Mother Son Breakfast

CASSIE TWEMLOW | Publications Officer
On Tuesday 20 July, we welcomed over 220 mothers and their sons to Cafe 45 for the Mother Son Breakfast.
This year's guest speaker was Paralympic Rugby player, Chris Bond, who regaled us with his sporting experiences and the story of how he lost his legs and fingers. Before Chris was an international wheelchair rugby star, he was a 19-year-old battling acute promyelocytic leukaemia. He survived, but lost his left hand, right fingers and legs below the knees to a bacterial infection.
Now, Chris is a successful wheelchair rugby player - most recently playing at the Tokyo Paralympics -public speaker and, husband and father.
Thank you to all who attended the breakfast. We look forward to seeing you again next year.
