THE PARISH CONNECTION

Who are the Knights of Columbus?
The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal organization that provides charitable services, life insurance, and community support to local parishes in Durango including St. Columba, Sacred Heart, St. Ignatius in Ignacio and St. Bartholomew in Bayfield The Knights were founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney to care for local Catholic communities. Today, the Knights are 2.1 million members strong and donate $185 million each year to our Catholic communities worldwide. The Knights provide 70 million hours of volunteer work each year as well.
How do the Knights support our local community?
We have 75 men from the Durango and neighboring communities who focus on charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. The Knights in the Durango chapter, for example, support our local food pantry and the VITA youth ministry, support landscaping at St Bartholomew in Bayfield, led church repairs for St Ignatius in Ignacio and support St. Columba's upgrades including the recent sidewalk replacement.
How can you learn more and get involved?
Please refer to the Knights' webpage https://www.kofc-durango.org/ or call Kevin Brennan at (970) 799-3935 to learn more about our upcoming events or to discuss joining the Knights and supporting our work with parishes in the area.
A bit of trivia
1) How many Knights are there worldwide?
2) How much money do the Knights donate to their local communities each year worldwide?
3) How many volunteer hours do the Knights donate worldwide each year?
4) On the local Knights of Columbus website HERE what is the next event coming up for all to attend? When will it be?
