TheBrotherRaymondBulliard,FSC,ValedictoryAwardsarepresentedtotheseniorswith themostoutstandingacademicrecords. Inhisforty-sixyearsofservicetoSaintPaul’s,and thirty-sixyearsasprincipalandpresident,BrotherRaypassionatelybuttressedour curriculumandinspiredourstudentstoacademicpreeminence.The2024recipientsofthe TheBrotherRaymondBulliard,FSC,ValedictoryAwardsareWilliamColes,JosephMire, andPrestonOlivier.

WilliamColes,sonofRobertandJennyColesofMandeville,willattend LouisianaStateUniversitytopursueadegreeinmechanicalengineering. In additiontobeinganhonorgraduate,ColesisaNationalMeritFinalist.He earnedtheSuperiorAcademicsorAchievementAwardallfiveyearshe attendedSaintPaul’sSchool. ColesvolunteeredmanyhourswiththeKey ClubandofferedtutoringasamemberofbothWolvesforTutoringandthe NationalHonorSociety. HewasamemberofMuAlphaTheta,aLouisiana BoysStateofficer,andheservedtheschoolasanExtraordinaryMinisterof HolyCommunion.Colesparticipatedinlocalcommunityserviceasa

volunteerwiththeSpecialOlympicsandtheNorthshoreMiracleLeague.Additionally,hewasa three-yearvarsityathletewiththeWolveswrestlingteam.

JosephMire,sonofMichaelandSusanMireofCovington,isanhonor graduateandaNationalMeritFinalist.HeearnedSuperiorAcademicor SuperiorAchievementAwardseachofhisfouryearsatSaintPaul’s. Hewas amemberoftheNationalHonorSociety andservedaspresidentofMu AlphaTheta.Additionally,Mirewasastudentcouncilrepresentative,a three-yearmemberoftheMarchingWolves,andaHabitatforHumanity Clubmember.HewasalsoelectedsenatepresidentofLouisianaBoysState. MirevolunteeredwiththeNationalLeagueofJuniorCotillionandwasan altarserverinhischurchparish. Hewillstudycomputerengineeringatthe UniversityofAlabama.

OliviervolunteeredwiththeSpecialOlympicsandservedasaCatholicGroupLeaderinhischurch parish. OliviertraveledtoIcelandaspartofaclassonenergy,food,andwatertostudythe country’suseofgeothermalenergyforpower. HewillattendMississippiStateUniversity.

ShawnCooneyisthesonofDaleandRaneyCooneyofMandeville. In additiontobeinganhonorgraduate,heearnedmanyacademicaccolades duringhishighschoolcareer.Additionally,heservedasDrumMajorofthe MarchingWolves,andhewasalsoamemberoftheNationalHonorSociety, MuAlphaTheta,WolvesforLife,andEditor-in-ChiefofThePaperWolf, earningnumerousrecognitionsforhiswritingprowess.Heservedthe schoolasaCOREPackMentor,aStudentAmbassador,andfoundedthe WolvesforMentalHealthClub.Inthelocalcommunity,hevolunteeredat St.TammanyHospitalandwithhischurchparish.HewillattendLouisiana StateUniversitytostudynutritionandfoodscience.

SaintPaul’sSchoolhonoredtheClassof2024,the113thgraduatingclass,withthetraditional commencementceremonyonSaturday,May18th,2024at4:00pmintheBriggsAssemblyCenteron SaintPaul’scampus. Onehundredfifty-sixstudentsreceiveddiplomasfromMr.JoeDickens,Principal ofSaintPaul’sSchool,atthegraduationmasscelebratedbytheschoolchaplain,FatherMatthewClark, OSB. Mr.LeePierre,AssistantPrincipal,servedasMasterofCeremonies,whileSeniorCounselorMrs. RenéeMillerandCurriculumCoordinatorMr.MattPineroassistedwithawardsanddiploma presentations.BrotherKenBoesch,FSC,servedasthemusicianforthegraduationceremony.Kaiden Klebba,BrockDuncan,andJosephDiGiovanniIII,allhonorgraduates,servedasreadersforthemass. EliasAncar,NickKelsey,PeytonKilgore,andJoshuaPichon,allsonsofmembersoftheSaintPaul’s facultyandstaff,ledtheintercessions.

Sevenseniorswere recognizedbytheNationalMeritScholarshipProgram:DominicMuguiraandJamesScheuermannwere recognizedasNationalMeritHispanicScholars;AlexanderBradford,DominicMuguiraandJakeTheriot werenamedCommendedScholars;WilliamColes,JosephMire,andPrestonOlivierwererecognizedas NationalMeritScholarshipFinalists.Forty-threeseniorswerenamedtoAll-StateAcademicsportsteams bythestateofLouisiana.

PorterBoudreauxandDane Delaune,currentSaintPaul’s studentsandnephewsofthelate DarenBoudreaux,agraduateofthe Classof1987,presentedJacob ReverewiththeDarenBoudreaux Scholarship.

Special“Habitat Hammers”werepresented tothefollowingseniors whohavedemonstrated diligenceanddedication totheSaintPaul’sHabitat Club: NicholasLowe, JoshuaPichon,and ChristopherRoberts.

BrotherCharlesCrouzetwasafoundingChristianBrotheratSaintPaul’sSchoolin1918. Hewasaconsummateeducator: gentle,kind,totallycommittedtohisstudents, innovativeinapproachandmethodology,deeplyspiritualandveryhumble. Hewasnot onetodrawattentiontohimself,butquietlywentabouthiswork,alwaysstrivingto improvethings,alwaysworkingforthegoodofhisstudents,alwaysreliableand professional.TheBrotherCharlesCrouzetAwardisequivalenttoteacheroftheyear.

Duringthe2024AcademicAwardsceremony,SaintPaul’sPrincipal,Mr.JoeDickens,presented theBrotherCharlesCrouzet,FSCAwardtoMrs.LizBrett,offeringthefollowingreflection:

“Sheisahighenergypedagoguewhomanifestszealforher professionconsistently.Shecametousovertwentyyearsago asaparentandalmosttwentyyearsagoasaninstructor. Herimpactintheclassroomwasimmediatelyevident.She adjustedseamlesslytohighschoolandcreatedaforeign languagecoursethatstudentshavethoroughlyenjoyedfor almosttwodecades.

Hercreativityandthoughtfullessonplanningengageher students,andtheatmosphereinherroomiswelcoming,fun, organized,andloud.

Shealsoholdsherstudentstohighstandardsandhabituallygetstheirbest. Sheisagreatleaderwhohasbeenoneofourmosteffectivedepartmentchairsforyears.Shehas takeninnumerableteachersunderherwingstohelpthemgetacclimatedtoourLasalliancharismand all-maleenvironment.Shehasalsoneverhesitatedtohelpacolleagueandhasalwaysoperatedwith selflessness.

Ihavealwaysappreciatedtheinterestthatshehastakenineachofherstudents,andundoubtedly, that’swhytheyhaverespondedpositivelytoher.I,too,appreciatethatsheunderstandsteenageboys sowell;sheveryeffectivelyconnectswithherstudentswhilemanagingthem. IcanattestthatthereisnotanemployeeatSaintPaul’swhoismoreconsistent.Shehasbeensuchan effectiveteacheranddepartmentchair,andIameternallygratefulforherdependabilityand professionalism.Heck,sheisevenmymostimpactfullunchdutyproctor.

Beyondherpedagogicalprowess,sheis,inaword,simplyoneofthebestpeoplethatIknow.Sheis anamazingmom,spouse,colleague,andfriend.Iamblessedtohaveknownhersociallyforyears becauseshe’sincrediblyfunandcanworkshoppeopleonhowtosocialize,andshehasanintrinsic abilitytobrightenanyroomthatsheenters.Sheisretiring,andIwillmissherbigsmile,colorful wardrobe,warmpersonality,andloudvoice.”

SaintPaul’sSchooladministration,faculty,andfamiliesofpre-freshmengatheredintheBriggs AssemblyCentertocongratulatethestudentsoftheClassof2028whocompletedtheirfirstyearof requiredcoursework.Mr.JoeDickens,PrincipalofSaintPaul’sSchool,servedasMasterofCeremonies fortheeveningwhileBrotherKenBoesch,FSC,providedthemusic.CurriculumCoordinator,Mr.Matt Pinero,announcedthenamesofthepre-freshmenandtheacademicawardwinners,andAssistant PrincipalMr.LeePierreandPre-FreshmenCounselorMrs.GinaHall,AFSC,assistedwiththediploma andawardsdistribution.

TheprogrambeganwiththetraditionalSaintPaul’sopeninghymn,“RiseUp,OMenofGod.” The firstreadingwasdonebyGriffinBrownell,BraydenFord,CharlesDorhauer,andConnorFrederick.The secondreadingwasreadby NoahRea,CharlesRichard,PayneWeileman,andJacobZeringue.Saint Paul’ssciencedepartmentchair,RandyFordandhiswifeNicole,parentsofpre-freshmanBraydenFord, readtheGospel. Pre-Freshmenreligionteacher,BrotherKenBoesch,FSC,offeredremarksfollowingthe Gospel.

AthleticAwards

SaintPaul’sSchool’sadministration,faculty,coachingstaff,andstudentbodyhonoredthecoachesandathletesfor theiroutstandingcontributionsinaspecialceremonyheldintheGeneBennettSportsComplexonFriday,May 10th.

AthleticDirectorSamFrancisbeganthemajorathleticawardsprogramwitharecapofthe2023-24sportsseasons statingthatSaintPaul’shadover650studentsparticipateinatleastonesport.Theteamscombinedtoearn6 districttitles,4regionalchampionships,oneparishtitle,andonestaterunner-uptitle.Thirty-sevenindividual athleteswerenamedtotheall-districtteamsincluding5mostvaluableplayers,and27All-Parish,All-Region,or All-Metroathletes.Threestudentsindividuallyearnedthetitleofstatechampion.Twoseniorswerenamedto theirrespectiveAcademicAll-StateCompositeteamswithaperfect4.0GPA,51seniorsearnedaGPAof3.5or higherandwerenamedtoAll-Academicteamsintheirrespectivesports,severalinmorethanonesport.In additiontothestudentsgarneringhonors,SaintPaul’scoachingstaffearned4CoachesoftheYeartitles,andone AllParishCoachoftheYear.

Themajorathleticawardswerepresentedbymembersofthecoachingstaff. Theoutstandingathleteaward combinesalltheLasallianvalues,leadership,dedication,academicachievement,andstrengthofcharacterwiththe abilitytoperformmasterfullyonthefield,orcourt.Underclassmenawarded“TheOutstandingAthleteAward” included:AndrewShofstahl,BradyPierson,ScottCascio,CodyCorales,andJacksonPeak.

Severalmembersoftheclassof2024werehonoredwiththetraditionalathleticawards.JacobKhashouandBrock DuncaneachearnedtheC.L.MarcotteAwardforbeingthebestscholar-athleteintheClassof2024.

TheEddiePolkMemorialAwardrecognizesthededication,sportsmanship,andcommitmenttotheidealsofa LasallianathleteandwaspresentedtoCooperWinchesterandConnerDobie.

MichaelSarver,ConlanEnk,andBenBuissonearnedtheJimmyDunnMemorialAwardforthebestall-around athletes.

The2024JasonWhittleMemorialAwardhonoree,ChristianRussell,continuallydemonstratedenthusiasm,team spirit,selflessness,andsacrificeforthebettermentoftheteamandhisteammates.
