South Side Sanctuary’s events planning team works closely with clients and/or planners to design and produce an unmatched multisensory dining experience. Our team will also work closely with all vendors to ensure that all aspects are cohesive and well-executed

Client will be supported through the entire planning process from an organizational and marketing process when requested to ensure guest satisfaction before, during, and post-event.

Special requests and over-the-top moments are where we shine! From valet parking to 10 ft LED presentation screens, cigar lounges and immersive custom art installations and experiences, our network in Chicago runs deep, and we can seal the deal for any special moments. Our resident Chicago Urban historian, Dilla, roster of musicians and ready to go MC’s are also incredible additions to any party !

VENUE RENTAL

Venue rental includes 2-3 planning calls, 1 walkthrough, 1 vendor planning meeting with any outside vendors, or culinary teams leading up to the event The rental fee includes maintenance,setup & breakdown staffing

Venue buyout rental fees range from $2,500 to $10,000, depending on the date, setup needs, number of guests, and use of space We are happy to make pricing accommodations for nonprofits and community-based organizations

At South Side Sanctuary, we are committed to fostering community growth by prioritizing Bronzeville-based, minority, and femaleowned businesses within our Approved Food Vendor List These vendors have been handpicked not only for their exceptional quality and service but also for their dedication to supporting the local economy and uplifting our neighborhood

When you choose vendors from our list, you ' re not just ensuring a seamless and professional event you ’ re actively contributing to the empowerment and success of local businesses Please note that while we do not take responsibility for individual agreements between clients and vendors, we guarantee that all of our approved partners share our values of excellence and community To secure permits for catering, planning, or rental services, vendors must be selected from this list to maintain our venue ' s high standards and positive community impact

If food service is requested, a rental restroom charge of $400 per 100 guests is mandatory to ensure guest comfort

BEVERAGE

For all alcohol service at South Side Sanctuary, clients must select from our Approved Beverage Vendor List to ensure compliance with city regulations and our venue ' s high standards However, we are happy to interview and consider outside vendors who meet specific criteria: they must possess a valid BACP business license, alcohol catering licenses for the City of Chicago and State of Illinois, and hold an insurance policy covering at least $1 million in liability per incident If beverage service is requested, a rental restroom charge of $400 per 100 gugests is mandatory to ensure guest comfort A security fee of $100 per hour per 75 guests is required for all hours of alcohol service and post-service time to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests

Payment

All events require a 25% deposit to hold date and confirm event. All deposits are non-refundable.

Payment will be broken into three payments Payment schedule is as follows:

1st Payment: 25% of total due at contract signing

2nd Payment: 50% of total due 30 days prior to event along with final guest count

Final Payment: 25% of total or full amount remaining balance (Items may be added or subtracted which may change the total balance due) due 10 days prior to event

ACH, Zelle or Check payment is preferred

Payments made by credit cards incur a 3 2% credit card transaction fee

What time is South Side Sanctuary available for rentals?

South Side Sanctuary is available for rental during both daytime and evening hours, offering flexibility to host events that cater to your schedule Standard rental times are from 7:00 a m to 9:00 p m , with the option to extend hours for an additional fee. There is no outdoor amplified music after 7:30pm.

What is South Side Sanctuary’s capacity, both indoors and outdoors?

South Side Sanctuary offers versatile outdoor spaces designed to accommodate both intimate gatherings and larger events The venue can comfortably host up to 200 guests for seated dinners or up to 1,500 for festivals and celebrations in the expansive garden area. The open-air setting provides the perfect backdrop for a wide variety of events, from weddings to corporate functions

What areas are available for a ceremony, cocktail party, and reception?

Ceremonies can be held in the Sanctuary’s central lawn space and stage, surrounded by lush greenery, creating an intimate and scenic backdrop. Cocktail parties can take place in the active ground and cement areas and still have access to hear performance the performance stage Receptions are typically hosted in the larger open areas of the Sanctuary, with ample space for dancing, dining, and entertainment Tenting is available for weather considerations or for larger events that require additional covered space

Does South Side Sanctuary handle catering, rentals, and/or décor?

While South Side Sanctuary provides the perfect outdoor venue, we do not handle the catering, rentals, or décor directly However, we offer an Approved Vendor List of top-tier professionals, many of whom are minority and female-owned businesses based in Bronzeville. These vendors have been carefully selected for their commitment to excellence and community values, ensuring a seamless event experience while supporting local entrepreneurs.

Do we need to use vendors from your list?

In most cases, yes, clients are required to use vendors from our Approved Vendor List for catering, planning, and rental needs to ensure adherence to our venue policies and maintain the integrity of the space. We are happy to interview outside vendors who meet specific qualifications, including holding valid business and alcohol licenses, and adequate liability insurance.

At what time can set-up for evening rentals begin?

Set-up for evening events can begin at 6:00 a.m. to ensure ample preparation time before guests arrive. Earlier set-up times may be arranged for an additional fee, providing flexibility for more elaborate events or detailed decorations.

Does South Side Sanctuary provide parking for guests, and what are the details?

Yes, parking is available on-site and included in the rental fee We can accommodate up to 100 vehicles, with additional options for larger events. The parking area is conveniently located just a short walk from the event space, ensuring easy access for all your guests. We are also steps away from the Green line 47th St El Train and CTA bus terminal

At South Side Sanctuary, we understand that weather can be unpredictable. While we encourage you to plan for a beautiful outdoor event, we also highly recommend having a rain plan in place to ensure your celebration runs smoothly no matter what Here are some nearby indoor venues within walking distance that can be reserved as backup options:
