Kaiser Hospitals
The Kaiser Permanente Foundation came to SacramentoinApril1965. Itwasagrouppracticeprepaymentplan, and itpurchased theprivately owned 64-bed Arden Community Hospital (information notavailable on this facility) and began business with 10 doctors on May 1 ofthat year. By 1970, ithad been enlarged to include the adjacent Camellia Park Convalescent Hospital, more medical offices, and a medical centerwithhospital tower.

mento Countywas purchasedin 1978. Amedical officebuildingwithspacefor90physiciansopenedforserviceon October 1, 1984 and a connecting hospital opened with 60 beds the following year. A second medical office building became operationalinFebruary 1991.Aninpatientpsychiatrichospital opened in 1992 on the South Sacramento campus.
In 1993 there were more than 650 physicians throughout the entire Sacramento region, serving 378,000 health plan members. Expansion plans callfor a 116bedhospital to openjustnorth ofSacramento County in Roseville.
