TITLE PAGE EDUCATION AND TRAINING VOCATIONAL The popularity of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses continues to grow here at St Mary’s College and each year a large percentage of our Year 12 learners complete their final year of schooling with at least some credit towards VET qualifications, with some students completing a whole certificate as part of their studies. VET courses are open to students in Years 10, 11 and 12. In Year 11 and 12, VET programs occupy one line of 150 hours. Some qualifications will take one year to complete, and others two years. Within each program, students are provided with the opportunity to complete 'an on-the-job’ work placement. Tasmanian Certificate of Education points for VET courses are awarded for each unit achieved within the VET qualification. St Mary’s College is committed to providing learners with access to a broad range of VET qualifications and will consider negotiating partnerships with other training providers to enable students to access VET qualifications not provided directly by the College. VET qualifications are nationally recognised, reviewed and updated in consultation with industry stakeholders. The VET courses offered at St Mary’s College reflect industry needs and may change each year accordingly.
