THE RUNAWAY PANCAKE was our book of the week with it being Shrove Tuesday on the 21st of February.
The Acorns have had a marvellous time playing with 'dough' coloured play dough. The children have rolled, squashed, and moulded all sorts of delicious looking pancakes. We have talked about the ingredients we need to make our own pancakes as well as squeezing copious amounts of lemons and oranges in the water tray to make juice for the pancakes.

The Acorns have had turns to flip and toss pancakes in real frying pans! They were doing so well that we decided to have our very own Acorns Pancake Race, en-route to Forest school. We have some strong contenders for next year's race!

The Runaway Pancake tells the story about the pig who was successful in gobbling up the pancake, well, we made some pancakes too and the children gobbled them faster than the pig could have done. They loved them! We had squeezed lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar-the real classic!
The sunshine has brightened up our week and we have loved being outdoors on the bikes and the climbing apparatus. A great week full of play!
