Dr. David Dozier, 1899 to 1986, one ofSacramento's last true “old-time” family practitioners and one of our few local medical historians, who had a special interest in the history ofSacramento hospitals. For manyyears Dr. Dozier sharedhis collection ofhistoricalphotographswiththeMedical Society for display in the Guttman Library. Many ofthe photographs in this book are from his collection.
... All thephysiciansand medicalcaregiverswhohave, for over 150 years, staffed the spectrum of hospitals in Sacramento, from tentto concrete, from amputationwithout anesthetictocardiacbypass,andfrom canvascotsfloatingin the floodwaters to intensive care technology.
