INTRODUCTION

Zoliy productions present the 7th Annual Back2Basics Ball Weekend.

Back2Basics Ball was created for the Midwest and National ballroom scene to share, elevate, and celebrate our talent; in a fun and safe environment. This takes place annually in the month of June, celebrating Pride for all! Due to COVID, this annual Pride celebration has been postponed to October 2021 and will resume its regularly scheduled programming in June 2022.

It is a 4-day event that celebrates what used to be an underground subculture of vogue, runway, fashion, and commendation, and is now celebrated and considered an international sensation.

Being an international event, Back2Basics Ball Weekend is one of the most highly anticipated PRIDE experiences and opportunities for those in the LGBTQAI+ Black and Latinx community to participate and celebrate their lives. This weekend does not happen without our amazing partners who help to contribute to the LGBTQAI+ Black and Latinx Pride celebration including nonprofit organizations, corporate sponsors, private industry, small businesses and others.

The producers of Back2Basics Ball are excited to present a new chapter in the creative curation of this 4-day annual Ballroom. This year we will increase presence to recognize competitors of all genres in a phenomenally new way while reuniting our community as only the Ballroom scene can. Back2Basics recognizes the new normal, and with the lack of events in the Midwest, Back2Basics Ball seeks to become the pioneer in a new way of celebration that would adhere to new guidelines, protocols, and best practices.

The HBO MAX show Legendary boosted the revival of the underground Ballroom Culture. The show highlights the forgotten history and the living stories of the supporters of this culture. Legendary garnered over 200,000 views per episode, which helped Back2Basics Ball be a highly anticipated event for the past six years, and this year is no different.

The Back2Basics Ball has been engaging a unique audience that celebrates the Ballroom Community, a black and brown LGBTQIA+ underground subculture that for decades has been popularized by celebrities and most recently by the HBO MAX TV series, "Legendary".

This annual event serves as a community platform for LGBTQIA+ resource sharing, queer arts, activism, and entertainment. Through community outreach and safe space making, we provide meaningful resources while

giving back to the community. Collaboration with our sponsors have allowed us to build budding relationships that lead to long term care solutions for community members of all ages.

The Back2Basics ball is a celebration to the community and seeks to give back to it as much as possible. We strive to contribute and create long-lasting alliances with small and local businesses of the community and drive better opportunities to the area.

We have returned to the community through our local partners and businesses over $40,000 on Food & Beverage sales, over 4,600 pieces of food served, and over $125,000 on other expenses in the past Back2Basics events.
