University at Buffalo (SUNY Buffalo) Bonjour and welcome to today's video Gemma Bell Ana Elaine that's about the extent of my French language skills but today I am teaching you how to achieve a classic French Parisien makeup style this is actually part of a new series I'm running on my channel don't worry I haven't forgotten about my 100 years of makeup series that are still going I just like to have a couple of series going at one time so that it keeps my a creativity and inspiration alive so this is a series where I'm gonna focus on makeup trends from different parts around the world so just a quick disclaimer obviously when I'm dealing with different cultures around the world I have to be very very careful that I'm not appropriating those cultures so these makeup tutorials are not dealing with like what I would call cultural makeup such as geisha makeup or something and because that for me is appropriation so I'm going with the makeup trends that like everyday modern women wear so that's very much where I'm coming from with this series I do have a few other countries I'm keen to do but what I would really love and what would help me out a lot is if you are from a country that's not my own I would love for you to put in the comments below some information about what women typically wear or do with their makeup on a regular sort of daily basis from your country that would really help me out say if you're from Germany I would love to know what the sort of German makeup trains are so just put a little comment below and telling me a bit about that it will really help me out to achieve what I recall geographically informed makeup tutorials like my hundred years of makeup series as historically informed but set in a modern context obviously because I am a modern woman I will take inspiration from these different countries and how women wear they make up looking at the techniques as well as sort of the products they use so thank you for letting me get that disclaimer out it just means a lot to me that I do this the right way before we get started I do just want to warmly invite you to subscribe to my channel if you are new I would love to have you around I do lots of makeup tutorials and videos focused around finding beauty solutions for pale skin tones because I am extremely fair and I also do some more lifestyle videos as well showing you a little bit about like what makes me up as a person you could say so don't forget to give this video a like and let's get into the tutorial so today's focus is a lot about perfecting the skin and just getting that really flawless glowing natural look so I'm going in with a primer first I'm gonna use the hourglass veil mineral primer the reason I really like this primer it's not like overly hydrating or anything but it really just smooths out your skin texture and I have got moisturizer on underneath it just to help give my skin some hydration now before I go in and put foundation on I'm just going to go in with a little bit of Mac strobe cream I have this really adorable little sample size that I got with a recent order from Mac I'm just going to put some of this it's kind of on like targeted parts of the face it's going to only add a very subtle luminosity through the foundation the foundation of chosen to use is the Tarte rainforest of the sea foundation this is in the shade of porcelain and I love this foundation I think it's perfect for giving that very sort of skin like finish to the face and I'm just using a damp Beauty blender to blend that in which does help to achieve a really Juby luminous finish as well and then I'm going to go in with a concealer and do some spot conceals using my nice soft mesh complete concealer and Chantelle II and just the Ecotools airbrush concealer brush and I'm just going to apply this very full coverage concealer to the areas where I really need the coverage this is a technique that I learned from Lisa Eldridge where you can achieve a very flawless base by applying a light layer of foundation and then just going in with a full coverage concealer on the bits of what you need it I like to apply the concealer with a brush and then use my finger or even go back in with my damp Beauty Blender just to blend it out your fingers quite useful because it does melt the product into the skin and I know that the French do like using their hand then under my eyes I'm going to use a different concealer I'm going to use something a little bit more hydrating and I'm gonna use the Too Faced Born This Way naturally radiant concealer in the shade fairest however instead of doing my usual technique where I just sort of smear it under in a big triangle I'm gonna do it just a couple of dots and then I'm going to take this little flat top sort of fluffy brush and blend it in that way just using this brush to kind of distribute the product and then to achieve a very flawless finish I'm gonna go in with my finger and just kind of press the product into my skin I'm going to very very light you sit under my eyes with my Kat Von D translucent powder i find this powder to be really really silky and finely milled it doesn't look too detectable but I do really need to set my concealer or else I'll get creasing and just taking a little bit of the product really tapping off the excess and then I'm just going to press that under the eye it's just to set the concealer so it won't move but we don't want to look powdery and I'll also just do a little bit here right where I get kind of slightly larger pores this is just so this doesn't look oily we don't want to over powder our skin but we also don't want the middle to be like super shiny

I'm not gonna go in and do any contouring or anything but I am gonna put a slight wash of warmth over my skin using the makeup geek sunkissed fair-skinned bronzer so this is quite a pale bronzer it does have a very slight sheen to it so it looks quite natural on the skin and I'm using a really large fearless cosmetics brush this is from their body Couture kit and I'm just going to apply this where the Sun would naturally hit right on top of the cheeks you don't want to go below where the contour would be you just want to kind of bring a little bit of warmth to the whole face that's why I'm using such a large brush I really like the warmth to look quite natural and just blown out and therefore blush I'm gonna go in with something that's quite muted I would love to have gone in with a cream blush because I feel like that would give a much better finish but I don't really have any in my collection right now so I'm just in use this one from Too Faced it's the love flush blush this is very very very flattering on pale skin it's what I would call Adam you should sort of dusky pink so it looks a lot like my natural flush color which is what you want to pick and then I like to go back in with my Beauty Blender and just kind of go over the whole blushed area and what it does is it kind of pushes the product into the skin and makes it look like you've applied a cream blush even if you haven't now you can see that my skin does have a really nice glow to it just because of the prepping products we've used on the base so you could totally leave it like this if you wanted or you could go in with a very sort of wet looking highlighter I really love the Mac and double gleam it'll give a very sort of wet look to the skin so I'm using my hakuhodo brush with this one in just a very small amount and I'm gonna be really really detailed about where I place it it's just to kind of emphasize there a little bit more to give it a bit more of a kick but you really don't use much product at all I literally just sort of tap it in and then I spend a lot of time pushing the product into the skin you really do want to push push push it'll really help to get the product to mission with the oils of your natural skin and again you can use your Beauty Blender to help mesh the product in with the skin so it looks a lot more natural this next step again could be quite optional but I'm gonna go in with some finishing powder you want to pick something that's very finely milled very luminescent it's not gonna matter fire at all but it will help a little bit to set your makeup and keep the longevity throughout the day the ones I've picked out on my ghoul and meteorites like little coloured balls and then I just apply a light dusting of this all across my face and this is like what I call airbrush in real life it makes your blush and highlight and everything just look so much more natural and seamless plus it doesn't look super powdery on the skin obviously hourglass make really great finishing powders as well and the if so Beauty highlighting powder and Aurora is another favorite of mine that I love doing with the step but that one is like NYX level glowy because it's basically a highlighter but just a very subtle highlighter so I use it like a finishing powder the girl Anne is like a little bit more subtle that's why I went with this one and then I'm gonna apply a finishing mist so as I said these are all very like extra products but if you want to emulate that beautiful French Parisien look you want to have gorgeous skin so you want to spend all your time in the skin because we're not gonna do very much for the eyes I'm going in with my Too Faced hangover 3 and one replenishing primer and setting spray just such a great product for melting powders back into your sort of natural skin texture so that's why I love it the reason I like doing this before my eye makeup is I find sometimes when my eyes are shut and I'm spraying it and it gets which like I'll get some eye makeup under my eyes and you can see like the skin now just looks absolutely beautiful I love taking the time to really perfect the skin better have it look in a way that are super natural and just like you woke up like crazy and brows embraced a little bit more of a natural style it's not quite as sculpted as something like an Instagram brow but they do pay attention to framing the face using the brows my sort of natural day to day brow is pretty Parisien you could say because i don't go overboard but I try and I try and use products minimally but I definitely sculpt them because as you can see I'm not blessed with like super beautiful natural full brows so I'm going to go in with my Ennis tarsier dip brow and blonde now my biggest tip would be don't overload the brush with too much product if you need to you can even like wipe off some product on the inside of the cap it's quite a good way so that you don't end up with too much product because that's when things start to look quite unnatural and then I'm just gonna set my brows with the benefit gimme brow this isn't shade one now for the eyes all I'm gonna do is do some defining so I'm using a my over Decay Naked basics palette which has a lot of really nice neutral shades and most of them are matte i'm firstly going to take their color walk of shame and just put this all over the lid this is a really soft matte peachy color which is pretty close to my skin tone and it just helps to kind of give your other shadows something to blend into and I'm just using the number three brush from hourglass then I'm going to take my hakuhodo blending brush and the color Naked 2 which is a soft cool toned taupe and I'm gonna put this through the crease just to define it a little bit a good tip is to keep your eye open as you normally would and then just do like little circular motions brightening up my lower waterline with my chichi eye brightener and then I'm gonna take a black kohl pencil this is the Gazelle wave a graphic eyes in black to earth so you just want to put a line on the outer third of the upper lash line and then use your pencil brush to help to blend that in now you could also do that step just using the black shadow that's in this palette it's up to you whether you feel more comfortable with an eyeshadow or a

pencil then you just want to go in with your favorite mascara I'm using this Tarte lights camera lashes mascara just to finish off the eyes and we're only going to apply this mascara to the top lashes we're gonna do two coats so that they're really flattery but we're not going to apply mascara to the lower lashes to finish off the look we're going in with a statement red lipstick that's why I keep the eyes very very simple and just to find them because the French typically pick one element either the eyes or the lips to emphasize so the lipstick I'm using today is a very exciting new one that I've got recently it's one of the new MAC lipsticks from their Christmas collection this is in the color Rouge on snow it's like a gorgeous blue base cherry red [Music] so that's the finished look they're a super super classic very wearable for day to day it makes a beautiful work makeup look if you really trying to make a statement with the red lip but you want to still look very appropriate for daytime the simple eye really peers beautifully with it so if you enjoyed this tutorial and found it helpful don't forget to give it a thumbs up for me it does really help me out and don't forget to leave your suggestions for other countries in the comments below it would really help me out if you want to see my last tutorial for pale skin I'll link that up here and if you want to go see my last blog we can learn a little bit more about me and see what I do on a daily basis you can click up here I warmly welcome you to subscribe to my channel by clicking on my face down here and until next time have a great few days and I'll see you in my next video Mercy College (New York).
