) 651-6507 / lfoster@jdrf.org.

JDRF has a mission to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat T1D and its complications. They do this by funding innovative research, advocating for government action and providing a support structure for our community. For more information, please visit jdrf.org/nebraskaiowa.

Heartland Cancer Foundation Accepting Legacy and Recurring Giving

The Heartland Cancer Foundation believes no cancer patient should fall behind on treatment because they struggle to afford their everyday expenses. This mission is one that is near and dear to many hearts and there are three great avenues philanthropists can consider to support local cancer patients, including legacy giving, recurring giving or by setting up a donor advised fund.

With legacy giving, individuals have the incredible opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the lives of those battling cancer by including the foundation in their estate planning. These legacy gifts ensure that future generations of cancer patients will receive the much-needed aid and care they deserve.

Recurring giving also plays a pivotal role, as it creates a steady and dependable source of funding for the foundation’s ongoing efforts, such as planning and executing long-term programs and events, awareness and outreach and offering extended aid to patients during their entire treatment journey.

Finally, setting up a donor-advised fund presents a strategic way to show support and offers numerous advantages. It simplifies the giving process. By consolidating multiple charitable donations into a single fund, donors can take an immediate tax deduction, and it offers flexibility in timing charitable donations as donors can contribute to the fund when it suits their financial situation best. If interested, the Lincoln Community Foundation is a great place to set up a fund. Learn more about how you can support the Heartland Cancer Foundation at heartlandcancerfoundation.org.

Nebraska Folklife Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Nebraska Folklife is excited to celebrate their 20th anniversary. In celebration, they will be cohosting Lincoln’s yearly Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event on Sunday, November 5, at Lincoln’s Auld Pavilion in Antelope Park. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. and commence until 5 p.m.

Dia de Los Muertos is a special day for remembering friends and loved ones who have passed away. It’s also a celebration of the lives that they lived. This holiday has been celebrated in parts of Mexico and other Latin American countries for hundreds of years. It is a joyous, loving event – not a solemn one. Though smiling skeletons and skulls are sometimes included in Day of the Dead decorations, the holiday has no connections with Halloween and is not anti-religious. Organized by 10 local community groups, including El Centro de Las Americas and the Lincoln Commission for Human Rights, and sponsored by Lincoln businesses such as Bryan Health and ALLO, this free, family friendly event features performances by Latin American musicians and costumed dancers, craft making for all ages, ethnic food, exhibits, craft vendors and more. A fun run on the trails in and around Antelope Park is a brand new addition planned for this year’s event.

Nebraska Folklife’s mission is to amplify the presence of folk and traditional artists throughout the state, providing them with greater exposure and recognition. For more information and to get involved, please visit nebraskafolklife.org.

Nebraska Community Foundation Shares Greater Nebraska Youth Survey Results

After four years and more than 3,700 students surveyed, Nebraska Community Foundation’s Greater Nebraska Youth Survey affirms young Nebraskans’ desires to include the state in their future and a preference for smaller communities.

This year, Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF) and the Center for Public Affairs Research (CPAR) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha surveyed 980 middle and high school students in 11 communities. Their key findings included students preferring small towns, wanting to remain in Nebraska and having a strong desire for safety.

Despite high levels of engagement in local organizations and businesses, most students (76%) said they do not feel like they play a role in their community. Adults in Greater Nebraska can help these youth feel more involved by inviting them to take part in local organizations, offering them a seat at the table.

Students cited job opportunities elsewhere as the main reason they would not live in their community as an adult. They understand the availability of health care and agriculture jobs in their towns, but do not perceive possible opportunities in other fields, such as the arts, recreation, tourism, business management, information technology and media, among other careers in which they expressed interest.

Read the full article and access the results at NebraskaHometown.org.

Nebraska Community Foundation unleashes abundant local assets, inspires charitable giving and connects ambitious people to build stronger communities and a Greater Nebraska.

outdoor living

As the vibrant colors of summer begin to fade, Omaha prepares to unveil its enchanting autumn landscape. With the air turning crisp and the foliage transforming into a breathtaking palette of reds, yellows and oranges, the city becomes a true testament to the wonders of the season. For homeowners and outdoor enthusiasts, fall is the perfect time to create an inviting retreat to cherish during the cooler months.

With the local professionals of Omaha by your side, you will be able to enjoy all the best things fall landscaping and outdoor living has to offer. They will transform your house and backyard area into something out of this world.

Building Your Dream Pool

One of the most sought after yard features is an in-ground pool. The right pool can really make a yard come to life, and Strawberry Springs Pool and Spa loves how the creative process unfolds, resulting in a beautiful outcome.

Currently, Strawberry Springs is seeing a trend for fantastic sitting areas and sun shelves in the water. These features are designed to maximize hangout time with friends and quality family time while in the pool.

“Our team has a lot of experience,” shared Ron Tucker. “We are your trusted partner in making your pool and spa environment both appealing and functional.”

Though pools are seasonal, Strawberry Springs stays busy year round. They use the down time in the winter to train employees and perform necessary maintenance on their equipment so that they are ready to build your dream pool as soon as the weather permits.

To make a client’s vision come to life, Strawberry Springs thoroughly discusses the end goal with the client. They provide extensive photos of past jobs and what can be done in the space to spark inspiration and help guide the project. Once the dream pool is decided upon, Strawberry Springs wastes no time building it.

Illuminating Your Landscape

With the cooler weather fall brings the desire to spend additional time outdoors. Fall evenings are the perfect time to sit outside and enjoy your backyard – and the beautiful landscaping. But, to truly be able to enjoy all the hard work you put into making your landscape vision come to life, you need light to illuminate it.

Permanent lighting has become a landscaping trend, as it requires minimal maintenance. Streamline Energy Solutions , your local lighting installer, makes sure your lighting is perfect for every occasion. Whether wanting to illuminate everything to just have accents, Streamline Energy Solutions can install permanent lighting that gives you complete control over which lights are on for any given period of time. With an app that connects to your lighting via Bluetooth or WiFi, you can control each individual light bulb separately. This allows you to choose which bulbs will be on as well as what colors they will be. You can also download templates or create your own to give your landscape a unique display for game days, parties or holidays.

Because Streamline Energy Solutions uses high-efficiency LED bulbs, they’ve found that the majority of customers who have permanent lighting don’t see an uptake in their electrical bill. The only big cost is the initial investment – something well worth it considering the onetime install lasts 20+ years.

“We’re offering a service that creates memories,” shared Jen Keller. “Permanent lighting is so much fun and always gets awesome reactions from people at night. It really does help showcase your home and illuminate your landscape.”

It is never too early to prepare your outdoor living space for the winter months. When redesigning your landscape and making upgrades to the exterior of your house, it is important to consider how it will function in fall, winter, spring and summer. Each detail matters, and no detail is too small.

Omaha continues to amaze us as landscaping projects transform the city into something truly amazing. Improvements both small and large have enhanced the curb appeal and beauty of both residential and commercial areas. With so many reputable and excellent lawn, landscape and outdoor-area experts available in Omaha, it is no surprise that our city looks as great as it does.

Bulding OMAHA

The architecture of Omaha reflects its rich history and diverse influences over the years. The city's architectural landscape encompasses a mixture of historic buildings, modern structure and various architectural styles.

In addition to preserving its historic structures, Omaha has embraced modern architecture in its commercial and residential developments. The city features sleek office towers, contemporary residential complexes and innovative cultural buildings.

Omaha's architecture reflects its growth history and evolving identity as a major city in the heart of the United States. The city's blend of old and new, historic and contemporary contributes to its architectural charm and appeal to both residents and visitors. As such, the people who have shaped, and continue to shape, this vibrant community deserve to be recognized. So, what has everyone been up to?

Huffman Engineering, Inc.

Huffman Engineering, Inc. is currently working with a global pharmaceutical company on a greenfield site to provide controls for single-use bioreactors and single-use mixers as well as site-wide system integration. This is the highly-technical equipment necessary in the production of vaccines for livestock and animal health. Since Omaha is at the northern edge of the animal health corridor that runs through the Midwest, they only see the market for animal health and food production growing in the future.

Huffman Engineering has also been working with The City of Omaha for several years on their CSO project to purify the city’s wastewater. They have worked with MUD on two initiatives: to help heat Omaha using natural gas and allowing the residents of Omaha to be secure knowing their drinking water is clean and safe, ensuring the infrastructure is put in place to keep it that way for decades to come.

40 Strictly Business SEPTEMBER 2023 #PrintProudDigitalSmart

Because their expertise is in the automation of highly-regulated industries, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, water/wastewater, electrical utilities, food and beverage and natural gas, Huffman Engineering believes they can help ease the burden of workforce shortages, cybersecurity concerns, everchanging compliance regulations and improved efficiency and performance while upgrading legacy systems with new automation.

“Companies looking to the future with a shrinking workforce and higher expectations from international markets will have to employ automation and digital strategies to keep up with the pace of technology and competing markets,” shared Industrials Manager Toby Varner. “This is an exciting time to shape the future of manufacturing and public utilities.” The systems that operate the basics of our society are dependent on automation for the future health of our state and country, and this digital transformation will require the highly technical expertise of system integrators to ensure that production of our most fundamental systems continues to operate in a manner that supports the communities we live and work in.

Nikki Klugh Design Group, Inc.

With Omaha growing daily, Nikki Klugh Design Group has noticed that following design trends isn't at the front of most people’s minds. Rather, the trend of starting a new chapter and the need of their

home or office to reflect that change. Those at Nikki Klugh Design Group have learned that you never know what is on the horizon, and big life changes often come with their own unique design needs.

Currently, Nikki Klugh Design Group is working with an organization called Move-In Day Mafia, which strives to give college students a different first day feeling. The “MAFIA” is an army of volunteers who show up to campuses of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to provide these underserved yet deserving freshmen with a dorm room makeover experience and other support to make sure their dreams of graduation won’t shatter. Nikki Klugh and her team have created dorm room designs for the participating students to start the year on a high note and are currently working on making those design concepts a reality.

"I truly believe we all need and deserve a place of respite when we’re swamped with the ugliness of the world… a beautiful and restorative sanctuary... a Sacred Space," stated Nikki Klugh, Founder & Principal Designer of Nikki Klugh Design Group, Inc.

Moving forward, Nikki Klugh Design Group will continue to bring diversity of thought and help Omaha to continue its forward thinking path by incorporating a global perspective to design. Expansion is happening all around the city, and that doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon.

Pitzl Contracting, LLC

Because construction markets vary in regards to the number of projects available, Pitzl Contracting, LLC bids on a mixture of residential and commercial projects. As one market speeds up, the other tends to slow down. By working in both markets, Pitzl Contracting is able to stay busy and continuously help Omaha grow and imrpove.

Recently, Pitzl Contracting has noticed a big trend towards in-ground pools in residential areas. Everyone wants a private pool in their backyard to swim and cool off from the summer heat. They have also completed projects for outdoor malls in the area, including Shadow Lake Mall.

Currently, Pitzl Contracting is working on completely remodeling an apartment complex to better accommodate the needs of Omaha residents. They are making repairs and upgrading the complex to meet a higher standard of living. In other projects, they are noticing an increase in spaces requiring remodeling and repurposing as people make do with the space they have.

Omaha has been rapidly growing since before Pitzl Contracting started business, and won’t slow anytime soon. With Pitzl Contracting now contributing to the growth of Omaha, it will continue to get bigger and absorb surrounding towns. They will continue to build southward, while also expanding to the west with more lake houses.

Omaha has experienced significant growth over the years, and will continue to experience steady growth. Whether in the form of new construction or repurposed construction, the opportunities in Omaha continue to make it a vibrant city. This growth has brought many opportunities to the community, and will continue to benefit the community in the coming years.

New construction, though slowing, offers the opportunity to create something fresh and tailored to a desired purpose. From the initial planning and design stages to the final construction and finishing touches, it’s a journey that brings ideas to life.

Repurposed construction, increasing in popularity, involves taking existing structures or materials and transforming them for new uses. It’s a sustainable and creative approach that reduces waste and gives new life to old buildings and materials. Repurposing buildings is a great way to add character and uniqueness to a project that will solve a problem, while also being environmentally conscious.

The skilled professionals of Omaha have been working hard to make our city amazing, and they are doing a great job of bettering our community. Let’s give all the local Omaha businesses that make this possible a big pat on the back - they deserve it!

Senior LIVING

Retirement is like a brand new chapter in life. Just as a book has different chapters, each representing a unique part of the story, retirement marks a turning point - a fresh beginning where seniors have the chance to take it easy after years of work and explore their passions.

Just like the transition from one chapter to another in a book, retirement can bring mixed emotions. On one hand, it may bring excitement and anticipation for the freedom and leisure that lie ahead. On the other hand, it can bring a sense of uncertainty or even a bit of apprehension about what lies beyond their familiar work routines.

However, as seniors turn the page to retirement, they find themselves opening up to a world of possibilities. The constraints of a regular work schedule disappear, and they gain the freedom to explore new interests, hobbies and activities that might have been put on hold during their busy working years. Whether it's pursuing a long-lost passion, traveling to new destinations, spending more time with loved ones or simply taking time to relax and enjoy life, retirement offers a chance to live life on one's own terms.

Though life at an older age is a jumble of emotions, the professionals in Omaha are ready to help make life the best it can be. With them by your side, you don’t need to worry about what the future holds.

have peace of mind knowing their loved one is being cared for by professionals.

The Expenses of Long-Term Care

Before entering the process of caring for senior citizens, knowing what type of insurance they have is crucial. Many family members seeking assistance for loved ones don’t know if they have traditional Medicare or a managed Medicare plan, and are often surprised at how big the difference between the two is. At Brookestone Meadows , they know how important it is to know those differences and to know if the senior has supplemental insurance and a long-term care insurance policy to help with expenses.

Extra Care for Your Loved Ones

When caring for senior citizens, it’s important to understand their unique needs and preferences. At Xtrakare, they understand how difficult it can be to choose the best care provider for your loved one’s unique situation. That’s why they ask questions, answer questions and above all, prioritize the safety and comfort of their clients.

Owner Johan Dovlo ensures that all seniors and their families feel at ease and have a friendly connection with their assigned caregiver. From the start, they care for seniors with respect, comfort and attention to their well-being. According to Dovlo, “Every senior has a unique story, and at Xtrakare, we’re privileged to be a part of it.”

At Xtrakare, they begin with a detailed and caring chat with their new senior citizens to understand their special needs and likes. They ask questions pertaining to their medical history as well as to things that could make their life better such as their favorite activities/ hobbies, if they would prefer a male or female caregiver and if they have any religious practices that should be respected. Along with the questions they ask, they thoroughly answer any questions their clients have.

When working with Xtrakare, safety is a priority. As such, their services are flexible and personalized to meet the changing needs of seniors. Xtrakare goes above and beyond to ensure family members

“When planning for a significant life change and looking into the expenses related to senior care, we always encourage that you speak with a financial advisor. A financial advisor is going to be able to analyze your costs, income and medical insurance plans. They will be able to create savings goals for your future care needs,” shared Admissions Coordinator Mindy Matheny.

Though long-term care can be expensive, Brookestone Meadows does everything they can to ensure that the quality of care is well worth the value. Providing 24-hour care for seniors, Brookestone Meadows provides laundry, housekeeping services and meals and snacks. They also provide nursing care, medication management and assistance with a variety of daily activities. One of the biggest benefits for seniors at Brookestone Meadows is the activity and socialization available.

Brookestone Meadows welcomes all new residents by treating them to a few welcome goodies, including a tote bag, calendar, notebook and pen, along with a handwritten welcome card. A member of their admission team greets the new resident upon arrival and reviews all admission documents with them and allows time for any questions that may arise.

Exceptional Memory Care

No two people need the exact same treatment, and senior living cannot be a one-size fits all for people of similar care needs. For those in need of memory care and assisted living, it is highly important that each individual receives customized care that meets each resident’s

physical, emotional and spiritual needs. At Prairie Meadows Alzheimer’s Care Center, they know the importance of specialized care, and start every interaction with a tailored approach.

Before residents move into Prairie Meadows Alzheimer’s Care Center, they must complete customized assessments so an individual care plan can be created. Whether your loved one requires some help with the activities of daily living (ADLs) or is living with the effects of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease, their dedicated staff takes great pride in delivering high-quality care that is compassionate, safe and resident-centered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Prairie Meadows Alzheimer’s Care Center takes the extra time to continually ask questions that will better their residents’ quality of life. Using tailor-fit assessment tools to evaluate each resident’s capabilities and strengths, their programs are designed to best meet each resident’s specific needs.

With a large percentage of the assisted living population living with dementia, it’s important to have communities like Prairie Meadows Alzheimer’s Care Center available. Finding specialized care for those living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia-related illness is an incredibly intricate and personal process that requires great attention to detail and excellent communication.

Plan Ahead and Do Your Research

For many, anything related to the health industry can seem confusing and complicated. As we age, the need to understand healthcare costs and insurance coverage increases, but it can be difficult to understand all the facets involved with being a senior. That’s why Mary the Medicare Lady goes above and beyond to educate and help senior citizens.

“I love helping people of all ages find ways to save money on their prescriptions – they don’t even have to be a client of mine,” stated Mary Hiatt, Retirement and Insurance Advisor. “I’m a member of a Pharmacist-led organization whose sole purpose is to help agents design a strategy of sourcing more affordable options.”

Mary educates her clients to help them make decisions. “I want my clients to choose options based on what is best for their unique situation, not based on what a friend or a family member has chosen. I’ve even had husbands and wives in the same household sign up for different plans because that’s what made the most sense financially.” Mary’s clients become her friends and they know they can text, call or email her anytime. Periodically, Mary also sends emails and physical mail reminding clients to use their plan benefits and advise them of upcoming changes. Annually, she schedules meetings to review prescriptions and doctors, as laws and insurance plans change every year.

Being a senior citizen, or caring for one, means needing to be informed about the ever changing aspects of healthcare. Finding information you can trust can be challenging, but there are resources like Mary the Medicare Lady available to help you with every step.

Though retirement doesn’t automatically mean you will need senior living, being in good health doesn’t mean that you can’t take advantage of what senior living has to offer. Many members of the community recommend senior living before it’s necessary because it offers countless opportunities to live life to the fullest. We encourage you to take advantage of everything that is available to you!

From assisted living communities to home care to health and wellness, senior living can help you unwind, explore new interests and cherish special moments with family and friends without having to worry about what will happen in the future. The professionals of Omaha are here to help you break away from the hustle and bustle of work life to enjoy the freedom and joy of retirement.

Joining organizations

September 2023

Twice a year, in March and September, Strictly Business puts together a Joining Organizations feature. We want to make sure that these organizations have a chance to get their name out there and share their current efforts, membership benefits, partnership opportunities and anything else the community should be aware of.

Community organizations contribute to the fabric of our economy by bringing industry leaders together, offering education and resources to their members and partnering with other local entities to implement positive change in our area. There are so many dedicated, passionate groups of like-minded individuals who are all committed to making a difference in their professional, cultural and social communities. Joining these groups often results in forming new relationships that, in turn, lead to personal and professional growth and success.

Here at Strictly Business, we stand behind the hard-working organizations that continuously better Lincoln and its occupants. We do this by offering discounted rates to these organizations so they can highlight their upcoming events and meetings, accomplishments, awards, members, staff and opportunities for involvement. In Omaha, you will find organizations and associations representing nearly every profession or industry – many of which have national, regional, state and/or local chapters who would love to have you as a member.

With countless reputable and talented professionals in Omaha, it can be difficult to stand out. One of the best ways to stand out and become a household name in the community is to get involved in every way you can. By finding an organization or association that matches your interest, passions and goals, your commitment to excellence in the Omaha community will shine through and differentiate you from other local businesses.
