Dear Friends, Welcome to our Run for the Roses Gala! This year marks our 21st Annual Auction. We love the opportunity to gather together in this way as parents, faculty, staff, grandparents, benefactors and friends of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. As we celebrate our 21st Auction, we have many past achievements to praise and so many great things on the horizon! There are some amazing packages and opportunities to bid on – and we are very excited about this year’s Raise the Paddle plans!

We are especially thankful for Gala Chairs, Meghann & Billy Martin, our Gala Committee, and all the volunteers who stepped up to serve our school in this way. Pulling off such an exciting event like this requires a full year of planning and this Committee has certainly raised the bar with their dedication and generosity.

Tonight we are pleased to honor Heidi & John Bong with our Founder’s Award and St. Luke’s Health with our Community Partner Award. We thank them for their dedication and support of our school and Catholic education throughout the years.

St. Anthony of Padua Founders Award: JOHN & HEIDI BONG Our school is thrilled to honor John and Heidi Bong as this year’s recipient of the St. Anthony of Padua Founders Award. Heidi and John have made a long-term and significant impact on our school and parish community. John has worn almost every hat available at St. Anthony of Padua: substitute teacher, PTO leadership, field trip chaperone, cafeteria supervisor volunteer, car line champion and so much more. Heidi helped coordinate many of our past gala auction items and is well known for logging many volunteer hours at our Scholastic Book Fairs!

Over the years, they have given generously to the Fund for St. Anthony and shared their passion for the success and growth of our school. Their daughter, Ana, graduated last year and their daughter, Sara, will graduate next month. Since they helped our school before they were parents here, we are confident they’ll still maintain a presence here as alumni parents.

The impact they have had on our school since almost its founding has been profound.

St. Anthony of Padua Community Partner Award: ST. LUKE’S HEALTH We are honoring a business in our community who has consistently invested in our school, our students, and our staff through their generous support of our mission and vision.

This honor is given only when a business or organization is identified for their exemplary dedication and commitment to St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. We are pleased to announce the recipient of this year’s St. Anthony of Padua Community Partner Award is St. Luke’s Health. St. Luke’s Health was a founding partner in our Community Partner Program which helps support our student events like Go Texan Day, International Day, and Fun Field Day. During the pandemic, we partnered with St. Luke’s Health to create masks designed our students, and write cards for their healthcare workers.

SILENT AUCTION WILL CLOSE AT 10:00 PM. SINGLE BID VS. AUTO-BID A single bid can be placed as a one-time bid for any amount. An autobid can be placed and set at the maximum amount you are willing to spend. With auto-bid, our system will place your bid at the minimum amount needed to lead. When you are outbid, our system will automatically bid for you until your maximum is reached.

WHO WINS? When two bids are placed for the same amount, the bid placed first, based on the timestamp, wins. Timestamps are set when the initial bid is placed, for auto-bids this is when the initial maximum bid was set.

For one awesome, action-packed day, your child can “rule the school” as acting Principal for a Day! Start the day by leading morning prayers and announcements, followed by a planning meeting with Mrs. Tucker. Don’t forget to schedule a few classroom observations and story time in Pre-K. After your hot chocolate break, you may choose to announce a “mandatory recess” for your grade or call someone to the Principal’s office! The possibilities are endless!

PETE THE PUPPY “PETE” is the PERFECT addition to your family! This sweet puppy was born in December 2022, and is a mixed breed of Welsh Corgi and mini Australian Shepherd. CLASSROOM INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARDS We are excited to announce that our Raise the Paddle project this year will be the purchase and installation of new interactive whiteboards.

Our current interactive boards were purchased many years ago and reached their technology life cycle. With aging projectors and no way to upgrade or expand the hardware, it is time to take a leap forward in form and function.

Studies have shown that using interactive whiteboard technology in the classroom raises test scores, improves student learning, boosts attentiveness, and increases comprehension. Teachers report the number one benefit they see in their classrooms is an increase in student engagement.

Interactive boards provide an extraordinary opportunity for teachers to create a classroom environment where students with different learning styles can learn from each other. This easy-to-learn technology ensures that both teachers and their students are developing the 21st century skills that they need in order to succeed in today’s world.
