MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION Dear STAOPCS Families, Our Lucky Hearts Gala is one week away and the excitement is building on campus for what is sure to be the greatest celebration of the year. We hope you will be joining us for fellowship and FUNdraising. There’s still time to get your tickets! If you're unable to attend, you can still help to make the event a success by participating in sign-up parties and bidding in the online auction. Let's make this year's Gala the best yet!

Our IOWA© standardized testing begins on Monday for students in 1st – 8th grades. You can make a difference for your child by making sure they get a good night’s sleep, eat a hearty breakfast and are at school on time on testing days. We continue to accept and process applications for Pre-K3, Pre-K4, 2nd, 3rd and 7th grades for '18-'19, so spread the word.

Our Discipleship message for the week is about sharing. At the heart of discipleship is the question of what God wants us to do with what He has given or blessed us with. I love the quote that says, “Life is God’s gift to you. What you do with your life is your Gift to God.” We are called to love God and to love others by responding to people we meet along the way as Jesus would have. There are many ways of responding to the needs of people we meet, not just with money, but also with our time, our skills and our knowledge. Each and every time we share the love of Jesus with someone else, we proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God. We gather at table with our parish family this weekend for the second Sunday of Easter. We conclude the Octave of Easter with the great feast of Divine Mercy.

While the Octave comes to an end, we continue in the Easter Season. On Sunday we will reflect on and rejoice in the beauty that is the mercy of God. Maybe we’ll see each other at Mass. God's blessings to everyone for a great week!

ALL-SCHOOL NEWS TESTING INFORMATION During the weeks of April 9-13 and April 1620, students in 1st through 8th grades will be taking the IOWA Assessments as well as students in 1st through 7th grades will be taking the CogAT. We will not be testing on Wednesday or Friday each week. We are using these days to review skills and concepts for the subtests and administer make-up tests.

Please make sure your child is in school and on time on testing days. They need to be here by 8:00 a.m. and students coming in after this time will need to come back at 10:30 a.m. We do not want to disrupt the testing environment for our students. Please do not schedule any dentists or doctor appointments on these days. It is important that you child is in attendance.

COUNSELOR’S CORNER BY MRS. O’CONNOR The character trait for April is Citizenship (stewardship, sportsmanship).

Citizenship is having good manners and using kind words. It is also includes obeying rules, respecting authority and accepting responsibility for your actions.

Citizenship is what you do to make your home, school, neighborhood, and community better places. The social skills for April are: How to apologize, How to accept decisions, corrections and consequences from authority and How to disagree appropriately.

IMPORTANT DATES FOR APRIL:  Iowa/CogAt testing begins on Monday, April 9th.  Career Awareness Week is scheduled for April 16—April 20. On Friday, April 20th we are hosting our first ever Career & Community Helper Day.  Shelly Brown, coauthor of the book “Mustaches for Maddie” will be visiting our campus to present her story and very important message about compassion, bullying, and facing the trials of life with laughter, imagination, and maybe even a few fake mustaches. This assembly is for our 4th—8th grade students.

UPCOMING DATES:  Student Ambassador Program—This is a wonderful way for our students to serve others and a great opportunity to meet new friends. Information will be coming out in May to register for the Student Ambassador program.  Iowa/CogAt Parent Meeting—We will offer a parent meeting for interrupting your child’s test scores. A date for this meeting will be coming out in May.

Simon and Jude with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Prayers of Saint Faustina, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Benediction and Veneration of the Image.
