Students invited to enter 19th annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest The St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum is seeking entries for the 2022 Art and Writing Contest. The national contest asks creative middle and high school students in grades 6 thought 12 to express the difficult and inspiring lessons of the Holocaust. Entries must be submitted through the online contest form no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 25. This is the 19th year that the annual competition has been held in dedication to the memory of the 1.5 million children murdered in the Holocaust. Winning entries in each division will be awarded cash prizes and will be displayed at the newly expanded Museum during its grand re-opening events in late summer 2022. For the writing contest, students may write a poem, newspaper article, story, play/dialogue, or essay. Entries will be judged on content, originality, quality of expression and accuracy. For the art contest, students may create a sculpture, drawing, photograph, painting, poster, collage, or five-minute video. The work will be judged on creativity, excellence and content. The contest theme this year is inspired by a powerful quote from Anne Frank, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Frank family going into hiding in the “Secret Annex” in Amsterdam. JCA Charitable Foundation gifts $1 million to Crown Center Crown Center for Senior Living has received a $1 million grant from the JCA Charitable Foundation. The donation will help fund Crown’s construction project being undertaken to replace the original structure on their University City site. The project consists of building new, quality, affordable apartments for older adults who have limited financial resources, and includes community spaces where tailored programming is delivered to both residents and senior adults in the area. “Crown Center’s project aligns with the JCA Charitable Foundation’s mission to provide for the financial and emotional needs of older adults,” said Judy Mange, foundation director. Crown’s Board President Sally Altman added, “We are proud to have earned the trust of the JCA Charitable Foundation; and are extremely grateful for their generous gift to the capital campaign.”
