7 Grade Retreat at Stations of the Cross & Sand Dunes
Date: Wednesday, October 1, 2025
October Count is the most important attendance day of the year for the Columba Enrichment Program. Funding for our program depends on every student being counted on this day.
Attendance is verified through classwork
Each student will complete a math or CKLA assignment with their name and the date. Assignments are collected as proof of attendance. If your child will be absent: Have your child complete the assignment at home on October 1st. Scan or take a clear photo of the work. Send it the same day to both the main office and your child’s teacher. (Use their CEP email account) Assignments must be submitted on October 1st only (not before or after).
Reminders will be sent the night before and on the day of October Count.
October Count provides 50% of each student’s state funding (PPR). This funding allows CEP to continue offering excellent resources, staff, and enrichment opportunities for all students.
Thank you for helping make this day a success for our school community!

Our October Lunch Menu is below for your convenience. All gluten free options are noted.
Several of you probably heard this update from your excited student, but we are now using Little Caesar’s for our pizza Fridays.
K-8 students will be attending their first Prayer & Praise assembly of the year Thursday, October 2 , at 8:15 in the gym. Families are invited to join us each month. Each assembly includes lessons from Fr. John and Mr. Chick and an introduction to our monthly Friendzy theme as well as St. Columba Awards for students who have gone above and beyond expectaions.
By tradition, the Catholic Church dedicates each month of the year to a certain devotion. The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The rosary is a cherished devotion where we contemplate the mysteries of Jesus’ life, death, and Resurrection through the heart of our Blessed Mother. On Tuesday, October 7 , at 2:15, in the Church, the 2 , 3 , and 4 grade will be hosting a Living Rosary for the school. We hope you will join us. th nd rd th
Thank you to all of our volunteers who have been helping in the kitchen, on field trips and retreats, in the classroom, on library trips, and prepping for our Field Day!
Please log your hours HERE to have them count towards your service hours commitment.
We recently sent out a list of service hours opportunities. It can be found HERE in case you missed it
We do have an at home service hours opportunity that wasn’t listed, The parish’s liturgy & music coordinator has worship aids that need folded each week. You would pick them up after school on Wednesdays and return them by Friday afternoons. Please email office@stcolumbaschooldurango.org if you would like to take on this task.
