WELCOME to Sunflowers Nursery
Hello, my name is Mrs Povey and I am the Assistant Head of Lower School and Year 1 class teacher at Staines Prep.
Welcome to Petals! Whether you are new to our school or you’re continuing your journey here, we’re delighted to have you and look forward to a fantastic year of learning and fun.
It is ok if you feel a little bit nervous because many children do when they begin something new. We’ll be here to help you feel happy, safe and ready to explore.
There are many exciting activities waiting for you, including meeting new friends, singing songs, playing games and discovering new skills. The Nursery team are really looking forward to meeting you and helping you enjoy every day.
I’m excited to see how you grow, learn, and have fun this year.
Warm wishes, Mrs Povey

MEET THEteam
On your first day, a member of the Nursery team will meet you at the gate. They will be wearing a badge with their photo. After saying hello with a big smile, they will walk with you into the nursery.
They will show you your name label, your tray for your snack box, your peg for your coat and where to put your water bottle.
Next, you will go into the discovery room and have fun playing with lots of exciting toys.
When your teacher shakes the tambourine, it is time to sit on the carpet and hear all about the fun things planned for your day.

Use the toilet on my own and wash my hands after
Eat by myself using a spoon or fork
Open my lunchbox or snack container
Tidy up toys when I have finished playing
