Kaiser Hospitals

The Kaiser Permanente Foundation came to Sacra mento in April 1965. It was a group practice prepayment plan, and it purchased the privately owned 64-bed Arden Commu nity Hospital (information not available on this facility) and began business with 10 doctors on May 1 of that year. By 1970, it had been enlarged to include the adjacent Camellia Park Convalescent Hospital, more medical offices, and a medical center with hospital tower. The rapid increase in membership meant that Kaiser satellite facilities would be needed in Sacramento. A 42-acre site on Bruceville Road near the southern boundary of Sacra-
