The Brother Raymond Bulliard, FSC, Valedictory Awards The Brother Raymond Bulliard, FSC, Valedictory Awards are presented to the seniors with the most outstanding academic records. In his forty-six years of service to Saint Paul’s, and thirty-six years as principal and president, Brother Ray passionately buttressed our curriculum and inspired our students to academic preeminence. The 2024 recipients of the The Brother Raymond Bulliard, FSC, Valedictory Awards are William Coles, Joseph Mire, and Preston Olivier.

William Coles, son of Robert and Jenny Coles of Mandeville, will attend Louisiana State University to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. In addition to being an honor graduate, Coles is a National Merit Finalist. He earned the Superior Academics or Achievement Award all five years he attended Saint Paul’s School. Coles volunteered many hours with the Key Club and offered tutoring as a member of both Wolves for Tutoring and the National Honor Society. He was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, a Louisiana Boys State officer, and he served the school as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Coles participated in local community service as a volunteer with the Special Olympics and the Northshore Miracle League. Additionally, he was a three-year varsity athlete with the Wolves wrestling team.

Joseph Mire, son of Michael and Susan Mire of Covington, is an honor graduate and a National Merit Finalist. He earned Superior Academic or Superior Achievement Awards each of his four years at Saint Paul’s. He was a member of the National Honor Society and served as president of Mu Alpha Theta. Additionally, Mire was a student council representative, a three-year member of the Marching Wolves, and a Habitat for Humanity Club member. He was also elected senate president of Louisiana Boys State.

Mire volunteered with the National League of Junior Cotillion and was an altar server in his church parish. He will study computer engineering at the University of Alabama.

The Brother Raymond Bulliard, FSC, Valedictory Awards (continued) Preston Olivier, son of Brian and Nanette Olivier of Covington, is an honor graduate and a National Merit Finalist. He was selected the West St. Tammany Exchange Club Student of the Year. Olivier was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and earned the Superior Academic Award each of his five years at Saint Paul’s School. Additionally, he was a four-year letterman varsity pole vaulter and was named to the All-Academic Track and Field Team. He served the school as a CORE Pack Mentor, an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a Student Ambassador, and as co-vice president of Wolves for Tutoring.

Olivier volunteered with the Special Olympics and served as a Catholic Group Leader in his church parish. Olivier traveled to Iceland as part of a class on energy, food, and water to study the country’s use of geothermal energy for power. He will attend Mississippi State University.

Salutatorian Shawn Cooney is the son of Dale and Raney Cooney of Mandeville. In addition to being an honor graduate, he earned many academic accolades during his high school career. Additionally, he served as Drum Major of the Marching Wolves, and he was also a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Wolves for Life, and Editor-in-Chief of The Paper Wolf, earning numerous recognitions for his writing prowess. He served the school as a CORE Pack Mentor, a Student Ambassador, and founded the Wolves for Mental Health Club. In the local community, he volunteered at St. Tammany Hospital and with his church parish. He will attend Louisiana State University to study nutrition and food science.

113th Graduating Class of Saint Paul’s School Saint Paul’s School honored the Class of 2024, the 113th graduating class, with the traditional commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18th, 2024 at 4:00 pm in the Briggs Assembly Center on Saint Paul’s campus. One hundred fifty-six students received diplomas from Mr. Joe Dickens, Principal of Saint Paul’s School, at the graduation mass celebrated by the school chaplain, Father Matthew Clark, OSB. Mr. Lee Pierre, Assistant Principal, served as Master of Ceremonies, while Senior Counselor Mrs. Renée Miller and Curriculum Coordinator Mr. Matt Pinero assisted with awards and diploma presentations. Brother Ken Boesch, FSC, served as the musician for the graduation ceremony. Kaiden Klebba, Brock Duncan, and Joseph DiGiovanni III, all honor graduates, served as readers for the mass.

Elias Ancar, Nick Kelsey, Peyton Kilgore, and Joshua Pichon, all sons of members of the Saint Paul’s faculty and staff, led the intercessions.

The Class of 2024 boasts a number of major academic and athletic accomplishments. Seven seniors were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program: Dominic Muguira and James Scheuermann were recognized as National Merit Hispanic Scholars; Alexander Bradford, Dominic Muguira and Jake Theriot were named Commended Scholars; William Coles, Joseph Mire, and Preston Olivier were recognized as National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Forty-three seniors were named to All-State Academic sports teams by the state of Louisiana.

Graduation Thirteen seniors will attend colleges and universities on scholarships that will allow them to continue their athletic careers: Nick Kelsey and Ben Chiasson will play golf at Spring Hill College, Reece Beckendorf will play tennis at The Citadel, Parker Emery will join East Baptist University's bass fishing team, Braden Farizo will play baseball at Southeastern Louisiana University, Conner Dobie will join the United States Coast Guard Academy swim team, Cayden Arnold will play football at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Wyatt Dupre will play soccer at Belhaven University, John Montour will play baseball at Millsaps College, Jacob Khashou will join the University of Tampa’s track program, Matt Gower will play football at Northwestern State University, Connor Allen will play soccer at the University of Tampa, and Cooper Winchester will play baseball at the Air Force Academy.

Awards presented at the graduation ceremony included valedictorian and salutatorian recognitions given

by Principal Joe Dickens. The Christian Brothers Visitor’s Award was presented to Peyton Kilgore and Kaiden Klebba, and the Signum Fidei, the highest award conferred by the Christian Brothers and given with the Brother Cassian Lange Scholarship, was awarded to both Gunnar Gavel and Benjamin Jacob Strecker, Jr. The Class of 2024 gathered on the lawn in front of the Briggs Assembly Center to sing the school fight song and toss their mortarboards in the air as the graduates have in years past to end the ceremony.

Academic Awards Saint Paul’s School honored a number of students who were selected by the administration and faculty to receive special recognition for their accomplishments in the 2023-24 school year. The special assembly was held in the Gene Bennett Sports Complex. Mr. Lee Pierre, Assistant Principal, served as Master of Ceremonies for the morning assembly, while Brother Ken Boesch, FSC, provided the music. The assembly began with Eddie d’Hemecourt, the 2024-25 Student Body President, leading the students, faculty, and parents in prayer and in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Honored guests from several local community organizations presented awards to a number of deserving students including, District Attorney, Mr. Collin Sims ‘99, who presented the District Attorney’s Award to two outstanding young men of high moral character. Senior Dominic Muguira received the high school award, and pre-freshman Tristan Hauptmann received the award for junior high. Major Alex Trana recognized Cooper Winchester’s appointment to the Air Force Academy. Cooper will play for the Academy’s NCAA Division 1 Men’s Baseball Team.

Major Mack Maginnis, Jr. ‘70 of the Robert H. Burns American Legion Post 16 presented the American Legion Citizen Award to senior Conner Dobie. Mr. and Mrs. Gorney of the St. Tammany Right to Life Association presented Benjamin Jacob Strecker, Jr. with the Right to Life Youth Leadership Award. Principal Joe Dickens presented The Dorothy Blossman Charitable Foundation Scholarship to senior Kaiden Klebba. The Pontchartrain Cancer Center Biomedical Sciences Award was presented by Science Department Chair Dr. Randy Ford to Shawn Cooney.

Academic Awards (continued) A number of families have generously endowed Saint Paul’s School with memorial scholarships that are presented annually at this ceremony. The Graham Thomas Jordan Scholarship was presented by Graham’s mother and father, Mary Ellen and Garry Jordan to junior Kirk “Turner” Michel. The Robert Simpson Chosen Path Scholarship is awarded to a sophomore in honor of the late Robert Simpson, graduate of the Class of 1988 and long-time faculty member. The scholarship was presented to Connor Russo by Robert Simpson’s wife, Anne.

The Joseph Michael Cherry Memorial Scholarship was presented by Gina Pausina Cherry, Joseph’s mother, to two seniors who best exemplify Joseph’s spirit, character, and qualities; this year Jack Ourso and Connor Fernandez were awarded this scholarship. .

The Francis A. Richard Scholarship is presented annually for work with Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Richard Pichon, Habitat for Humanity Club moderator, presented the 2024 award to junior Jacob Trosclair. Additionally, Mr. Pichon was recognized for 25 years of service to the Habitat for Humanity organization.

Special “Habitat Hammers” were presented to the following seniors who have demonstrated diligence and dedication to the Saint Paul’s Habitat Club: Nicholas Lowe, Joshua Pichon, and Christopher Roberts.

Porter Boudreaux and Dane Delaune, current Saint Paul’s students and nephews of the late Daren Boudreaux, a graduate of the Class of 1987, presented Jacob Revere with the Daren Boudreaux Scholarship.

Mrs. Jane Kolb and Mr. Jeptha Kolb ‘82, mother and brother of the late Eric Kolb, a graduate of the Class of 1985, presented the Eric Kolb Scholarship along with the 2022-23 recipient, Phoenix Bigler, to junior Matthias Burns.

Academic Awards (continued) Principal Joe Dickens presented the Justin Addison Memorial Scholarship to junior Jackson Picone, and the Francis R. Sharp Scholarship to three seniors who, like Mr. Sharp, were active in a number of extracurricular activities during their Saint Paul’s career: Parker Emery, Joseph DiGiovanni III, and Samuel Drez; all received a portion of the scholarship. The Louis Ross Memorial Scholarship is presented to seniors who have achieved perfect attendance for four or five years. Dean of Students Ken Sears presented a certificate and scholarship to Austin Asher who was recognized for four years of perfect attendance. English Department Chair Matthew Pinero presented the Walker and Bunt Percy Scholarship to junior Perrin Duhe and the Walker Percy/Brother Bill Parsons Writing Award to senior Austin Asher.

Saint Paul’s academic departments present several awards for outstanding work in particular fields. Steven Meyers earned the Al Doskey Award and Scholarship for accomplishments in science presented by Dr. Randy Ford. The Jan Neumann Math Award was presented by Jan Neumann’s spouse, Dr. Howard Neumann and daughter, Dr. Michele Cooper to William Coles.

Kaiden Klebba earned the Modern Languages Award presented

by Language Department Chair Liz Brett. Junior Sean Lenahan was presented with the Quiz Bowl Captain/Brother Bill Parsons Scholarship for his dedication to the Quiz Bowl Team by moderator Mrs. Kim Gardner. Ms. Carla Barwick of the Saint Paul’s Core Pack program presented Benjamin Jacob Strecker, Jr. with the Core Pack Mentor Award. The Larry McIntire Award for Excellence in Social Studies was awarded to Shawn Cooney by social studies faculty member and daughter of Larry McIntire ‘60, Mrs. Kim Gardner.

Medals for superior achievement, an award given to students achieving the highest combination of academic excellence and extracurricular involvement, are given with the Barton Hebert Scholarship. Silver medals were presented to Cullen Hyman, Evan Guilbault, Connor Russo, Lathan Harrell, and William Coles. Gold medal were presented to Dev Patel, Andrew Danenhower, Claude Scarpelli and Joseph Mire.

2024 Brother Charles Crouzet, FSC Award Recipient - Liz Brett Brother Charles Crouzet was a founding Christian Brother at Saint Paul’s School in 1918.

He was a consummate educator: gentle, kind, totally committed to his students, innovative in approach and methodology, deeply spiritual and very humble. He was not one to draw attention to himself, but quietly went about his work, always striving to improve things, always working for the good of his students, always reliable and professional. The Brother Charles Crouzet Award is equivalent to teacher of the year.

During the 2024 Academic Awards ceremony, Saint Paul’s Principal, Mr. Joe Dickens, presented the Brother Charles Crouzet, FSC Award to Mrs. Liz Brett, offering the following reflection: “She is a high energy pedagogue who manifests zeal for her profession consistently. She came to us over twenty years ago as a parent and almost twenty years ago as an instructor.

Her impact in the classroom was immediately evident. She adjusted seamlessly to high school and created a foreign language course that students have thoroughly enjoyed for almost two decades.

Her creativity and thoughtful lesson planning engage her students, and the atmosphere in her room is welcoming, fun, organized, and loud.

She also holds her students to high standards and habitually gets their best.

She is a great leader who has been one of our most effective department chairs for years. She has taken innumerable teachers under her wings to help them get acclimated to our Lasallian charism and all-male environment. She has also never hesitated to help a colleague and has always operated with selflessness.

I have always appreciated the interest that she has taken in each of her students, and undoubtedly, that’s why they have responded positively to her. I, too, appreciate that she understands teenage boys so well; she very effectively connects with her students while managing them.

I can attest that there is not an employee at Saint Paul’s who is more consistent. She has been such an effective teacher and department chair, and I am eternally grateful for her dependability and professionalism. Heck, she is even my most impactful lunch duty proctor.

Beyond her pedagogical prowess, she is, in a word, simply one of the best people that I know. She is an amazing mom, spouse, colleague, and friend. I am blessed to have known her socially for years because she’s incredibly fun and can workshop people on how to socialize, and she has an intrinsic ability to brighten any room that she enters. She is retiring, and I will miss her big smile, colorful wardrobe, warm personality, and loud voice.”

Pre-Freshmen Promotion Saint Paul’s School administration, faculty, and families of pre-freshmen gathered in the Briggs Assembly Center to congratulate the students of the Class of 2028 who completed their first year of required coursework. Mr. Joe Dickens, Principal of Saint Paul’s School, served as Master of Ceremonies for the evening while Brother Ken Boesch, FSC, provided the music. Curriculum Coordinator, Mr. Matt Pinero, announced the names of the pre-freshmen and the academic award winners, and Assistant Principal Mr. Lee Pierre and Pre-Freshmen Counselor Mrs. Gina Hall, AFSC, assisted with the diploma and awards distribution.

The program began with the traditional Saint Paul’s opening hymn, “Rise Up, O Men of God.” The first reading was done by Griffin Brownell, Brayden Ford, Charles Dorhauer, and Connor Frederick. The second reading was read by Noah Rea, Charles Richard, Payne Weileman, and Jacob Zeringue. Saint Paul’s science department chair, Randy Ford and his wife Nicole, parents of pre-freshman Brayden Ford, read the Gospel. Pre-Freshmen religion teacher, Brother Ken Boesch, FSC, offered remarks following the Gospel.

Academic course medals, honor roll letters, and other awards were presented to a number of students in the class. Special recognition went to: Patrick Powell, Noah Rea, John-Ryan Bastion, Brayden Ford, Lucas Gristina, Brent Fields, Payne Weileman, Jackson Cordone, Michael Kennedy, Connor Frederick, Griffin Brownell, and Charles Dorhauer for outstanding academic achievement. Jacob Zeringue and Charles Richard received recognition for outstanding accomplishments in both academics and extracurricular activities, and for these accomplishments, they were also awarded the Barton Hebert Memorial Scholarship.

Following the award recognitions, Eddie d’Hemecourt, the 2024-25 Student Council President, imparted a blessing upon the rising freshmen class.

Mr. Dickens then presented the students with their certificates, and the students ended the program with the traditional song, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

Athletic Awards Saint Paul’s School’s administration, faculty, coaching staff, and student body honored the coaches and athletes for their outstanding contributions in a special ceremony held in the Gene Bennett Sports Complex on Friday, May 10th.

Athletic Director Sam Francis began the major athletic awards program with a recap of the 2023-24 sports seasons stating that Saint Paul’s had over 650 students participate in at least one sport. The teams combined to earn 6 district titles, 4 regional championships, one parish title, and one state runner-up title. Thirty-seven individual athletes were named to the all-district teams including 5 most valuable players, and 27 All-Parish, All-Region, or All-Metro athletes. Three students individually earned the title of state champion. Two seniors were named to their respective Academic All-State Composite teams with a perfect 4.0 GPA, 51 seniors earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher and were named to All-Academic teams in their respective sports, several in more than one sport. In addition to the students garnering honors, Saint Paul’s coaching staff earned 4 Coaches of the Year titles, and one All Parish Coach of the Year.

The major athletic awards were presented by members of the coaching staff. The outstanding athlete award combines all the Lasallian values, leadership, dedication, academic achievement, and strength of character with the ability to perform masterfully on the field, or court. Underclassmen awarded “The Outstanding Athlete Award” included: Andrew Shofstahl, Brady Pierson, Scott Cascio, Cody Corales, and Jackson Peak.

Several members of the class of 2024 were honored with the traditional athletic awards. Jacob Khashou and Brock Duncan each earned the C.L. Marcotte Award for being the best scholar-athlete in the Class of 2024.

The Eddie Polk Memorial Award recognizes the dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment to the ideals of a Lasallian athlete and was presented to Cooper Winchester and Conner Dobie.

Michael Sarver, Conlan Enk, and Ben Buisson earned the Jimmy Dunn Memorial Award for the best all-around athletes.

The 2024 Jason Whittle Memorial Award honoree, Christian Russell, continually demonstrated enthusiasm, team spirit, selflessness, and sacrifice for the betterment of the team and his teammates.

who retired from their coaching positions at the conclusions of their seasons: Matt Pinero and Mick Nunez have stepped away from their respective sports, wrestling and baseball, to assume roles as part of the school’s administrative team next school year, and Ricky Zimmer, the Wolves rugby coach, retired from teaching at Saint Paul’s School.

College Signings

Saint Paul’s School recognized two student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to participate in collegiate athletics. A ceremony was held at Saint Paul’s School in the Briggs Assembly Center in the Spring to celebrate the accomplishments of these seniors.

Saint Paul’s School Announces Plans for a New Dining Hall Experience

Scheduled to Open for the 2024-25 School Year

Not only will the students enjoy a new space, the school has changed to a new food service provider, Pigeon’s Catering, which has a proven track record of providing fresh, healthy, desirable and reasonably priced food offerings in an efficient and responsive manner.

Renovations to the cafeteria are underway.
