MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION Dear STAOPCS Families, Where has the month of March gone? It seems like we just started the month and it's already the end. Our middle school students enjoyed their overnight field trips last week including a very memorable "snowy" trip to DC for 8th grade. Congratulations to our newest inductees into the National Junior Honor Society. We are so proud of these students and their accomplishments.

We still have so much coming our way before summer. Third quarter report cards will be posted this afternoon. Our second family survey of the year closes later today. Thank you to all of our families who shared information on academics, homework and foreign language. We continue to accept and process applications for Pre-K3, PreK-4, 2nd, 3rd and 7th grades for '18-'19, so spread the word.

Our Lucky Hearts Gala is just a few weeks away and the excitement is building on campus for what is sure to be the greatest celebration of the year. We hope you will be joining us for the celebration. There’s still time to get your tickets! If you're unable to attend, you can still help to make the event a success by participating in sign-up parties and bidding in the Silent Auction when it opens online. Let's make this year's Gala the best yet!

Our Discipleship message this week is about the Resurrection. Sometimes we forget how deep the meaning of the Resurrection truly is. We think about how Jesus suffered, died, and rose from the dead but there is much more to the story than that. To really appreciate the full meaning of what Jesus did we need to start from Jesus’ birth. He lived a life on earth showing us how to live.

After His Resurrection he ascended into Heaven to the Father. Now He is able to return to us through the sending of His Spirit as He promised. As we celebrate the Resurrection on Easter Sunday let us remember that it is not the end of the story – Jesus is present with us now and always. When we return from Easter break on Tuesday we will have our classroom Resurrection Celebrations. We will celebrate the great victory that Jesus won over death. We hope everyone will join us in celebrating the Resurrection throughout the 50 days of the Easter season.

Holy Week at STAOPCS is always culminated by our annual student retreat day. As Lent comes to a close and we begin the Triduum, it is a great time focus on our Lenten journey in anticipation of the celebration of Jesus' rising on Easter. We gather at table with our parish family this weekend for Easter Sunday. The Gospel on Sunday calls each of us to celebrate the most important feast in the life of the Church, Christ’s Resurrection. Maybe we’ll see you at Mass. God's blessings to everyone for a great Easter Break!

TESTING INFORMATION During the weeks of April 9-13 and April 16-20, students in 1st through 8th grades will be taking the IOWA Assessments as well as students in 1st through 7th grades will be taking the CogAT. We will not be testing on Wednesday or Friday each week. We are using these days to review skills and concepts for the subtests and administer make-up tests.

EARTH DAY T-SHIRTS Earth Day T-shirt order forms went home in Green Folders today. T-shirts are $12 and all proceeds will support TreeCovery—which helps provide tree recovery and support to Texas communities affected by natural disasters. All order forms must be turned in by April 13th. You will be billed through your FACTS© account.

Please make sure your child is in school and on time on testing days. They need to be here by 8:00 a.m. and students coming in after this time will need to come back at 10:30 a.m. We do not want to disrupt the testing environment for our students. Please do not schedule any dentists or doctor appointments on these days. It is important that you child is in attendance.

Value: 1st Place - $3,000, 2nd Place - $2,000 Provided By: MGM Foundation, Inc. Don Hoyt used his God-given talents to make the world around him a better place. This scholarship is open to current 5th, 6th, or 7th grade students reentering St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School in the fall of 2018.
