Saint Henry School’s athletic teams had a busy year and enjoyed the normalcy of this year. The 5th & 6th grade volleyball teams had an exciting season, the 6th-8th golf team swung the clubs well, a flag football program was started for 1st-4th graders, and the soccer teams played hard during the season with the 7th and 8th grade varsity team winning the League and Tournament Championship! There were four 5th & 6th grade volleyball teams this year. Each team’s skill level grew a great deal during the season. All the teams finished with winning records with several of them having only lost one or two matches the entire season. The future looks bright for the volleyball program at Saint Henry School! The golf team also had a successful season. There was no team championship this year, but that did not stop the Tigers from showing their stripes. Connor Cahill won the end of the season tournament, and the title of Best Overall Player for Division I. Thomas Johns also had a strong showing, coming in third during the end of the season tournament. The diocese attempted to start a flag football league right before covid hit and it was exciting to see this program finally come to fruition this year. The league was for 1st-4th grade and the Tigers had threteams during this inaugural season. There was one 3rd & 4th grade team and it was fun watching their teamwork and skill grow during the season. The two 1st & 2nd grade teams had great seasons as well, and Coach Wilson’s team went undefeated! The diocese is already discussing the option to expand this program to other grades during the upcoming season.

The spring season concluded with soccer and the Tigers had a strong showing this year again with one 5th and 6th grade team and two 7th & 8th grade teams consisting of a Junior Varsity and a Varsity team. The 5th & 6th grade team had a fantastic season and lost only one game during the season. The 7th & 8th grade teams (JV and V) both were successful this year in the varsity division. The JV team won their first round of the tournament, avenging a loss from earlier in the season, and lost in the semi-finals. The varsity team finished the season undefeated and won the League Championship. They backed up that performance coming out the champions of the end of season tournament as well!

The spring sports season was an enormous success, and all the teams had a great showing. Preparations are already underway for the fall athletic season at Tiger Town. The athletic program would not be a success without hard work and commitment from the athletes and coaches.
