Leader of Learning Visual Arts

Principal Mark Bonnici invites suitably qualified and experienced teachers to indicate their interest and willingness to fulfil this position. This position is a significant permanent full time leadership role supporting quality teaching and learning in a thriving educational setting.

The role of the Visual Arts Leader of Learning is to promote the College and Edmund Rice ethos through strategic leadership of the College learning agenda in collaboration with the Leader of Learning Team and teaching staff. In so doing, the Visual Arts Leader of Learning demonstrates an affinity with the Catholic philosophy and values as expressed in the Charter for Edmund Rice Schools and promotes excellence in teaching and learning practices especially as they relate to the education of boys.

The Visual Arts Leader of Learning reports to the Directors of Teaching and Learning, Curriculum and Professional Learning.

The Visual Arts Leader of Learning is an excellent teacher in terms of knowledge of contemporary teaching methodology, creativity and innovation, classroom management, methods of evaluation and professional development.

Applicants are asked to provide:

1. A completed Employment Application form (available on College website).

2. A cover letter outlining reasons for your interest in the position (one page).

3. A Curriculum Vitae with two referees including current employer.

4. A statement addressing the essential requirements below (please limit your response to no more than four pages).

Essential Criteria

The position requires a person who:

• Has an affinity with and appreciation for the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice and the EREA Charter Touchstones.

• Can demonstrate an ability to work with the Directors of Teaching and Learning, Professional Learning and Curriculum and members of the faculty in the development and implementation contemporary approaches to teaching and learning.

• Can demonstrate the support, promotion and leadership of the College Explicit Learning Agenda.

• Demonstrates experience and excellent knowledge and understanding of current Curriculum developments, especially as they relate to Visual Arts syllabus documents across Stages 4-6.

• Actively support the establishment of a culture of continuous learning and improvement in the faculty by initiating and negotiating change and actively promoting professional learning of colleagues.

• Demonstrates competence and confidence in the effective use of technologies to enhance student learning in a one-to-one learning environment.

• Can demonstrate an excellent understanding of contemporary educational research, including current pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning.

• Can foster continued creativity and innovation in the teaching of subjects within in the Visual Arts faculty.

• Can demonstrate successful leadership and teaching experience utilising effective organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills.

• Can demonstrate an excellent ability in the use of data to inform decision making and teaching practice.

• Can demonstrate an ability to relate positively with students, staff and parents and a willingness to work in a collaborative team.

Commencement Arrangement

The successful applicant will commence this permanent full-time position in January 2026.
