School Profile
St. Anne’s School (SAS) is a leading independent Grade 5 to 12 day school for girls located in Aurora, Ont. Through a dynamic, inquiry-based program, students develop foundational academic skills, discover their authentic selves, amplify their voices, and realize their transformative potential. Our students are not just prepared for the future but ready to create it.
As an inclusive community, we foster strong connections through local partnerships and global initiatives to learn the value of service, gratitude, and engaged citizenship. Our comprehensive athletics and wellness programs promote fitness, resilience, and teamwork while developing students’ socio-emotional well-being.
As a partner school to St. Andrew’s College (SAC), an all-boys school in Aurora, Ont., we provide a unique educational experience that maintains an all-girls learning environment but allows joint co-curricular opportunities to foster healthy relationships, a sense of belonging, and an enriching experience through authentic environments. Further, this partnership allows SAS to leverage the worldclass facilities and resources of SAC to prepare young women for a world of extraordinary possibilities.
ACCREDITATION AND AFFILIATIONS
OUR PROGRAM
SAS provides a challenging and comprehensive curriculum, offering 80 credit courses. Electives are available in business, technology, computer science, visual arts, music, and languages. SAS surpasses the Ontario curriculum by enhancing it with experiential opportunities, signature programs, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Ontario Curriculum:
SAS students graduate with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), a minimum of 40 community involvement hours, and passing of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test.
Co-Curriculars and Student Leadership:
Developing leadership is a priority at St. Anne’s School, which has a Prefect system of senior leadership. Ten senior students are elected as Prefects for the academic year. Other senior leadership positions include House Captains (4), House Executives (8), and Council Representatives (9). All leadership positions are elected, and applicants undergo an extensive leadership application process, including speeches and interviews. While faculty members provide guidance and support, the school’s extensive co-curricular program is run by student leaders.
MISSION STATEMENT
Empowering girls to be courageous learners and compassion citizens who live and lead with wisdom.
SAS is accredited by the Ontario Ministry of Education and is currently a candidate school with Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS). We are a member of the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS) and participate in the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) with SAC. We participate in the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association (CISAA) and the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA). We are an AP Capstone school. VISION STATEMENT
Equipping young women for a world of extraordinary possibilities.
Adventure, community, creativity, humility, inquiry, integrity, resilience
Students at SAS participate in robust co-curricular programming during and after the academic day. During the week, students participate in councils, student-led clubs, and house activities. Upper School students also participate in our Arts/Co-Curricular Plus (ACPlus) program in conjunction with SAC where students can choose from a wide variety of activities to explore their interests, develop their passions, and broaden their experiences. Programming ranges from DECA, to pottery, to jazz ensemble, to robotics. Co-curricular program options: 50+

Athletics:
A vibrant and competitive athletic program is embedded in student life at SAS. We offer 46 teams across 17 sports in CISAA and 100 per cent of our students participate in at least two terms of sport.
School Year Format:
Our full-year, non-semested school is divided into three terms, with reporting taking place at the end of each term in November, March, and June.
School Schedule Format:
The school follows a four-day, rotating schedule with four 75-minute classes per day. Students complete two to three course blocks per week for each enrolled course, with academic blocks inverted to ensure courses are experienced at different times of day. Students (Grades 5-12)
EVALUATION
SAS has developed a standardized 4 +/--level assessment model for consistent evaluation across all subjects. This model aligns with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s assessment policies outlned in Growing Success.
As mandated by the Ontario Ministry of Education, final achievement in all OSSD courses is reported in percentage grades, with a maximum score of 100 and a passing grade set at 50. First Class standing (Ontario Scholar) commences at 80 per cent, rather than 90 per cent. The province establishes these standards, which all accredited public and independent schools must follow.
